I was hoping for an alternative to a tennis shoe--something with a well padded sole. Unfortunately, this shoe has minimal padding and almost has the feel of a sandal.

I usually love Merrell shoes because of the arch support and cushioning. This shoe had neither. Fun design, but I missed the comfort in this shoe.

They run narrow. Their is no arch support. The top of the shoe comes up too high and is uncomfortable. I will be returning them.

This shoe was too long, and even with a half size smaller, the shoe from toe over the top of my foot was too long with the zipper hitting the top of my foot at an uncomfortable angle. Thinner socks did help and arch support inserts would be necessary for these to work.

I love this shoe, but can't stand how prominent the logo and brand name have become. Want very much to replace an older pair, but won't buy again until this design flaw is fixed.

I've worn a similar style before and loved them. This style has a piece of leather at the toe and although I had plenty of room in the shoe, the leather was so hard that I ended up with bruised toes/toenails. A larger size would have been too big.

These are stylish workout shoes. They are still a bit stiff, and gave me blisters on the back of the heel at the top band. I will wear them more when the blisters heal, to break them in and soften them.

Going back, unfortunately - A darling shoe, very lightweight, and well made. But, for me, the fit is so tight that I can't wear even very thin socks with them, and the zipper won't close when I put them on. Definitely not for a high instep. They do have a lean look on your foot, but something about the location of the stitching makes my foot look like it has a bunion (which it does not). Too bad they're going back...I LOVE Merrell shoes. The best brand for the hospital worker. Will stick with the Encore series.

Not for pounding pavements - Alas! I wanted something on which to walk long and hard in on hard Manhattan pavements. Elegant as this is, it is not a walking shoe -- not padded enough -- but a run to the store and back...

Looks good, but needs more cushioning - I wanted this shoe because it is good looking and makes my size 10 foot look a little more slim and trim. The shoe looks good, but is too thin and "cardboardy" on the bottom. The sole is not cushioned at all and I wouldn't use this shoe to take a walk in. I would like to see a little more attention to comfort/support for what should be an active-wear shoe.

Light as air Barrado - I found the Barrado to fit true to size and I really like the easy on/off feature of this shoe. However, they aren't the coolest looking shoe, have no arch support, and feel like you're wearing a sock (no shock absorption). They are comfortable enough for short distance walks, but not all day.

I loved the style of these lightweight shoes but mine developed a squeak in one shoe. It is so loud it makes wearing the shoes downright embarrassing so I haven't gotten much use out of them. I even tried WD40 to no avail! Very mysterious.

Only one complaint - the zipper is VERY difficult - Loved the look and comfort of these shoes; couldn't see myself fighting the zipper all the time. I'm a mom of 2 young kids and need something fast. The zipper on these was really stiff and required a noticeable amount of strength to zip and unzip. I returned them, but mainly because I don't have time to mess with it every time.

Watch out with this style - I bought two pairs of these: one black, one white. The white was difficult to keep clean. The bad part about this particular style (and I have worn Merrills for a number of years) is that it has a very slick sole. I took a pretty hard fall (enough to break one of my fingers) due to the lack of traction after a rain and got rid of both pairs as I didn't want to take another chance. I like the looks and they are comfortable enough for around the house wear, but lack any arch support for sustained walking.

Fit, size, style is great. This is my second pair of this shoe. My complaint is that after wearing a while the shoes squeak. Quite annoying. Thought it was just the first pair, but it is happening again. Love the shoe otherwise & was thinking of getting it in another color, but won't. Can't tolerate the squeaking!!!

Disappointed in the new version of this shoe. Many years ago, when it was first available, I purchased this shoe in three colors and wore them to shreds, just recently finally throwing out the last pair because they were just too grungy to be seen in anymore. Although I have a relatively high arch and the shoes provided no arch support, for everyday use that didn’t require excessive walking, they felt like I was wearing air. They were also easy to slip on and off quickly, which also made them great for getting through airport security when traveling, and they looked good with a lot of different clothing. I was happy to see Zappos had the shoe available and purchased two pair, the beige and the black. Unhappily, I found that like almost all brands now, Merrell is cutting corners in the quality of materials and quality of manufacturing. While the original textile uppers were soft and pliable, the new ones are rough and stiff. While the originals zippers were small, unobtrusive, high quality and worked smoothly, the zippers on the new shoes are bigger, clunkier, cheaper and do not work smoothly. While the original shoes conformed to my feet, looking slender and sharp even though they were comfortable, the new shoes in the same size are too big in the toes, slide up and down on the heels, and bag out on the sides. I’m disappointed in Merrell and the shoes are going back.

I really wanted to love these shoes. I had a pair of Merrell Barrado's years ago that I *loved*... lightweight, comfortable and cute, but they'd worn out. So when I saw these were available, I jumped on the chance to get new ones. They were still cute ... I didn't love the coloring as much as my old ones but I still like what I got on that front. The problem with these was the material used to trim the foot opening. It is SO hard and stiff and unforgiving. Gave me the worst blisters. I was so disappointed, having wanted a pair of these again so much, I put them in the closet and after a number of months had forgotten I had them (and why I wasn't wearing them). I got them out again a couple of weeks ago and put them on to wear to work. After a few blocks walk on my commute, I remembered why. I had to stop on a park bench and put band-aids on the back of my Achilles' where I was bleeding. It's been so long since I purchased them, and with the amount of outdoor wear I've put on them, I'm not returning them, but I'm not keeping them either. I'll donate them ... maybe someone else might have better luck with this pair than I did.

The fit was perfect and look of the shoe was great but the top of the shoe when I was walking would cut into my shin. The materials cut to high for me.

I've had a similar pair of Merrills that I've worn for years that fit well and were very comfortable. These shoes are VERY narrow. I could barely get my foot inside. I don't like that 'MERRILL' is bold on the top of the shoe.

These are ok, not worth the price. There's very little support, so I placed a cushion insert inside and it helped, but the fabric is stiff and I got a blister by the end of the day. I'll keep to wear around the house, or slip on to go outside but don't buy them expecting to wear them comfortably all day. Not the shoe for walking.

These shoes are great looking but surprised me by being extremely narrow.

I bought these in black and another pair in brown and wore them till they nearly fell apart, absolutely loved them , bought the same size in silver and still cannot break them in without getting more blisters, so disappointed!!

Merrill made a comeback version of the Barrado. I have a pair of first generation Barrados which are wonderfully comfortable, light weight, easy on and off plus stylish. I was excited to see this style making a comeback and decided to purchase a newer pair. The newer model may look similar but sadly they are not comfortable. They feel narrow in the toe box, and cheaply made. The interior is rough. This is unfortunate. Back they go.
