I'm on the fence about whether or not to recommend these. On the one hand, they are some of the most comfortable boots I've ever had, right out of the box. Have worn them for weekend walks and light hikes (under 5 miles at a time, for work as an elementary teacher, and to the barn. They are comfy, supportive, waterproof, and work with my orthotics. On the other hand, I've had them less than 6 months, and the right one is showing so much wear (cracks in sole and traction bumps have come off) that I'm thinking I need a new pair. I've worn them regularly, but not daily, and not on any serious, heavy duty hikes. Love them, but not impressed with how they've held up to use for the money. Will look around before deciding. Have a narrow foot that can be hard to fit, and have had foot problems which resulted in the orthotics from podiatrist. These have been sooo comfortable. Maybe I just got a defective one?
I'd also recommend:

I've been looking for a light winter shoe with good support. My current Patagonia Drifter have given all they can. Patagonia doesn't have the Drifter in leather so I'm looking for something as comfortable. These Timberland boots are too wide in the front. The ball of my feet hurt a lot after trying them on for a little while. They are true to size, but too roomy in the front. A bit disappointed, but Zappos service is the best! That is why I'm not giving up on finding a good fit. Thank you Zappos!

These are not waterproof. My feet are always getting wet in these. Went for a walk on a rainy day in the woods, one sock soaked, the other damp. and my feet are always sweating in these also

After 2 attempts walking an easy 3-4 mile flat trail I constantly felt a pinch in my lower back. I think these are just too heavy for my petite frame. I've never in my life experienced such back pain. After 2 days wearing other shoes back pain subsides. Such a shame! I love these sturdy boots!! Will have to donate then to someone who can wear as intend.

These boots fit perfect, are very cushioned and comfortable, and super cute! I loved everything about them, except 2 very off-putting characteristics that is unlike both Zappos and Timberland's quality of product/service:
#1: There were scuff marks all over the leather uppers when I took them out of the box, as if they had been worn.
#2: When I went to tighten the left boot, the third eyelet from the bottom snapped out of place and will not stay back in.
I am returning the boots to Zappos and am hoping it was just a fluke of a poorly made pair. Beyond that, once I get a new pair, these will be my go-to's for hiking and trail walking!

They look like the pair I enjoyed wearing the past 6 years but they are really stiff and too tight thru the toes.

I was super excited about these but the moment I put them on, the pros were far outweighed by the cons, which are as follows:
--the placement of the tongue/laces pulls your feet INWARD!!! what the heck?!
--even with big bulky socks, there's way too much room above the toes....the first step I took after lacing up made a big crease across the middle of the boot
--the roominess mentioned above is NOT because I ordered the wrong size. In fact, I've known Timberlands to run small, so I sized up by 1/2 a size and the length was fantastic.
--there's hardly any arch support and not enough sole cushioning, which is surprising given its intended use (hiking on rugged terrain)
On the flip side, they seem very sturdy, well-made and look like they'd hold up for several seasons of heavy use. They're not too bulky or heavy either.
I love Timberland shoes, always have, but I've never been able to own a pair because the fit is always too wide or roomy in the toes. I've tried a few different styles, same problem. I hadn't tried Tims hiking boots yet so I gave it one last go, but now I unfortunately have to accept the fact that my feet are just too narrow to be a Timberland customer =(

Ordered size 6 regular which is my normal size. Turns out they are small and narrow. Have to return them.

I bought these hiking boots to replace the Timberland hiking boots I've had for over 15 years. I have always worn a size 8, and my old Timberlands were very comfortable. The new ones, however, were made for someone with an extremely narrow foot, even though they are also size 8. I could barely get them laced up, and my feet looked like 10 pound hams stuffed into 5 pound tins. Very tight and uncomfortable across entire width. If I can't rely on consistent sizing from Timberland, then I can't buy online. Returns are too iffy (if lost in the mail, you take no responsibility and the customer just loses the money) or inconvenient (having to find a store to take them back in person). Very disappointed, because I loved my first pair of hiking boots. As it is, I will be making the trip to a store to return these this week.

Unfortunately they are not built for wide feet, even though I ordered a wide, like my old Timberlands.

I have been buying these boots for years. I first bought them because they were waterproof. I walk my dogs in some wet weather and these boots keep my feet dry and warm. They have held up well and were very comfortable.
BUT, the last two pairs that I have bought have NOT held up and don't seem to be made as well as the boots from the past. I even sent Timberland an e-mail asking what has happened to these boots that were so wonderful. I have not gotten a reply from them.
I was telling a sales person at a sporting goods store how much I had loved these boots but don't anymore. The sales person said they may be made in a different country now. Hey Timberland...why not try making them in the good ole USA? You ruined a wonderful boot. For profit? What a shame.

I loved these shoes for about a year an a half. Great for hiking and for snow. But unfortunately, after ~1.5 years they are no longer waterproof. If I come in contact with any moisture above the sole (a sizable puddle or snow), the water gets through and my socks get soaking wet. This breaks my heart because I used to love these boots. But for the price I would expect a longer life. Unfortunately customer service said they could not do anything since it's beyond the year warranty.

looking for boots and shoes. healing from plantar fasciitis and achilies tendonitis. These were much too stiff. I don't know if they would loosen up but couldn't bear it while they did. I need comfort now. I didn't like the looks of them much either.

I am a health inspector and we farm and milk cows. Mainly have used these boots for work. I'm not sure what is going on. I've been buying them for years - probably on my 4th/5th pair. The last two pair have been disappointing. The greenish fabric between the laces and the outer side of the shoe has either fallen apart or ripped away from the outer side of the shoe. When it happened with the first pair I thought it was a fluke, but now a 2nd pair has done the exact same thing. Very disappointing!

I want to immediately return this boot as it hurts my toes. Even with bpretty small feet the regular version is very tight and extremely uncomfortable and suffocating. I cannot walk in them for more than an hour. not sure how everyone has positive comments. maybe i should have ordered the wider version.

These hiking boots are gorgeous. I really wanted them to work, but I simply could not tolerate wearing them. My left outside 3 toes felt so smashed together that I could not walk far due to the pain. Not good for a hiking boot. I had ordered a half size larger than my normal size, and I do not think ordering a full size larger would make them more comfortable. They are that painful.

Sadly, I had to return -- the boots pressed uncomfortably just above my ankles, no matter how I tried to tie them.

Used item. Had white substance dripped on it and scuffs all over. Shoe is narrow and the toe bed collapses when you bend so it would create blisters on top of your foot.

I owned these for less than 6 months and probably wire them for a total of 2 months out of that 6. The whole bottom of the boot has came off completely on one of the boots and is starting to fall off on the other boot. I own quite a few pairs of timbs and I've never had this happen with any of my pairs.

My first pair of these booths were HEAVEN from the fist time I put them on. But, this pair looked like the same booth but were stiff, smaller, although I ordered the same size, the laces were so short you could barely tie a bow. I noticed that the second pair were mad in a different country than the first. It is as if they sent the old patters, that had been cut so many times they were cut down, to a new vender. The materials were not the same. Very hard sharp spots on the inside that would have been very uncomfortable to break in. I sent them back. I wished I would have bought a second pair right away

The fit of these boots is terrible! My wife and I each ordered these boots and we are both returning them. The fit is too narrow. If you have an unusually narrow foot, it would likely work for you.
I'd also recommend:
Using Merrell hiking boots, comfortable, water proof.

I ordered this boot, and found that it was too small. I returned it, asking for an exchange for a different style, and was told that Timberland does not "do exchanges" because inventory changes too quickly. But instead of receiving a full refund, the $27 shipping charge was not included. YET, on the website, it says "Free Shipping - Free Returns." I am very disappointed, and am gobsmacked by the entire experience.
