Terrific shoe! This is a well-made, comfortable shoe that is neither too bulky nor too clunky. I have narrow feet, but these fit perfectly with tights or light socks. The footbed, especially in the heel, is very cushioned. The shoe's structure is supportive in that it holds the foot upright and feels great. I can wear these all day any day, walk long distances, and they still feel good.

I liked this shoe a lot and wish it had fit. Looked good on, was very comfy, had a flexible but supportive sole. Plenty of room for my orthotics. Length was fine in my usual size, but it was too wide for my foot, especially my narrow heel. Wish I could find the same thing in a narrower width.

Very nice looking shoe. Runs 1/2 size larger than marked, length wise, but quite narrow and snug width wise. I thought I'd have to return them due to the narrowness, but after a few wearings they have loosened up slightly. Definitely requires a thin sock. Great traction on the soles.

Great for Travel - I purchased these shoes for a trip to Ireland. They were super comfortable, looked good with jeans and kept my feet dry throughout the entire trip. They did not require any breaking in. I did a lot of walking and they always felt great. Great shoes!

Merrell Spire Stretch - I wanted a shoe sturdy enough to stand up to city walking in a storm without looking like prescription footwear or sport shoes (and keep my feet dry and warm). They don't look like galoshes, or even boots. They stay nice looking in wet conditions, and look decent with slacks at the office. They fit snugly but not too tightly, have a flattering shape and are comfy with fine gauge hosiery. No need for thick socks for cold weather. They are light weight enough to make them easy to carry in case I want to change into something dressier. That meets all my requirements...these have all the usual good fit qualities of Merrells. I am really happy with them.

I didn't particularly like the look of these shoes, but I needed a water resistant slip on for an upcoming trip. I liked the shoe when I received it but I could not even get my foot into it. I ordered the next half size up and that fits me fine. It is very comfortable and I like the fabric that goes around the top of the shoe. My advice is to order up a half size if you have a high arch or instep. I have only worn them around the house so far and they have been really comfortable. I don't think these shoes will win any awards for being cute, but they look nice with pants and are not so sporty looking that I could wear them to the office. A great choice once I got the size figured out!

While this shoe seems extremely supportive, it does run a bit small. I also found it very difficult to get on and off -- the opening wasn't quite large enough and the material wasn't sufficiently flexible.

This shoe runs more narrow than other Merrells. I have skinny narrow feet and was surprised that these shoes squeezed at my toes. I have a bunion and mortons neuroma so there can be 0 pressure on the toes. Sadly these must go back. I tried ordering a half size larger, but all I got was a longer shoe, without any extra toe room. These otherwise seem like a supportive and cute shoe.

The shoe is stylish and comfortable, but a bit narrow even though I have a narrow foot. It's not a shoe that I can walk in for hours.

Very good - These shoes are great! I had to have them altered due to having a slightly short leg. They look great, you can hardly tell, and they look like I have boots when I wear them with long jeans. I really love these shoes!

Merrells - This is my fifth or sixth pair of Merrells and find the brand to be dependable for its comfort and style. I recommend the brand and this shoe for anyone who has to walk or stand during their day. Additionally, any time I go to an airport I can count on comments from the x-ray techs that they also wear Merrells confirming the comfort of the brand.

Unique shoe likely to be one of my favorites, particularly on rainy days. Merrell designed it to compensate for how women walk on outside of foot. Feels almost like a Nike Air on pavement. Based on other reviews, I bought the smaller of the two sizes I wear; good length. Width is snug but OK; like the snug heel.

Too wide for my narrow heels. I thought the stretch would allow this shoe to work on my narrow foot, but it was still too wide. It accommodates an orthotic, but the heel isn't very deep so it isn't ideal with the orthotic. The heel is higher than I would like in a comfort shoe - felt more like a heel than a flat.

Much narrower than expected! Try a half size larger than you typically fit.

Very poor quality shoe. We probably just got a bad pair but this really is ridiculous for a pair of shoes at this price. A patch of leather on the side has started peeling back at the seem on the outside of one shoe. These were purchased 3 months ago and they are now useless. Comfortable - yes. Style - basic and cool. Durability - none.

These shoes are really nice looking - exactly what I was looking for. They can serve for both a casual jean look or dressy casual slacks. Unfortunately, though I went up a 1/2 size, I truly could not get them on without a shoehorn. Once on they looked great and the fit was great - lots of support - but they were too HOT! Most of the top and part of the sides is sort of a neoprene fabric that just must not breathe. If you don't have a problem with hot feet like I do, they might work for you. I am really sorry that I have to return them.

I bought these shoes as my go-to pair for work travel, wanting something comfortable but with enough of a heel so my dress pants length would work. They fit the bill in that regard and offered a lot of support once you got them on... which was a challenge without a shoe horn. Since they do need some breaking-in and seemed so inconvenient at airport security, I ended up sending them back. I was a little disappointed because of that, but otherwise a good, comfort shoe if you have the time.

I've owned other Merrell products and have been very happy with them. However, this was not the case with these shoes. The shoes fit fine lengthwise, but are very narrow compared to other Merrell's I've owned (in the same size). To the point where it hurts to wear them. I kept wearing them to see if the leather would stretch out, but it's been unsuccessful. Any time I drive over 30 minutes on these shoes, my feet hurt a lot.

I bought this shoe because I do a lot of walking commuting to and from work in the city, and I was looking for something that was supportive and comfortable but that also looked professional. This shoe looks great, I really wish I could have kept them, but my feet started to hurt within an hour of putting them on. The shoe pinched the top of my foot, rubbed against my heels, and pinched my baby toe. I tried them with different types of socks, thick and thin, and nothing seemed to alleviate the problem. I feel like a healthy, active 28 year old like myself shouldn't have foot pain when I put on a shoe like this. I was disappointed because Merrell markets their shoes as "comfortable" and with "Qform technology for women". I will not be buying Merrell's again, sadly.

A little disappointed in the longevity of the shoe. Purchased in January 2009 as a work / walking shoe, but only wore six months. Still feels comfortable, but the thin leather around the sole and heel started peeling away and the sole is coming apart from the bottom of the shoe. My other Merrell hikers and winter boots have 1.5 years on them; admittedly both are seasonal. But six months is still not acceptable.

Too tight across the top of the foot. I really, really wanted to like these shoes. They style is great -- appropriate for the office -- and they're very comfy, with excellent arch support and good cushioning. The problem is the stretch part around the shoe opening -- it's just too tight. I also found these very snug through the instep, even after going a half-size up, and I have medium width feet. The width at the toes was fine, but the upper part of the shoe was uncomfortably tight.

I love Merrell's so I was so very surprised to receive these and have them feel 2 sizes too small as the Grinch would say. I'm very disappointed but the shoes are really cute and look comfortable if only they fit!
