The fit is good. True to size. For me, because of the angle of the boot height and shoe strings I really have loosen the strings 3/4 of the way down to get my feet to slip in. I’ve only worn these two times so far. I use them for riding my motorcycle which are good. I’m not a fan of walking around with them so far. Maybe the top will break down a little over time? They’re pretty stiff and hit above my ankle in a uncomfortable way.

These are nice boots, comfortable to wear, pretty good at slip resistance. The eyelet situation at the top of the boots is a little weird. It goes eyelet, then a hook and then eyelet. It takes a little getting used. Shoe laces are thinner than what you normally see on a boot but if you want to replace then you'll still need to buy thinner laces if you want the laces to attack to the eye hooks I previously mentioned. The toe box is roomy so I purchased thicker inserts to stabilize my foot in the shoe. But still and all they seem to be nice books very short break in period and a normal shiny black leather.

Well it's been a long strange trip trying to find a comfortable boot with good traction. There obviously is no standards when it comes to shoe size. What one company says is a size 10 may not fit with another company. Hell size 10 may not be the same within the same company between the different shoe models. It's the same problem with widths too. So you don't really know what you're getting until they show up at your house. And this is where zappos really shines. I appreciate their patience. These boots are true to fit and are comfortable right out of the box. They may need some breaking in for flexibility but nothing major. They seem to have a decent cushion with the foot pad and the toe box is roomy. They are a shinny black leather. The lacing is a little weird because at the top it goes eyelet then hook then eyelet so it may take a few more seconds to lace them up when you are putting them on. The shoe laces are a bit narrower than what you might find on other boots. All and all these boots are very comfortable and provide good traction.

These boots fit well and require no break-in period. Comfortable for a 10 hour shift. Highly recommend.

Husband likes these boots. This is the only brand and style, fit of boot he can wear for 8-10hrs of work. His feet do not ache. He bought 2 pairs to rotate through his work week. Guess they will last longer.

Great boot! I am online buying a 2nd pair. They lasted 3 TIMES longer than any other work boot I have purchased in the past and they are much more comfortable. Great ankle support too.

My son LOVES these boots and wears them for work and play! They support his aching feet and keep them dry and warm Our only issue was that his silly Mom bought the low cut style (he prefers the higher cut one) as he finally blew out the zipper EVEN though the strap made them still wearable! Great durable BUY!!!!

Super light weight. Comfortable for a 16 hour work day. The tread has held up well. Nice slip resistance in a commercial kitchen as well as on snow and ice.

If you hate wearing boots but have to...congratulations, you are about to be amazed. I've been wearing boots for 21 years (for work) and these are my all time favorites. They are the closest thing to a sneaker without being a sneaker. Cool in the summer, lightweight and as comfortable as it gets. I do recommend ordering a half size smaller. 21 years as a machinist, 10 hours at a time. Trust me on these boots. Only bad thing is the insole isn't up to par with the rest of the boot. I found that to be the case with all boots though. You'll love them'em!

Overall I'm satisfied with these work boots. I wish they had longer laces and extra loops but nothing major. Fit is true to form, well for me anyways.

the boots are great, i believe by far, the best I've ever had, and that's comparing them to other top brands like Magnum. they are true to size,feel and look sturdy. They don't have the bubble in the heel like other boots have, which I assume are there to provide better cushion. However, I prefer them without the bubble because from past experience I've noticed that the plastic lining tends to break ruining the boots. I recommend these boots.

I've been wearing Bates 5" Tactical Boots as a hiking boot for several years. These are extremely durable boots that provide excellent ankle support and comfort during long days on the trail. The real surprise was the customer service at Zappos. I need split sizes, and though thye couldn't accomodate that particular need, they provided me with a wealth of information on some great folks who split sizes. Can't say enough good things about Zappos customer care team!!

I love these boots! I have tried many different styles and brands, and this is by far my favorite. I'm about to reorder my second pair since my first pair is finally ready for retirement after 2.5 years. I work full time in rural EMS, so we hike to patients, climb in wrecked cars, wade through streams, an are on our hands and knees working codes in all kinds of conditions. These boots have never failed me, they're still 100% waterproof with no sole separation. I wear a women's size 9W, so the men's 7.5 medium width fit great. Can't wait to get my second pair!

These boots really surprised me. I had been spending almost double on a similar type boots that didn't last past 6 months of daily use. Always wearing unevenly, I am a large man, 420lbs. This boot has taken all of it. They have lasted a year but for me that is Amazing life...and they are still comfortable for all daily use. But they are looking a bit rough. So I am ordering my new pair today.

These are very comfortable. I am on my feet 10 hours a day and these are some of the best boots I have ever owned. This is my second pair,First pair lasted two years in a shop environment. Buy these! And buy them from Zappos, they are outstanding.

I had never purchased boots like this before, so I wasn't quite sure what I was getting into with these. I went with the other reviewers and hoped for the best. That's what I got...the best. From the first time I tried them on, they were incredible. There was no break-in necessary. I did remove the insert and put in a gel insert since I will be walking and standing a lot in them. They are roomy enough in the toe box to allow for heavy socks in the winter but not overly roomy so that feet in thinner socks slide around. I haven't had them long, so I can't comment on how long the bottoms will last yet. The only critique I have is that the top lace eyelet is not a hook like the one below it. It would have been more convenient when putting them on and taking them off if both of the top two lace eyelets were hooks. Spending an extra few seconds is not a big deal though. Awesome boots...quality for the money.

I use these working on a factory floor. Walking about 5 miles in a 12 hour shift. Very comfortable and light. The cushioning on the soles is excellent, and good arch support. Great protective boot for a man who doesn't want to wear sneakers.

I like these shoes. i have purchased many shoes and these are really for the price.. maybe not as comfortable as timberland pro but the do seem more durable. i am a really big guy and these shoes seem to be holding up really well. i would recommend them to anybody.

These are the best boots I've ever worn. Very light-weight, comfortable, and thanks to the thinsulite insulation, very warm in our cold winter. No break in period needed, they're comfortable right out of the box. As a retired cop, this is the second pair of Bates boots I've bought, the first lasted me more than 8 years of on-duty wear, and I still wear that pair as my "working in the garage" boots. This new pair is my good pair now. Bates shoes and boots are by far the best I've ever worn, and over thirty years I've worn a lot of different brands.
