Since I have a lot of difficulty buying shoes that fit and are supportive for my many foot issues, I use Zappos so that I can try on and return what a doesn't fit without a hassle. Regarding this particular shoe: I have most recently had an ankle and tendon issue which never healed and is now affecting my knee. These shoes are the first I have tried that do not give me pain in my ankle and Achilles. They have excellent support, and are leather on the inside of the foot, which gives more support than the Saucony Walker, which chose to put the vinyl on the inside. While some people thought they were clunky, I found that the plain top design minimized this, and frankly I can deal with them for the pain relief I have received by wearing these. I plan on buying a black pair for winter and trying the beige. They also fit my rather high orthotic, and they have room in the toe box. I'm very happy with this purchase. I wasn't even contemplating a trip to NYC , Montreal, and the summer fair season because of the foot issues, but now, I think I might be able to do these things again with my family!

I had planter's faciitis and started wearing Brooks Ghost 10 with orthotics, which helped. But the PF still stings once in a while. So for the winter I got the Brooks Addiction Walker shoes in Black leather which fit perfectly and did the trick. I wear an 8 wide. For the summer I am going back to Ghost 10 and white leather Brooks Addiction Walker shoes, which seem not to have changed from last year, with my orthotics. The shoes are wonderful. My doctor told me to get new shoes every 500 miles and this appears to be true for me in fending off any PF residual pain.

This is the second pair of Brooks Addiction walker shoes that I purchased. I have Plantar Faciatis and these are the only shoes that are comfortable. I have Supef Feet inserts that I use with these shoes and I walk two miles a day in them. Excellent shoes, comfortable and they also look nice. Highly recommend, I buy a new pair every year.

These are the best supportive walking shoes I've ever worn. I won't buy any other shoe for walking (on the treadmill or casual walking). I've been wearing these for years. I take out the insole that comes with this shoe and replace it with an orthotic insole specifically made for plantar fasciitis (vionic orthaheel inserts). I never have any type of foot, ankle or leg pain with this combination.

These shoes are great. I had to send back the women's because they were too narrow however I switched to the men's because they are wider.

I never tried Brooks before... as soon as I put these on I knew they were the best shoes I have ever had on my feet! So comfortable!!! Will definitely be buying again!

I’ve been buying Brooks for several years since New Balance discontinued their wide leather walking shoes. I was working in a medical setting on concrete floors & these shoes helped me survive. I use the EE width per my podiatrist which are harder to find. I also was told to buy new shoes every 6 months if your walking everyday in the same shoes. I found this to be true no matter which shoe I bought. So the people complaining about them wearing out by 1,000 miles might want to buy 2 pair & alternate them. Although I’m no longer working, I still put a lot of miles on these shoes, find them stable(I walk in open uneven fields with my dog) good support for my overpronation, easy to clean. And since I am flat footed, very comfortable for the little arch I do have. No corns or bunions. Happy Feet!

I ordered the wide in 8 1/2 but I could tell by looking at the shoe that it was going to be too narrow. I just called Zappo's and Stacy helped me order the extra wide. This shoe was recommended by my podiatrist.

Feels very stable with good ankle support. Comfortable if stiff to walk in. Ordered my regular size as all athletic shoes seem to stretch after awhile.

I have worn these for years and love them except I need a shoe that has no skid slip resistant for work. I wish they changed the bottom of the shoe to make this. I have tried some other shoes that are just not as comfortable for my wide feet and bunions. Maybe they can add a work style to this collection. I had a slip and fall last year that was very bad these shoes just don't provide that kind of safety depending on your work you do.

Excellent shoe for walking all day.

I was not able to exercise walk because of shin splints. Went from 5 miles a day to none. These have solved the problem! No more pain.

I ordered a size 8 and the size was perfect. I've always had problems with shoes fitting properly, (often issues with one foot but not the other), but I was pleasantly surprised to have no problems, not even slippage in the heels, which is a frequent problem. I did still have problems with one arch aching a lot, but that's been a long-time problem that probably a shoe alone is not going to fix. If you're like me and have to go through a dozen brands to find just one that fits, this may end up being your lucky brand too. Glad to finally have an excellent walking shoe.

For me, the sign of a GREAT shoe is that I forget I'm wearing them. It didn't take long for these to pass that test. I bought them for a trip where I was going to be doing a lot of walking, and they were awesome. They were comfortable from the start, but I was glad I took a few days to wear them in before leaving. The uppers are soft and hug your foot. The soles are thick and provide excellent cushioning/padding and arch support (which is where a lot of shoes fall short for me). They are a pleasure to walk in. I started out in late summer/early fall, and my feet sometimes got a little hot in them, but as the weather cooled off, that wasn't a problem -- probably not so great for the summertime. In terms of style, they basically look like black sneakers, which -- for me -- is better than sneakers with neon colors or really wide-toed orthotic-looking shoes. You are not going to wear these to a cocktail party, but for anything casual, they can pass for black shoes, especially with black pants. One note about sizing: I ordered these in the medium width, and I might have tried the wide if I hadn't been leaving so soon on my trip. These fit fine, but the top of the sneaker is probably a little more open than it should be. I am usually good with a regular shoe that runs a little wide, or a wide shoe that's not too wide. So if you're in that category, consider the wide version.

I have a lot of difficulty finding comfortable shoes and usually wear sneakers. The first time I wore them was for standing on my feet for three hours. My feet felt no different than had I been sitting for those three hours. Rally, really sturdy and comfortable.

These shoes are great for walking. I bought them for a trip so I could wear sneakers all day long. They look cute, are very comfortable and my feet were not at all tired at the end of the day. Very comfortable. I even did a 10 mile hiking trip and my feet were not fatigued. If your feet are wide you may need to buy the Extra wide. Which I had to.

I needed an all black shoe for work and wanted a shoe that would be comfortable enough to walk in. I walk 4 to 6 miles per day and these are perfect. I love the support these shoes give me.

Amazing and supportive! I have many foot and ankle issues. A severe overpronator and I could wear without orthodotics!

I didn't even try them on. I'm petite and these shoes are huge and clunky. They would look like hooves on my feet.

Love, love these shoes! As others have said, not the cutest/most fashionable, but they are so comfortable and supportive that they are forgiven for being a bit homely. I love Brooks and have multiple pairs. This is my second pair of "walkers" and they will carry my all over the world, while not in great style, in the great comfort..an that is what really counts. At the end of the day,my feet are happy feet. Thank you Brooks, and thank you Zappos for making shopping so easy.

This is my first time trying the Brooks Addiction Walker. I really liked the quality feel upon taking them out of the box. When I tried them on I found they were not wide enough for my foot. I think I will have to return them for an Extra Wide pair. I like the thick sole, color is good. Arch support was strong for my foot at first try on but the next time I tried them on they seemed fine so maybe my feet were just sensitive that day. A nice walking shoe and perfect for those times when 'tennie' just won't work but you still need the support.

I bought by husband a pair of Brooks Addiction Walkers. He liked there so well, that I bought me a pair and I love them.

AMAZINGLY COMFY! I feel like walking on clouds! I have wide feet and I stand on my feet 8 hours a day! these are the perfect shoes for the job!

I was looking for a neutral walking shoe for my wide feet that I'll be wearing during an upcoming 3 week trip to Europe. First, I went to a local store and spent WAY too much money on shoes that felt good at the store, but no longer felt good after my daily 5 mile walk. Then I went to a local hiking store where they stretched a gorgeous pair of hiking shoes to fit my wide feet. They, too, had to be returned. Then it occurred to me that maybe Brooks, who makes my running shoes that I LOVE, might have something that works - and they did! I've had them for 3 weeks now and my feet feel great during and after every walk. No more blisters. Love that they come in wide sizes!

I had a knee replaced in March and when I started outpatient PT, my therapist took one look at my pronating feet and immediately suggested Brooks. I bought a pair of their athletic shoes and as soon as I put them on, I felt my legs and hips straighten. Recognizing that I should also have a pair to wear in the house, especially when standing for lengths of time, I ordered a pair of these. Smart move! These may not look very stylish but they sure reduce back pain and leg strain. Can't say they have improved my cooking but they have improved my attitude when in the kitchen!
