I bought this boot almost a decade ago and used them thousands of times, so when they finally wore a hole and became not completely waterproof, I decided to buy the same pair again. For the first use, I wore them on a 5 mile mountainous hike, and they were immediately comfortable. They are definitely waterproof (I waded through a river to check).

I wore the boots for the first time yesterday on the magnificent Gaff Trail in Lunenburg NS and they performed beautifully. I had a spring in my step for over three hours on rocks, wood, shale, sand, puddles and more. Sturdy and comfortable the whole way. I don't mind a bit that they lace up and take a minute to put on. The thing I did mind was that in hiking your feet often push forward, especially on the descent and I found myself wishing I had bought size 10.5, not 10. No luck, I came on the site thinking I would just buy a half size up and give the brand new size 10 to my sister--I really like these boots!--but half sizes stop at size 10. Darn. Could you guys do something about that? I think they would sell! And I promise I'll help spread the word that for once a shoe company cares about the bigger sizes as much as the small ones.

Hiking and as outdoor work boots, excellent. It is very hard for a women to find a good pair of work boots when your career is ground maintenance or any kind of outdoor work, horticulture. It appears that companies cater to men.

I'm on my fourth pair in probably 6 years. I love them so much I bought two pair the last time. They are my go to, everyday boot. I wear them for work. I wear them for yard work. I wear them for casual. Basically I wear them all the time unless I'm dressed up, working out or sleeping. I walked in puddles over the laces and stay completely dry. The absolute, only problem I have ever had is with the laces. I have them fray at the instep where the eyelet rubs but new laces are cheap. It would be awesome if you also offered them in black. I love these boots!

my old pair of Timberland boots I used for hiking in the snow and snow-shoeing, finally fell apart and I needed a new pair, so I compared many other manufacturers to the newer Timberland offers and settled on this one. I'm very happy with the comfort and warmth of this boot, plus it's lighter on my feet than the old pair, which I find to be more comfortable.

This is my second pair. They have the same great fit, support, and rugged gripping sole. Excellent long lasting metal lace holders. I love the extra ankle height. A cushy, removable insole would be nice but heavy socks can do that trick. I wore my first pair both hiking and to work, walking on concrete floors - I had no foot or back pain at all!

These shoes are great, but they run a little small. I usually wear size 5½W, but I needed a 6W in these shoes. They are very comfortable and provide very good support. They are definitely winners.

I first ordered this shoe in a 9W. I reordered in a 9½W. While the length is fine, the width is still a bit narrow when wearing wool socks. This shoe is well made, however, I also found that the new buck on this shoe marks quite easily.

After extensive research I ordered 3 pairs of hiking boots to try on my size 8.5-9 wide feet. The other two were way too narrow and one of them was even a W size. These were far and away the MOST comfortable hikers(or any shoe really including tennies) I've ever put on my foot. I ordered size 9 W and they fit perfectly. plenty of room in the toe box and across the arch where my foot is the widest(we're talking perfectly square hobbit feet here). They feel very supportive without being too tight anywhere. I didn't want to take them off just around the house!! I can't wait to hit the hiking trails and try them out in my first Montana winter. These are the best fit and comfort I've found.
I'd also recommend:
None. This is the best for my foot.

I bought these boots at the last minute before a two week trip to Norway. They were by far the best purchase I made! I didn't have time to break them in before leaving, and they never hurt or rubbed the whole time. I'm a naturally clumsy person but the traction on these are great (I even wore them hiking a glacier). I highly recommend these!

These boots fit the minute you put them on. You don't have to break them in. I walk several miles a day and hike often. My feet never feel tired or sore wearing these boots.

These are extremely comfortable boots! I bought them for a weekend in North Carolina. My mom and sister bought a pair as well. We wore them hiking for two days and didn't have any problems. Being a Florida flip-flop/sandal girl, I wasn't antsy to get the shoes off at the end of the day. I normally wear a 9EE, but the 9.5 Wide fit perfectly. It is so difficult to find nice looking, comfortable shoes for a wide foot. Thank you Zappos for carrying a wide variety of shoes for me.

I took these boots, new out of the box, on an 9 day elk hunt where we hiked through rugged terrain all day long - my feet were the only part of my body that was not sore! I am so impressed and in love with these boots. I have bunions on both feet so the wide fit was perfect. I did order a 1/2 size larger to accommodate for Scholls gel inserts and wool socks.

Two days before my trip to Switzerland and The Netherlands I realized I was the only one in our group that wasn't bringing hiking boots. I ran to Zappos and overnighted this pair. Zappos you guys saved me. These boots are fantastic! They went from box, straight to suitcase, and straight onto my feet for hiking up the Swiss Alps. And they were SUPER comfortable! And helped me navigate steep trails while keeping my feet dry. I loved them so much I wore them the entire trip, even in the city.

I brought a pair of these in 2009 to replace a much earlier version, pretty much wore them all the time except in winter. They died in july 2015. Brought the second pair. Feels like i never lost them. They were a little snug around the width of the toes, but in about two days loosened up. Its like walking on cushions, easy to get in and out of, and the shoelaces are industrial,

Purchased same boot 17 years ago and wore them out. I then tried some other brands and wasn't happy so went back to this and so glad I did. I am 8.5 and ordered 8.5 fits wonderful with no break in time needed. Great ankle support for walking on uneven ground. The seamless toe area means no inside stitching to rub on top of foot like I experienced with other boots. I wear a medium weight boot type sock and fit is great. Well worth the price. Hope they are still making theses when mine wear out.

I bought these boots to replace my GoLight hiking sneakers. I needed something more durable and waterproof. These boots are fantastic. They're comfortable, durable and my feet stay dry while walking through mud and water. I'd highly recommend these boots. My boyfriend recommended them to me, as he has had his for about 10 years or so now. Great boot!

Bought these boots last summer (1 year ago) and have worn them on several hiking trips as well as around town and during winter. I'm a size 8, bought 8.5 and fits perfectly with enough room for hiking needs or thick socks. Great support for ankles, waterproof, easy to maintain with NuBuck spray several times a year. Definitely recommend them!

My main problem with these boots is the width is too narrow despite getting a wide width. I had to remove the laces and use my shoe stretchers to get the boots to stretch properly across the upper part of the area by the toes where it should have been the widest.

I cannot talk this boot up enough! Completely waterproof, and very warm in the winter. I used this boot well, and loved every minute of wear. They fit like a glove, with no break-in time. I wore these walking our usual 2.5 miles a day when athletic shoes became hard on my feet. No pain, absolutely no pain. I wish to God Timberland would bring back my size in these because the only disappointing thing about these boots is that I can no longer get them in a 10 W. There is absolutely no replacement for these, and I have tried. Best boot ever!!!
