these boots replaced an older pair of the same model. The new boot is not identical to the old boot, but I feel it performs the same. My feet don't get wet after going through deep snow and they are quite warm if you're active such as shoveling or snowblowing.

This the second pair of this boot I have purchased. The last pair lasted two years. Well the first pair is still good, but I need new tread working at a ski resort, so I ordered another pair. Fit great right out of the box.

Had to order a half size bigger than normal. Other than that, boots worked out well and seem well constructed and rugged Practically lived in them for a full week at a week long BSA camp, boots held up well.

I have had my boots for ten years and today I should be receiving my second pair. I might give my current pair a funeral or something, so close have I become to them. Or maybe bronze them like they used to do to baby shoes. They've got dust in them from the Appalachian Trail, California, dozens of other places in the US and went with me to the other side of the world when I worked in Afghanistan. They have NEVER let me down. They felt like bedroom slippers the first time I tried them on, and they have only gotten better. And I have problem feet - gout, arthritis, fallen arches, etc - and I can wear them all day in comfort. I have worn the soles off them, that's the only reason I am getting a second pair. These people giving one star reviews ... I don't know what they did to make these shoes fall apart in a year or less. Have I made my point yet?

When trying to find a hiking boot I tried 5 different ones. Because they were all waterproof it required that I get a size 11 when I wear a 10.5. Not a big issue. The liner is what takes up the extra space within the boot. Out of the 5 these felt the best overall. My only complaint is that in order to keep the laces tied I have to double knot them. This seems to be a problem with many laces these days. I think because they are nylon and just slip easily.

This is the sixth pair I've bought over the years. That probably says it all. Great fit and comfort. I've worn them in the desert and in the winter in MN and AK.

My boyfriend has been wearing these almost every day for the last year. He works in a brewery and gets them wet often. He is very hard on his shoes! These boots have held up really well. He says they've been super comfortable from the start and I think they look great. He got them in dark brown and is now considering a new pair in black.

This is without doubt the most comfortable boot I have ever worn. The fit was perfect from day one-no break-in needed. It has just the right amount of padding around the ankle. The fit is secure with no sliding down towards the toe. They are not too hot in the summer and plenty warm enough in the winter.

These feel quite good right out of the box (8 hours wear) and surprisingly light. I expected a bit more arch support so I will have to get some after-market inserts, but I will not reward Timberland by purchasing theirs.

I have had many of these boots over the years and have never had to worry about braking them in. Fit perfect and comfortable right out of the box. Glad to see they shortened the laces a little as they used to be too long.

My son wore them out of the box on a camping trip for three days straight while hiking with no complaints. Kept his feet warm and comfortable. Great boots at a great price!

Great boot!!! Got me thru many seasons of Cub Scout leadership, and This year I’m retiring these for a new pair.
I replaced the insole with my orthotics and still fit great. Looking forward to another 5+ years of great comfort.

I think it's a great boot, but I just wanted to comment that when one of the eyelets pulled out, Timberland was not at all accommodating. The only remedy was to ship the boots back to them, at my expense, and then wait a number of weeks for them to decide if they were going to replace the boots.
I then called Zappos (which is the seller that I bought them from), and they very graciously and immediately sent me a replacement pair. So this is a product where the seller really does matter. I actually had the new boots in less than 24 hours. I have no idea how the do that, but who could ask for more? They also provided a prepaid return shipping label, so before a full day had passed, my boot troubles were just a memory.
As to fit, they certainly are consistent, because I've had three pairs over the last 12(?) years and first pair fit perfectly, the second pair fit exactly like the first pair, and the third just like the second.. It is my opinion that the soles don't last very long in terms of miles walked, and the soles separated from the firs boots after 5(?) years. I glued them back on myself and kept wearing them until the soles had holes worn through them, which is when I bought my second pair from Zappos.
I suppose that one could argue that the boots are not durable enough and that Timberland falls short on customer support, but at the end of the day, I have never found anything as comfortable, so I keep pn buying them.

I've had my pair for 20 years. they have made it through 3 CT winters and literally around the world. (Russia, India, Egypt, Norway Sweden, Iceland, China, Australia) just to name a few. As you can see they have been worn through every type of environment and the only reasons I'm looking to get a new pair is that the sole is starting to pull away, which I will fix but there is a new version. If they last as long as the first pair this may be the last pair I need. Cross my fingers i can find them.

This has become my favorite footwear of all time. When my old ones wore out, I tried to buy new ones at a local store, but apparently it's too expensive to stock...which could only mean that most people won't pay this much for boots. Or maybe it means that retail stores have lost their way as they continue to lose sales to the internet.
Speaking for myself, I would never willingly buy shoes online, because I know from experience that I am hard to fit. But that was my only choice for these boots, so I bought them here. I feel like I paid too much, but there aren't any real "deals" on these boots to be had. So I went with a company that I considered to be reputable, expecting to have to return them. To my great surprise and pleasure, the first pair I bought fit great, so I guess I'm happy.
With that said, I think it's worth considering that the soles on my last two pairs didn't last very long in terms of miles walked. The construction seems sturdy, so the rapid wear on the soles was unexpected. But being the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned, I buy them again anyway. I think they look okay, but that's not the main reason I keep buying them.
I said they were true to size and width because they are the same as the last two pairs, but I suspect that they are actually on the narrow side because I have narrow feet and their "medium" fits me just about right. Which is good for me because, they don't offer "narrow". I think it's worth considering too that the insoles wore out before the outsoles (if that's a word), and that Timberland does not offer direct replacements...which I find very irritating in light of the high price. Of course one can always buy aftermarket insoles, but when one spends this much money for fit and feel, one just wants to restore the original goodness.

This is my second pair of these boots having worn out the soles of my first pair (uppers were still in very good condition) after more than 6 years of nearly daily use.
I have narrow feet and the D width is snug so a true D width foot would be tight in these boots. Moderate arch support but the location is where it should be and I add Powerstep inserts on all my boots except for the Solomon's. Speed lacing works very well and no issues with premature wear with the boot laces on my other pair. The sole compound is a good combination of adhesion on wet surfaces with very good wear properties.
For the price this boots are an excellent value and well worth the extra $20 over the economy boots.

I LOVE THESE BOOTS! First, as most guys with wide feet know it's a crapshoot buying wide shoes. The box on these are very comfortable both with regular and insulated socks. I was hiking in Sequoia in the snow. With the addition of gaiters I expected wet feet but three solid days of snow use and my feet were warm and dry. Temps were in the 20s and 30s and my feet never felt cold. They fit well, are comfortable and stay dry. And they are a genuine wide.
