I bought these shoes to wear on a five day trip to Washington, D.C., including walking through the airports. I tried them out before going on the trip, and they felt wonderful. They did work well for the miles we walked in Washington. The only caveat was that pounding the pavement made my heels ache, so I added heel cushions. Since returning, I have continued wearing the shoes (with and without the heel pads). These are good all-purpose walking shoes that look good with pants.

They are tight to get on at first because the opening at the top is rather small. The opening does stretch some to help you get them on and does loosen up over time. I almost returned them because of this. I'm glad I did not because they have excellent arch support and gives my body good posture.

I wear these every day to work. They are very comfortable shoes but they fell apart fairly quickly considering I sit at a desk all day. They didn't even last one year.

I have wide feet and found these very comfortable. They are a good balance between comfort and style. I like the little bit of a heel but comfortable to walk in all day. Got bored with them and tried other shoes but now I'm coming back and buying these again.

These shoes are very nice looking and nicely made. I was so hoping that they would fit and feel as good as they look. The shoe insole is very thin feeling. Putting in my Aetrex insole helped, but took up too much room in the toe box putting too much pressure on my bunion and deformed toe. The heels slipped a bit, even with socks. The right heel collar was very tight and bit into my Achilles tendon. Ouch! Getting into the shoe with socks (how I would wear them), was a struggle without a shoe horn. So sorry, for they were pretty much what I was looking for. The search continues.

Last review was a year ago? I love the looks of this shoe. I think it will be comfortable, but just got it. The only problem I find so far is the right heel seems to squeak. This is the second pair I've tried, and have the same problem after Zappos quickly replaced the first pair. Has anyone else had this problem? I really want to keep these, as I think it's a very classy look, and like other Merrell shoes, I'm sure will be quite comfortable, but gave it four stars, only because I haven't had it long enough to know.

Unfortunately I had to return these shoes because they were so small I could not even slip them on my feet! It is very odd because I have two other pairs of Merrell's both in the same size I ordered that fit just fine.

I am on my second pair and am noticing that they rub at the point where my big and baby toes end. I work on my feet 4-6 hours a day and switched from heels to these. They are not very stylish with my suits but functional. Due to the spots/pain at my bunions, I will probably not buy a 3rd pair.

I bought these shoes for waitressing. Absolutely love the fit, especially after having tried Danskos, but the soles do not hold up well in a restaurant environment. I wore through the soles faster than any pair of shoes that I've ever worn for work. Would buy Merrell again for non-restaurant use, but am looking for something new for work. I especially like that they offer size 10.

Shoe is very comfortable. I have no arch what so ever and the arch support is better than I expected. The stretchy fabric around the ankle seemed to stretch and loosen up. I wish it would have stayed tighter, but I would recommend this product.

These shoes look quite sleek and stylish in "real life". Great design-lines to them. I am a teacher and they are appropriate and comfortable. Only problem is they are VERY narrow and I needed a wider toe box.

Comfortable shoe that runs narrower than other Merrell styles. My foot is between a narrow and regular width, so I have trouble getting fitted. This shoe is narrower than the Encore Merrells and fits me better.

I love these shoes. They look great and are very comfortable. One caveat, when I first wore them, the back of the left shoe gave me a small, painful rub on the back of my heel. So, although they are comfortable, they need to be broken in a little. I would also like to see them come in brown and tan, not just black.

This is the second pair of Merrells in this exact same style and color. I searched high and low for these as they are discontinued...and they are worth it! If you are looking for a shoe to do a lot of walking in, but still maintain some measure of style, this is it! There is sufficient support and comfort. You should really like this shoe!

Great shoes - I bought these shoes after my sister bought the same pair. These shoes are extremely comfortable. I have received compliments on my shoes every time I wear them. I wear these shoes with a thin cotton sock. It is a little snug to get on, however once the shoe is on my foot....they are perfect!! Love these shoes!! I am very picky when it comes to a comfortable shoe. Needless to say, I am impressed with these shoes.

Fit good; heel higher than expected - The shoe fits well and is attractive. The heel, however, is slightly higher than I had expected from the picture, therefore causing me discomfort in my lower back when I must stand or walk extensively.

I have ordered these shoes in the past and they were a staple in my wardrobe. This time they are just a bit too narrow so I have to return them.

I am a true size 5, and they were painful to try on. The opening is narrow and stiff. Within minutes they hurt my feet. I am surprised @ Merrell and am returning them.

These shoes are extremely comfortable, and they look very polished and sleek with pants. However, the soles are not well made: after several years, the soles on my first pair peeled all around the sides, making them unwearable and unrepairable. And the soles on the second pair that I just purchased are starting to separate from the shoe after only a few weeks' wear. That is very disappointing!

I just purchased my third pair of these shoes. I keep buying them because they run narrow provide pretty good arch support and are comfortable to walk around in all day,even on trips where the terrain includes cobblestones,crumbling sidewalks,and steep hills. They are unobtrusive enough to wear with dressier clothes and do not look like athletic shoes but work for light hiking. The first pair held up great for several years of heavy use and the second pair did not last nearly as long - the sole wore away much more quickly and developed holes in the bottom. Because the fit and comfort of these shoes is so hard to find I ordered a third pair. The stretchy material at the top is so tight that I have to work hard to get the shoes on but the the deciding factor is that when I walk on an uncarpeted floor they make a horrible high pitched squeaking sound! What is up, Merrell people that the quality of your product has deteriorated so drastically? I was counting on you! The shoes are going back not acceptable!

I can't tell you how many pairs of Merrell shoes I have owned over the last 10 years but its over 30. I always wear a size 8 and have only once before had a pair that did not fit. These shoes were way to tight in the depth from the top of the shoe to the sole in the inside. I expected the top to be more stretchy to provide a snug fit with an easy slip on. This was not the case. I had to struggle to even get my foot into the shoe and within seconds the top of my foot hurt because the shoe was too tight. I was very disappointed. As a Merrell lover these shoes did not meet my expectations and I unfortunately had to send them back. There are so few options for shoes in this style that I can wear to work and I've found nothing outside this brand that holds up as well to the amount of standing and walking I have to do. Sole comofort was good. Arch support was good. Toe room was good but overall size was way off.

So wanted to like these shoes, but there were problems. The shoes run a half size smaller than marked, so my toe ran into the top immediately. They also have a very narrow entrance, so you really have to squeeze your foot into them, and I have pretty thin feet. And while they may be stylish in smaller sizes, they look rather matronly in the upper ranges. Had to send back, too bad.

I was hoping to find a stylish shoe for wearing when traveling in Europe. I usually love Merrell's as they tend to run narrow and I have a narrow foot. However, this style just looked too industrial...not flattering at all.
