I am a Merrell fan - I love Merrell shoes, but this one was a bit disappointing. The shoe didn't fit too well (it was about a full size smaller). The "M" emblem is not sewn on very well so it buckles, and it just isn't as comfortable as the other Merrell shoes I own.

Bought this shoe for the look, quality, and comfort I have always associated with Merrell. Noticed right off there were some seams on the inner lining that had not been sewn correctly and were not attached. Minor flaws in the mesh outer as well. Biggest problem though was the way the shoe fit against the instep of my foot. Adjustment of insole did not help. I could predict with any amount of long walking or hiking I would have this area wearing on my foot and blistering. Sent them back and will try to find another Merrell model through Zappos. My first experience with Zappos has been great so far other than these shoes.

I find the shoe too soft, not enough contact with the ground.

Felt comfortable when I first tried them on. Went on a trip to Asia where I did a lot of walking. So uncomfortable that I developed blisters and bruised my right big toe. Eventually, the toenail on my right big toe fell off when I came home after 3 weeks.

I have a narrow size 11.5 to 12 woman's foot. I first tried a size 10 men's Medium and my toes were scrunched up at the front of the shoes. I returned them for a size 11 medium. The length was good but the right shoe hurt my foot, it felt like it was too narrow and had a weird curve on the lateral side of the arch; the heels of the shoe did not hold my feet in the shoes at all; too much padding and not cut too low on the sides. I tried wearing them one more day and had the same experience. Bummer because they are very stylish, and now I'm out $109.00.

I ordered a half size larger than normal and they fit good. However, the left shoe was defective in that it was made such that your foot rolls inward. It was very definitely noticeable just by looking at it. I am going to try another pair and hopefully they are OK. I am rough on shoes, living in the desert and rocks and sand eat them up. I have had good luck with Merrell shoes for some time and will continue to use them unless the quality turns down like this pair.

Although these shows have not been heavily worn, both are splitting on the outside. They run small, and the tightness might have been a factor in the splitting, but I would not have expected a leather upper to split the way these have.

What a disappointment! Narrow, "pointed" toe box on shoes that are, at least, a half size smaller than labeled. If you're a poser who doesn't know what it's like to use your whole foot - including your toes; only interested in what would have been a great shoe; these should be perfect.

Odd fitting shoes for Merrill. The style of the shoe is very nice. These could have easily been used for school and trails. However, I had my son measured at a mens 9 1/2 and m. The 9 1/edium width 2 in this style was very large. Then the 8 1/2 to small. The size 9 fit in length but very narrow across the widest part of his foot. All sent back. Too bad too.

My toes felt like they were in contact with the shoe when I walked. The ball of my foot felt pinched. Overall, the shoes felt too tight, not matter how loosely tied. They are good looking and rugged shoes, but they are not comfortable on my feet. I usually find Merrells to be comfortable.

Needed to re-order a larger size because toe box is small, even for a C width foot! Virtually no foot support--it felt like walking on rocks. Returned asap.

Gave them an overall low score because the tread on the heels wear out too fast. Also, he rubber toe is cracking...just bought these in February.

I've had it with Merrells at this point. I think I've tried six or more in the past two years and kept one. The fit is unpredictable, increasingly narrow around the small toes, varies from shoe to shoe a lot. They still have a nice design sense but I can't keep wasting time on them. Other brands (e.g. Ecco) consistently fit my foot, my size, across styles. It feels like they have dropped their quality over the past few years, and lots of other reviewers seem to feel the same.

I love the way they look but like several other Merrells in the past few years they are too narrow and pinch my small toes. I don't understand -- some models still fit comfortable, same size, but not so narrow. Be warned.

I've tried a few times to buy different merrells and each time they are too small ! Why are their measurements so different ? Very Frustrating ! Tired of wasting my time with them !

I bought a pair of Intercept Mocha shoes about a year ago. The right shoe has developed an annoying squeaking noise with every step. It sounds as if the material in the heal is surrendering with each step, noisily announcing its presence to eveyone as I pass by. I find the lack of durability in these shoes disappointing for shoes of this price range. The noise is loud enough that I have had to retire these shoes long before they should have needed it.

Very disappointing - not a comfortable shoe whatsoever. I had previously owned a pair of Ventilators and loved them and assumed that all Merrell shoes are great - not so. These Intercept shoes are stiff, narrow, and cramped in the toes (even after ordering a full size larger than normal). Also felt like something was jabbing my arch in the right shoe. Too bad - they look great.

I bought these shoes because I have a high arch. They are very comfortable and I can walk on all sorts of surfaces and not get foot fatique. I used them for trail, sidewalk, and general purpose shoes. The major issue, I had was the sole wear, the soles are gone in less than a year! The size seems to be true. The leather is very high quality.

I bought a size 10(UK) when I normally wear a 9. I can say with all honesty, after wearing these for just 30 minutes indoors and I have damaged both of my feet, mostly around the little toe.

Super comfortable shoe, but useless for outdoor hiking. Traction is terrible, especially on wet surfaces. Purchased for trip to Philippines, but the only time I could wear them was on plane and in mall. Walking outdoorsman trails and wet concrete was dangerous. I am giving the shoe a 2 rating because they are advertised as hiking shoes. On the positive side, these are one of the most comfortable shoes I own, although I ordered a 1/2 size bigger based on other reviews. Zappos, like always, is very easy to deal with.

When i first got these shoes they were great. Required very little break in time, and very comfortable. However after 5 months of use i noticed every little stone i stepped on. I continued to wear them for about three months but then the toe area of the left shoe deteriorated the point where i couldn't where them when it rained. Also the sole is almost completely smooth.

I have to say that these shoes were absolutely amazing at first. As a few weeks passed, the shoes fell apart starting with the front of the shoe. I felt like my shoes were all of a sudden Nike's. If you have ever worn Nikes, they are the single worst shoes on the planet..They fall apart faster than they were made. I thought I had a new level of shoes when it came to Merrell's but I guess not. These intercepts looked like they were well built and could stand the test of time. I use the shoes frequently when we fossil hunt which is nothing more than hiking on fairly smooth areas of land. I really like what Merrell is trying to do, but the shoes don't stand up at all in the long run. I bought my Merrells a month ago and they are almost on their last leg now....and I have only worn them for manybe 10 days total. yikes!

I bought a pair of these shoes in January to replace an old pair of Merrell's I had for like 3 years. They performed wonderfully for the past 9 months at work and in the mountains. Other than the traction on wet surfaces I was impressed. Until, last Sunday. I went on a hike and came home with a hole in my toe from some pointy poky thing near my left middle toe. This had never happened before. Ouch.
