I really liked the shoes style and craftsmanship. Unfortunately I wear a more neutral support/stability shoe and they just didn't fit my foot very well. I will return these and try out something else at Zappos.

Not worth the money - convertible but heel folds when you put them on! Think gray laces would be preferred.

The pros - the MR993 is a very nice looking shoe and the fact that it is made in the USA is a big plus! The cons - I did not find the shoe comfortable at all. For some reason NB designs these shoes with indentations from the sole that can be felt and is uncomfortable to the foot. A different insert or orthotics might prevent this or better yet NB should put another layer of cushion to cover it up. I have bought a lot of shoes from Zappos and tried a lot of shoes. I just wanted the buyer to be aware of this. From other reviews it isn't a big deal to some or they haven't noticed this in the shoe. I feel it at the ball of the foot and when checking it with my fingers, I feel the grooves with the inserts removed. For those of you who have these shoes, check it out for yourself. If someone doesn't feel it or have this issue, then maybe I got a bad pair. Anyway, I am returning these shoes because for this price they should be flawless!

My son, who has wide feet, tried these as an old New Balance fan. He says they\'re quite firm, with not much support feeling - especially in the arch. He likes the Brooks Adrenaline much better, for cushion and arch support, and general comfort in running.

Don't get me wrong, I love New Balance but I needed to write this review for the others. I recently bought these shoes and had to return them. I have been a big fan of 993 for nearly 15 years, unfortunately, quality have dropped tremendously since 2002 (when I bought my last pair). The D width is no longer D, it is much wider. It seems there is a lack of finish and the whole shoe seems generic with no attention to detail, especially in stitching area. The quality of materials have dropped as well, it does not seem as beefy and firm as the old once. Its not what it used to be when Made in USA actually meant something. I wish New Balance could address the quality and bring back the tradition.

I just noticed that the side wall of the rubber sole has developed a large hole in the exact location on both left and right shoe. They lasted all of 3 months after just walking the dog and occasionally going to the gym, very disappointed considering the cost.

Bought this shoe for work (coach), didn't do much running in the 993 before the cloth on the outer parts of both shoes began to thin and wear out around the small toe, I probably had them 2-3 months. Very disappointed returned them to the store I purchased them in and got another pair and had the very same problem with the new pair. Had a pair of 992's that I was very happy with that were much better quality and lower price than the 993's that lasted over a year. Again, very unhappy with the quality of the shoe.
