Excellent!
I weigh approximately 500 lbs and am in a wheelchair. These are the only shoes I can stand up in comfortably and make safe transfers. I wear an 11 Med and they are extremely true to size. I think they are cute and flirty - and feminine. Will buy in more colors.

These shoes are really hard to break in. They are tight across the toe.I got these half size bigger than usual for that reason. I hope they will loosen up across the toe. I agree with several others that the toe box is too small.

These are great shoes - very comfortable. The only problem is that they make your feet sweat, quite a lot!

These shoes are very comfortable, look great, and are of excellent quality. I bought them a 1/2 size larger than I use because I want to use them with thick socks. They fit well, except that the strap fits a little tight and you cannot adjust it.

These shoes are cute, very comfortable, and great to walk and stand in. Right from the box they were eminently wearable. So far my only complaint is that the rubberized toe and sides seem to affect breathability when wearing socks (vs tights or hose).

Fit great - love these shoes. I think they are true to size based on my experience. I wear the same size I wear for all my other street shoes. These are very versatile as they can be dressed up or down depending on the day.

I was looking for an "athletic" Mary Jane style shoe and was so excited when I found these. I bought the brown suede ones in my normal size 9. At first they felt wonderful, but after about 2-3 hours my toes felt so pinched (width wise!). I could not wait to take them off! I am so frustrated because I love their look and the heel height is perfect (can't do flats) and am hoping beyond hope I can break these in to where they are comfortable. I'd buy them in every color if I could make them feel better around my toes. (The band doesn't bother me at all.) I have a pair of Merrell MJ "Encores" and had to go down to a size 8.5 on those! I guess you just have to try them on and see for yourself. I so want these to work!

I love the Merrell brand! As a teaching assistant I am on my feet all day and at recess. I needed a shoe that was professional looking, but could handle some outdoor use on the playground. The Plaza did just that. Comfort, style, and rugged. The toe covering protects my shoes from gravel, roots, and those odd things on the playground. I also don't have to worry about wet spots or dew in the grass messing with the leather. The grippy surface tread lets me skip over rocks and keeps things safe when there are spills in the lunchroom. Still it is a cute little Mary Jane style that works well with a skirt, slacks, or my jeans. One note: to some of you with not a high arch but a higher slope on top, the shoes might be a bit tight. The leather will stretch, but it will be a bit tight to begin with. Also, as mine got broken in I noticed a rotten squeak that came in side to side motion in the heel.

Odd -
These look pretty cute. I love the traction and I love the heel height. The problem is that the heel is awkward, it causes my ankles to fall inward for some reason. Note: The strap is not detachable from what I could tell, it's fixed in place.

nice and comfortable, but not a flat -
I was looking for a shoe that was as comfortable as a sneaker and a little more feminine than a loafer -- a good walking shoe that I could wear with nice pants. This basically fits the bill. I am in between sizes and I ordered the bigger one. I added an insert for more arch support and found the shoes to be fairly comfortable during a full day of sight-seeing, but not as comfortable as a sneaker (what is?). They are not flats, which gives them style, but also makes them a little less comfortable if you are on your feet all day. Still, the heel is very well supported. Plenty of toe room, great traction, no pinching, no rubbing, and the strap gives added support (and did not dig into my foot). They are a bit clunky, so I won't wear them with a skirt, only pants. Overall, it is a comfortable, top-quality shoe, nice black leather, cute stitching.

Merrell's Plaza Bandeau -
The shoe is not the prettiest, but it is very comfortable, great on slippery surfaces (i.e., ice) and can be used for business casual attire.
No regrets!

I wear a 9 or smaller in dress shoes, but like an athletic shoe, I had to move up to a 9.5. It pinches a little around the ankle, which made it harder to wear for long walks. I'm hoping it continues to break-in, but I've already put 10 miles on it, and it is not my favorite walking shoe. It is really cute as compared to a set of Nikes or something.

Wish there was a 10.5 -
I like the look of this shoe, even though it (as all shoes) never looks quite as cute in size 11 as it does in a 7. I really need a 10.5, but Merrell doesn't make it, so I went with an 11. That said, it's a little roomy, but still comfortable. I like the suede, and so far it hasn't been marred by a couple of puddles!

Not the best from merrell....
This is probably my 14th pair of Merrells...great style, great workmanship, but these seem a little tight and a little high in the heal...perhaps I just have to get used to them...will not send them back, but take them to be stretched..I will also continue to purchase Merrells. Thank you, Zappos, for your great service!

The only reason it gets 4 stars is because I originally ordered the 8- and had to return it for an 8 1/2- which fit-wise felt like a huge jump in size. The 8 1/2 is way wider than the 8 was. I think Merrell's in general run pretty wide.

A little tight, a lot of style -
I own a pair of these in another color that are the suede material; they fit my wide foot much better than the black leather. The leather has very little "give", but with some wear have gotten much better. Overall a really comfortable shoe for wearing standing up for 9-12 hours per day at work.

Cute shoe! I get compliments every time I wear these shoes. They are almost perfect – cute and comfortable, but they are a bit roomy. An extra insole solved the problem. I should have tried a size smaller before wearing them to school. Great neutral color. Works with both skirts and slacks.

I am so disappointed in these shoes! They are so cute, but very uncomfortable. I can't wear them more than a couple hours before my feet are in pain. The arch is quite high, and it also seems to push your foot forward into the rubber toe, which doesn't give. The strap is quite tight as well. Very disappointed. I will stay away from Merrell and stick to Keens, Clarks, and J-41s.

These are cute shoes, but they are not comfortable, so far. I bought them to wear on a trip of New York City. By the end of the first day, I was dying. My feet were sore, so I didn't wear them the rest of the trip. I liked the heel height because some of my athletic style pants are kind of long for my Nikes. I will try to wear them again. The leather is very stiff and even though the sole is rubber, the inside footbed feels hard and inflexible.

Cute shoe! Runs small in my opinion -
I really liked the look of this shoe. And because it’s a Merrell, I thought it would be comfortable. I ordered it in a 7 and it is too small. Not only do I think I need a size 7 1/2, but I think I need it in a wide width instead of a medium width. Unfortunately, this shoe is only offered in a medium width, which I think is a detriment to sales. The shoe seemed very stiff, as well. I had the shoes on in the house for 5 minutes and they were so uncomfortable, I had to take them off and return them. The strap is very tight also on my foot. Too bad. I have another pair in a different style of Merrells in a size 7 that fit just fine.

Ouch! Don't wear without socks -
I thought this would be a great, comfortable shoe with good traction for lots of walking when an athletic type shoe wasn't quite dressy enough. They are pretty comfortable, though a bit roomy, and pretty cute on, for this type of shoe...I had planned to wear them without socks, with shorts and crops as well as jeans. But when I wore them around on the carpet to test their comfort, in a very short time, they tore a few layers of skin off my toe! The lining of this shoe feels like sandpaper. Since I don't know what kind of socks an adult would wear with a mary jane, these have to go back. (I would not try to wear my style of orthotic with this shoe).

I live in NYC and need shoes that I can walk in all day. From street to office and back again. I wear my running shoes almost all the time as they are the only shoes I can wear and be 100% comfy all the time. But, they aren't exactly stylish. These merrill's are pretty good. Very comfy with great heel cushion. But, not as much arch support as I need (I have very high arches). And after a full day of walking, my legs kind of ache - these shoes are built at an odd angle. Definitely recommend if you need casual, comfy shoes. But, if you are going to stand or walk ALL day, they may take some getting used to.

Cramped Toes -
Cute, but I found the slope a little too steep. My toes were forced to the front of the shoe and felt cramped and crowded. I usually don't have this problem because I have a long, narrow foot (between an A and B width). I'm tempted to say that this brand runs small and I needed a larger size, but the heels were a little loose. I guess this design just isn't for me.

Cute but not for my foot -
I got the Espresso and loved the look. The footbed is soft and supportive. I kept feeling a strange bump under the back of the ball of my feet and the heel hits the back of my ankle. On dry winter days this would be OK but in warm and humid weather I foresaw blisters three kilometers out a 6 kilometer trail. I decided to return and keep shopping.

Overpriced -
It's not as comfortable as it looks. I got these for a trip and after wearing a couple of hours, I couldn't wait to take them off. The footbed was hard and the front edge cuts into the top of my feet. And I have skinny feet. For the price I expect comfort and looks, but alas, the former is not there.
