Definitely order one size larger than what you usually wear. I am a true 7.5 and I figured I would just get the 7-7.5, even though I had read that I should get a size larger. I thought that the "7" in the "7-7.5" would accommodate the fact that these shoes run a bit large. But no. I returned my shoes and exchanged them for the 6-6.5 and they fit perfectly. Birkenstocks are definitely shoes that you have to break in. The cork and the leather eventually just conform to your feet and the way you walk so even if it may seem uncomfortable at first, I would say keep on wearing them. The plastic thong doesn’t really bother me that much, but at the same time I don’t have a really tight space between my big and second toes. If you are looking for a thong shoe that is quite rugged and comfortable to walk in, these shoes are a great choice. They aren’t too clunky, which was what I was worried about. But they are substantial shoes. These aren’t flip flops. They don’t flip nor do they flop. They are elegant shoes that are meant for wearing all the time. I would say try them because you don’t have much to lose when you are using Zappos.

I want to like these, I really do. The toe separator just rubs terribly, but only on my right foot. These would be so much better if that piece was pliable leather. I'm going to keep trying to break them in, but I don't know....

I ordered these after my previous pair of Birkenstock Gizeh of 15+ years finally wore out. When I got my new ones, I thought that maybe the design, style or cut had changed. The toe band was much skinnier and the leather still had cut marks in it. I chalked this up to the fact that they are hand tooled. However the more I looked at the pictures, not only the ones from Zappos on the pair I ordered, but of others from the Birkenstock website, I see that they aren't supposed to look like this. I'm not sure what happened with the pair I received, but since I chose to wear them before looking into this, I cannot send them back. I did give 5 stars for comfort because they are just as comfortable as Birks are supposed to be.

This is my third pair of Birkenstock's purchased from Zappos. They are always delivered timely, and the product is authentic Birkenstock....no knock off 's here. This is my second pair of Gizeh's, which are truly my favorite style. I also have a pair of Arizona, that are cute, and comfy, by really have that "hippie" vibe going on. The Gizeh is stylish, so comfortable, and TTS (I'm normally a size 8.5 medium, and I purchased the 39 medium in this style). Many people (me included on my first pair of Arizona's) think they should order down.....DO NOT DO THIS!!! If anything, order a narrow fit if you feel the shoe is too big. To get the orthopedic benefits, the shoe must fit correctly, with the toes not quite touching the top of the shoe, and the heel of your foot fitting correctly into the heel cup of the shoe. I also prefer the standard insole, which is firmer, but also holds up better. When you get your shoes, if it's the first pair, start wearing them for short periods of time to start allowing the insole to conform to your footbed....seriously, it works. These will become your absolute favorite pair of shoes in a short period of time.

Loved these shoes. They’re my first pair of Birkenstocks. I originally ordered my regular size, 8, but they ended up being to big. I sized down to a 7 and they fit great. The picture attached shows both sizes, with the 8 on the right, 7 on the left. I am a true 8 but the 7’s definitely fit best. They also took a few days to break in but once we got past the first few days, they were great and go with so many things. Great spring/summer/fall sandals.

Zappos' staff was very helpful. I have several of these shoes. I love the white leather for summer. They fit true to size.

This is my second pair of Gizeh shoes and I love them. The oiled leather is nice, subtle and warm, and I will keep them, but I must say I like last year's bronze leather better. It doesn't seem to be available. Wonderful to find a stylish Birkenstock!

I love these. Like my other Birks, that lasted 15 years and actually still look like new, these have taken a few wearings for the beds to form to my feet. What once felt like an annoying little ridge by one of my toes has molded down and now, of course, they fit like a glove. I love this more feminine style that still says Birkenstock.

I’m not sure who is at fault but I was really disappointed to receive my Birkenstock sandals. Because of the severity in the color difference, I’m a little online-shy to return to repurchase. I might just try them on in store. Or find another comfy sandal.

The fit is perfect. The color is off. I ordered the Tabacco Oiled Leather (which I have from years ago but it was time for a new pair) and the color is not right. This color is supposed to be varying shades of brown and it is really a lovely look. The pair I received is uniform in color and light (like I now see in others' reviews). Since it is leather, each pair should look a little different, but the color I received from Zappos is not even close to what I expected. The photo shows the pair I bought from Zappos on the left, and the pair I just bought at my local store on the right. I am not sure if Zappos received a mislabeled batch of these shoes but be forewarned that the color is not as it is pictured in the Zappos example.

This is my second pair in the Gizeh. Solid shoe. Wore the heal down on my other pair. I will buy these for as long as they are made. I don’t know why I buy any other kind of spring/fall/summer shoe… these are the best. I wear a size 9 but ordered the 8-8.5 (39).

I love these so much! They are SO comfortable and also stylish. I usually wear a 7.5 to 8.5. I knew to order these in the size that said women's 6.5 because I tried them on in a department store first. If you just ordered them without trying them on, go for a size smaller than you think you should.

I read a previous comment about getting comfort with this style & they were correct. The right size matters so much. I’m a consistent 9 1/2 and ordered the 40 which in Birks is my best fit. I tried this style in a 41 and they hurt bad. The key is tightening the strap as much as you can. This prevents the toe piece from digging in. I really like this style a lot. I can relate to those that experienced pain when I didn’t have the correct size.

These are probably my 4th pair of Gizehs, and maybe 8th pair of Birkenstocks. I literally just opened the box and so far everything is as expected, except for the color. The Tobacco Oiled Leather is that the color in real life is much, much lighter than what's shown on the Zappos website. A note on sizing: I normally wear an 8 or 8.5 (39) in other shoes. I size down for my Birkenstocks because I like them to fit like a glove. 38 fits my foot perfectly.

These are the most supportive sandal I’ve ever worn. I have heel pain from plantar fasciitis, and these sandals give me the support I need to wear them all day long. These take a little bit of time to wear them in, but not in an agonizing uncomfortable way. The more you wear these sandals the more you love them! Just a FYI, I thought they ran a little large. I usually wear a 8-8.5, and the 39 was too big. I exchanged them for a 38, and they fit like a glove.

This is my second pair of Gizeh Birkenstocks. I wore my other pair out. These are the most comfortable summer shoes. I wear a US women’s 8, and the 38 fits me perfectly.

Growing up I played a lot of sports. Unfortunately, bad feet seem to run in my family and I’ve found things catching up with me as I’ve gotten older. This summer my feet were really bothering me and my work shoes weren’t helping. I found that wearing a pair old (legit 25 years) Birks that I have at home was helping. Knowing that Birkenstock has branched our into less bulky classic styles, I decided to hunt for a pair that might work for work. These turned out to be perfect! I bought them in the leather rather than plastic (sorry, Birkoflor or whatever) with the hope of longer life (like I said, I’ve had another pair for over 25 years) and I just thought it looked a bit nicer. They totally work for a casual summer office. Two things: the sizing guide suggested one size larger than I normally wear in Birks so I went with my old size instead and they worked out great. Also, people aren’t lying about the piece between the toes being super stiff. I found after a couple of months of wear it wasn’t so deadly though. They totally saved my feet!

If you want one pair of Birkenstocks these are perfect...the tan leather is a great neutral and super comfortable..my go to sandal! Wear a 7.5 and the size 38 fit well...

These offer the best support while also looking fashionable and not too utilitarian. I see them on other ladies all the time. They match so many different looks!

I love Birkenstocks! This is the first time I've worn this style and it stays true to the quality and performance I've come to expect from the brand.

So unbelievably comfortable. This is my second pair and I would happily buy a third. I've worn these basically every other day for five months.

Finally, a sandal that fits my narrow foot. I have tried countless comfy sandals looking for the perfect one. Merrells, Mephisto, etc. None of them worked. I purchased these for a trip to Disney and they were comfy, didn't slip off my foot, and didn't make my feet sweat. Awesome find!

These are so cute! I love them! It had been several years since I had bought a pair of Birkenstocks. I had forgotten how supportive the footbed was. It took me a little bit to get used to it, but it is smooth sailing from there.

I bought myself a pair of these liked them so well bought my daughter a pair they not not only look good they feel good young or old, I am 64 she is 45 ND 16 year old would love them good support also.

I am getting back into running and wanted a sandal that would provide arch support. I am beginning to think these sandals are more comfortable than being barefoot! I ordered them on Thursday morning and they were here before I got home from work on Friday! They are very comfortable sandals and are somewhat stylish! I normally wear a 7½ but based on the reviews, I ordered a 37 in these and they fit perfectly!
