I have owned many pairs in black and black & brown. I wear these to work. I usually replace the heels two or three times then replace the shoes. They are usually very comfortable. The last pair I bought made noise when walking on a hard surface. This has happened before. The replacement pair feels way too small and may be mismarked. I not too happy about making another trip to the outlet store, but that's the only place I can find the all black version.

I've bought J&M for years, but this is the first inexpensive shoe I've bought. I keep my shoes 1-2 yrs and wear them 5 days/week. I've owned 3 pairs of this shoe and I'm happy with the comfort and style, but not with the durability. The composite rubber/leather sole comes apart after just a couple months. I've resoled, but the uppers aren't good but for another year. The finish mars easily from normal wear and is hard to keep looking good. The tassels come off and the skirt rolls up on the edges. My current pair is little over a year old and while maintained, look heavily worn. A more practical shoe would be a solid leather and single color loafer.

Loved the first pair of these I bought over a year ago but am disappointed with this pair. Doesn't fit like previous pair despite being exact same size. Black rubs off edge of sole which results in dirty pant legs. Shoes have never been polished so not sure why this is happening. Have never had new shoes do this.

Cool looking shoe. Had a concern about the long term comfort. Just had back surgery and I am nervous about needing a break in or if I could not wear them. Returned them due to this. Probably me not the shoes. Bought the same style from different shoe maker and so far very pleased. P.S. I have many pairs of J&MS , really like them and will consider them in the future.

Was very disappointed to see shoes were made in [*] Outsole trim of left shoe was not done well and is a bit oversized...quality not as good as prior pair. Not sure I will buy again based on this experience.

One draw back and disapointment is that I wear a casual shoe with out socks and fairly quickly the insole has seperated from the bottom of the shoe so when I take the shoe off the shoe insole also comes out. I have had similar shoes from J&M that I have worn in the same manner and did not have this issue.

Wear them with typical work attire, golf shirt and slacks. Mostly office work but some walking and moving between offices and buildings. Look great but I need more instep support and cushioning, more like exercise shoes. Have tried thicker socks....still trying to figure out a solution as I like the look.

Johnston and Murphy have gone the "[@]" one size fits all way. Now, in the stores, they want to "force" a shoe to fit, rather than build it to fit. You still have to make them narrow, medium, and wide. Period. Hate to say it, but I think you have lost this long time customer.

Great looking shoe. However, ordered a narrow and it's much wider than previous shoes of the same type. Must wear thicker sock to enjoy.

I have been wearing this model for years and have had many pair. The latest ones have had quality degredated in the insole and in wear on the sole. The rubber inserts on the bottom are not an improvement and need to be changed back to full leather. Insole used to be more comfortable but has changed in softness and comfort.

i was disapointed with this show as it shows the grain and is more of a matte finish vs a polished leather..

I've bought this shoe design regulalrly for two decades or more. The previous model was slightly less comfortable but substantially more durable, and a "classsier" look with more subtle stitching. This version has a more comfotable sole, but my last two pairs have fallen apart within months of purchase. I think it is slightly cheaper, and often on sale, but they are "disposable" shoes, like sneakers, They are not shoes to be maintained and worn for years.

This is the third pair of this product that I have purchased. Two have been very good, but one pair was obviously mismatked for the width. It was marked as a narrow but was most likely a medium. I wore them for awhile then started to use them for house shoes

I work in a Congressional office, which means I have to be dressed up most days. It also means I wear out my shoes - which also means I need support, comfort and style on a daily basis. My first pair lasted me a month, after which the heel started coming loose and there was a terrible squeak in my step, even on carpet. J&M's return policy is excellent and the awesome store rep handed me a new pair as soon as I walked in the store. This second pair has lasted two months, but after a while becomes very hard to walk in. The sole is stiff, and the cushion minimal, so while they look nice with a weekly shine, I have to take them off when I'm not in meetings, as they hurt your feet after extended use. Still though, they do less damage than similar shoes from other companies, but I'd recommend that you look at a different model if you're on your feet as much as I am. Your feet will thank you later!

I really like this shoe. It is very comfortable now that it is broken in. The only down side to this shoe is that they put rubber insterts into the leather sole to make them last longer. Unfortunately, the rubber is not staying attached.

Decent, but not great. Good enough for the money. Just something light to wear during the summer.

Have owned several pairs of shoes from J&M. I cannot believe that you would sell shoes that the soles are made of leather and rubber. Make the shoe feel cheap and not constructed as well as an all leather sole. And you sell this shoe for[$] give me a break!
