Great hiking shoe. Provides good stability on differing terrain. Able to pull the heel in snug by reverse lacing the top eye, which is how they arrived.

Great fit. Felt heavy out of the box but not on my feet. Forefoot of the shoe and toe box are roomy. I usually wear wides, but did not need it in this model.

Ordered this shoe in anticipation of hiking the Northern California redwoods. I have an ancient pair of Merrell clogs that I adore and the Merrell Barrado, so thought I'd give the Ventilator a try. Although support is very good and the toe box roomy and comfortable, the heel slips. These are going back. Thank you, Zappos, for stellar service!

Merrell makes great products. I returned this particular shoe because it was clunkier than I wanted. Probably a great shoe for more serious hikers, but I am just doing light hiking and trail walking, so I opted for a lighter Merrell that still had great traction (the All Out Crush Light, which I totally love, even just for everyday walking!).

I was looking for a summer hiking shoe with good support and ventilation to reduce how much my feet sweat. So far these have been great. I have not had a chance to do much hiking yet, but the fit is good and they feel very supportive of my feet.

Merrells seem to be inconsistent in sizing. The fit can be very different in the same size and the same shoe. Frustrating, but I keep trying because I like the shoe once I get a pair that fits.Comfortable and good support.

I've worn these all week as we've hiked around the Smoky Mountains. I've never owned proper hiking shoes and they make all the difference. I felt sure-footed and supported on all the trails. It was fairly warm but my feet never felt hot. Didn't encounter much rain so cannot comment on how they perform when wet.

I am on my third pair of these shoes in as many years and I plan on buying them forever. They are very comfortable and have great support. I am a big girl, over 250 lbs, and these shoes support me, haven't broken down and look great. They also help my plantar fasciititis and are roomy in the toe box. They are comfortable out of the box. I love this shoe!

Sadly, I didnt get to wear this shoe, though it was love at first sight. I'm writing a review for the small number of people who might have the same situation as me. I began having knee issues (involving meniscus, and possibly Bakers Cyst) while these shoes were on the way. And while my injuries seem on the mend, when I tried on the shoes I realized they have a strange narrow sole at the heel. The part that supports you each step, was narrower than the width of the shoe, if I'm explaining it right. I felt wobbling that my knee and ankle did NOT appreciate, and realized that until I am 100% again, I must find a pair of walking/hiking shoes with the flared heel, for stability in stepping. this is kind of like the promises made by Skechers before they were told to quit making such claims; that wobbling actually strengthens the tendons and ligaments as you wear them. I was told by a woman awaiting surgery for a messed up knee, that her surgeon informed her she no longer needed surgery after having worn the Skechers for a period of time. (these were the big wedge-sole ones that rocked as you walk) Anyway, I can't wear those or anything like them until my knee (and Dr.) give me the OK. As for fit and comfort of these Merrell Moab Ventilator shoes, they were long enough with a decent toe-box height, and normal softness and arch support, and no rubbing at the back, and not too stiff. I will say, had everything else been perfect the larger of the two sized I ordered would be the pair I picked. Alas, for now I must KEEP SHOPPING. Thanks ZAPPOS, for making it easy to try on several sizes and get free return shipping.

I got these over a year ago and I have put these shoes through a lot. I was backpacking for 7 months and they were my main sneakers for my trip. Overall they became an excellent shoe, but there are some things to note. They did take some time to break in and I did get blisters during this process. They are super comfortable but the first few times I wore them for hours at a time I got blisters on the sides of my heels. However my friend bought the same shoe and had none of these issues so I think it definitely depends on the foot. Once they were really broken into I had no issue and they gave me excellent support. Despite their appearance they are a lighter weight sneaker that was awesome for long walks and hikes. I love the gray and turquoise look and even when my shoes got super dirty, they still looked nice. One thing that really bothered me was that within a month of having them the top corners of the shoe began to tear. This happened with my friends pair too and it was before I even started traveling. I could have returned them but the shoe is great and I was able to overlook this minor flaw. Overall good sneaker and a great alternative if you don't want a heavy hiking boot.

I love Merrels for their real life applications! These are the best trail shoes I own. I hike, dirt, rocks, cement (yawn) water, cedar you name it. The mesh makes life very comfortable. I do not think they have adequate arch support but I pronate and have to wear orthotics, which fit comfortably in the shoe.

These shoes were comfortable right out of the box and were the first in years to give me no blisters or hot spots or soreness. Great shoes! However, they were not durable at all. I had holes through the sides within a week of hiking and after a month of hiking every day, most of the main seams had given out. To get them to last three months of hiking, I had to sew them up twice. But they were so comfy! Wish they had lasted a bit longer.

After not owning a pair of rather horrible, blister-giving Nike hiking shoes - which actually came in awesome colors and received so many compliments - for well over 10 years, I decided to order a new pair of hiking shoes now that I live just a block from a big hiking park. Despite very mixed reviews, I ordered my usual 7½ size. I would have to say that the shoes are true to size. However, do expect a rather wide toe box - all the more reason to wear thick camping socks! I also wanted a pair that was not too camp-like, outdoorsy, or depressing in colors. I ordered Smoke and it came out very nice and it is so easy to combine them with almost any casual clothes. I wish it did not cost so much. But I do expect them to last a long time. In case you wonder why they are so cheap, remember that they have air mesh which is pretty much for warm spring and summer days. Wool socks, anyone?

Love the look! Love how light they are! Great color and am looking forward to breaking in a new pair on some good trails - had to exchange the 9s for a pair of 9.5s - the right foot felt short and my toe was bumping up to the front of the shoe - and that was just casually walking on carpet - I didn't want to risk that happening on the trails, and then not be able to return them. Hopefully just a small bump up by a 1/2 size will help. Otherwise, really great shoe.

Overall I really like this shoe. I am a big fan of Merrell but have a really narrow foot. This shoe fits my foot perfectly. My only issues are that it is a bit more stiff than I had wanted and the heel cushion is not quite what I need. I have added a gel insert and the problems were solved. Those are the reasons I gave it a 4 rather than a 5 star rating.

Shoes are very comfortable with a wide toe box, which is good; however, the tongue comes up very high and hits my ankle, so I had to return them.

Super comfy lightweight shoe. using for backpacking. I use my own footbeds inside. Only issue with Merrell is their sizing, I have 3 different Merrells, 3 different sizes. Hard to choose a size online. 4 stars for sizing issues.

My husband LOVES his Moab Ventilators, and encouraged me to order a pair for hot day hikes. I liked the, but did not love them. I am keeping the Merrell Siren 2 though! More toe room, lighter weight, and more ventilated. Stiff sole, padded, rugged lugs, just too much for my 1-2 hour hikes with the dogs in the Arizona desert!

I ordered these because they are advertised as a stability shoe. Unfortunately, these are not truly a stability shoe. The shoe is very flexible and easily bent in any direction. This will not work for my feet. For those who do not have foot problems, this would be a great shoe. Basically as comfortable as wearing slippers.

Shoe was scuffed and worn. Fit OK. Not very cushioned on bottom. On outside of ankle, label irritated ankle bone. Really liked … going to try another Merrell brand.

I like all of my Merrell shoes. Don't get me wrong, these are very comfortable. Right out-of-the-box I wore them for an eight hour shift at work, standing the whole time. My feet felt great. But they are really heavy! You may want to try the Siren Sport. I have owned both and the Siren Sport fits my needs better, a little lighter and less bulky.

I loved the looks of this shoe. It ran short for my foot. I usually buy and 11 for extra wiggle room in my athletic shoes. Sadly, an 11 is the largest size this shoe comes in. I have to return them.
