I have been a fan of the 992's, which have been replaced by this model, for years. I use them for jogging, walking and at work. I find no difference in comfort, support and stability. This model runs a tad bigger. The only drawback is that the outsoles do not last as long as I would like in comparison to other shoes, but it is a good trade off.

I have a narrow foot, and asked for the option of a narrow point, but it is too narrow. There is a part of the exterior of the shoe material that is too bright, I'm not convinced the brightness of this material.

Comfortable Wide 4E shoes for me. Only changed the white lace to a navy blue which made the shoe look better.

This is my second pair, I had the 992's last year. They broke down kind of quickly even though I used them for walking rather than running. I would recommend them for wearing around town, etc. but I wouldn't be able run in these if I were still running. Probably a little overpriced, too.

Comfortable sneakers for a flat- and wide-footed guy. Not the hippest sneaker around, but neither am I.

These shoes are ugly as hell, but extremely comfortable. I like the idea of purchasing a shoe made in the USA, but I don't need USA plastered all over the heel and the tongue.

Nice looking & good support. I use them for work. I work 12 hour shifts and at the end of my shift my feet feel pretty good.

Definitely a good buy! The heel of this shoe is a lot bigger than it looks on the website giving it an "odd" look when wearing jeans. Really comfortable as well.

Stylish and very comfortable for everyday wear. My husband really enjoyed the purchase. Only problem was getting the correct size. Didn't seem to run the same as his other New Balance sneakers, but we will be return customers for New Balance sneakers.

They are great shoes. I have had four pair in a row, but these are the complete wrong size. I have always had a 13 B, and they were killing my feet from being too short. Unfortunately, I threw out the box, and can't return them.

Nice shoe, but does not have the midfoot cushioning or support as the 992. This was disappointing to discover since the 992 is no longer available. Plus, the laces are shorter than on my 992s.

New Balance MR993 is the most reliable, basic, smooth operating run/walk stability shoe there is. They are easy to walk or run in without creating problems. The look is very traditional but I like to wear these with. They just look very solid and always feel comfy. Size up a half size for healthy toe room, IMHO. My only complaint is the guady huge made in USA stitching they put in two places on the shoe! Who wants that as decoration on their feet? It is especially in poor taste considering all the parts are made in other countries and the final shoe is assembled in the USA. What's so great about that! Most people don't want this on their shoe. Are you listening New Balance? Otherwise its a great shoe!

The 993 New Balance series was attractive to me for both the looks and because they were made in USA. If you can afford them I would suggest at least giving them a try... I own three pairs. They are comfortable, very durable, and give me the stride I was looking for. I run several miles a day and would definitely recommend them.

Good shoe. Very stable - your foot doesn't roll in or out. I bought as a replacement for the 2001 which was discontinued. I like the NB 2001 better but this shoe is the next best thing.

Running around and playing soldier out in Iraq is a hard thing to do as it is, but when you got shoes like these, it makes the year go by a lot faster. First time trying the NB and started with the 900 series. Good selection for style, and seem to be built pretty well (I run about 50-60 miles a week and I am 6'2, weight at 190). Like what the Fit Survey says, the shoes do seem to feel half a size smaller then suggested so just prepare for that.

I burn through shoes like butter, on my feet all day long. Never tried NB before. They are holding up well. I'm an all year bike rider, don't own a car, the reflectivity on these suckers really lasts. I didn't really buy these shoes for that purpose so it was a plus, especially on winter nights on Chicago streets. They are very breathable so your dogs will get cold at night. Your feet sweat a lot so I guess that's a good thing.

I love this shoe! I was worried when I saw the 992 style were gone, but luckily I found this new replacement for my favorite shoes.

These shoes have enabled me to continue moderate jogging despite arthritis in both feet the last 10 years that necessitated going to a slightly wider and very well-cushioned shoe. The downside is how fast the heels wear out.

I am very happy with these sneakers. I use them primarily for commuting from work and I find them to be very comfortable. I accumulate roughly 20-25 miles per week on these shoes and find my feet and knees to be in good shape upon getting home. I am a heavier walker at about 220 lbs and find them to be stable, pretty supportive and balanced nicely. I bought them in the all black and the glow in the dark sole is kinda cool. The styling is typical New Balance 900 series. Stylistically I prefer the 574 series but the 9s are better for exercise. Overall, I would recommend this shoe, especially if you are a larger framed person. The all-black are subdued enough where you could almost wear them to work on a casual day and not draw attention to the fact that they are sneakers.

I have to agree with the bottom review. The glow in the dark 993s are the hottest color to date in series that NB has created so far. I think the shoe is very comfortable, but like the other review said, the standard colors are geared for the older crowd. The only drawback is they need to make the limited colors in wide widths. The 993s do stretch out over time, though. NB has just released a dark grey, black sole with baby blue trim 993 for men as well. NB is starting to get it right.

This is the only narrow sneaker that fits my husband. He is has a 13 AAA narrow foot. The shoes are comfortable and hold up well. We have tried the black version of the same shoe, but it was not comfortable. We have bought this shoe four times.\r\n\r\n

I measure Women's 11 AA but Women's New Balance 13 AA is too short. So ordered the Men's 12 1/2 AA, fit pretty good with my orthotic on top of the one that comes with the shoe and the laces tied tightly!
I'd also recommend:
for women who need a narrow shoe, try Nike! They run the narrowest of the men\'s athletic shoes.

I started using this after using a Nike and being fairly happy with the brand. I bought the New Balance since this had positive reviews with excellent arch support and good width. I agree with both of those reviews. But the comfort of a Nike is not matched by this shoe. With what I paid for this, I expect a very comfortable shoe. Compared to the Nike, running with this shoe is like running on wood. I might return these shoes and get a pair of Nikes.

My original intent was to use these for running, but this shoe has two serious issues that have made me regret getting them for their original purpose. The first problem is the weight, feels like I have bricks on my feet. Just one of my shoes is two pounds, which is just terrible. Second, I have never had my feet sweat so much and feel so hot as they do in these. I won't lie, they're pretty comfortable and appear indestructible which is why I kept them. Not bad to wear as a cross trainer, or just for walking. For running though, find something else.

The size advertised is not the size of shoe we received. I have purchased other shoes from New Balance through your company and they fit perfectly for the 2A size. So I know they do exist.
