Too big? Too small? I purchased a pair for a Christmas gift, and after reading the reviews, ordered a half size larger, but then they ended up being too big. The recipient loved them, but I need to return for a smaller size. Otherwise a great product and a big hit.

Love this shoe! It is very stylish and comfortable. Was a little hesitant to order with the fit problems listed in reviews, but this one worked for me. I fit in an 8.5 Earth and Born shoe and I got an 8.5 in this J-41. Perfect!

Love these, love these, love these - Best and cutest little flat ever. This leather version is more comfortable at first than the sport version, which has nylon webbing instead of leather at the heel, where it tends to rub on my heels. I never thought I would like a flat on my larger feet but they actually make my feet look smaller. And they are really comfortable. The velcro strap makes it quick and easy to put these on and take them off, and there is actually some support in these. Got 3 colors!!

Great little shoe! Took a chance on this one and LOVED it!!!

Fit Like A Glove - I felt the comfort of the shoe immediately. I have a narrow heel so the strap is a plus for me because the shoe stays secure. I have a high instep so I don't necessarily need the support in the arch, but in the heel and this great looking shoe fits the bill. I purchased it in red and have received many compliments. Thanks Zappos you did it again.

A looker and comfortable too. I just love my Escapades. They are great with skirts, jeans, dress up, dress down. Good support and comfortable too.

I really wanted to keep this shoe but I need an insert to give a little more support for my very high arch and the straps across the toe were a little tight. Adding the insert made the straps uncomfortably tight. An average arch would be fine in this shoe. Very cute. Would transition well from work to play.

Very disappointed. Unfortunately as cute as these are, I am so sad that they just didn't fit across the ball of my foot. If I thought a break-in period would do it, I'd keep them...but these were so tight and hurt my foot so much, I had to return them...I'll keep trying to find that perfect shoe.

These shoes were comfortable from the beginning. Based on other reviews, I ordered my true size only to find that they were way too big. I returned them for .5 size smaller and they are perfect, although maybe a tad to wide. The only thing that I don't like is the notch on the velcro on the strap--it should be much larger to allow for a looser fit across the top.

J-41's escapade - Very comfortable. Supports the foot as well as others I've had that were more expensive. Might buy another pair in a solid color.

HALF SIZE TOO BIG!!! I am ALWAYS a 7. I own the J-41 St. Martins in a size 7 as usual (and love them BTW so I just ordered the Barbados because they are so cute and so comfortable. Same soles different strap pattern) Anyway, I loved the Escapade, the idea of a comfortable dressy flat that is kind of like a Keen but not so chunky really appealed to me. The shoes were adorable, leather on the inside soft flexy soles, well made, BUT they were definitely a half size too big so they are going back. My big toe was RIGHT at the first little empty spot, between the tip of the shoe and first strap. I hope that makes sense. Anyway, this caused my toenail to get caught under the top piece's edge. If they fit right my toenail would be under the tip of the shoe and it looked like I wouldn't have been having that problem. They are a little pointier than what I expected but that makes them dressier in my opinion. Really cute, just order down a half size. Don't worry about width, they are NOT TOO wide but they are wide enough. Hope this helps!

I wanted to like this shoe more than I do... For sure they are cute as heck and will go with tons of different outfits. I was hoping they would be as comfy as Keens because I felt that this design took the Keen idea to a dressier level, but alas, they are a teensy bit tight across the ball of my foot and the strap over the bunion as well as the one over my pinky toes are going to cause blisters the first few times I wear them, but I'm going to keep them. Why? I love the design, I think I can walk through airports in them fairly comfortably (with bunions and pinkies covered with bandaids or moleskin) and for reasonable comfy shoes, they are amazing. They are not sexy in the way that stiletto heels are, but they are sexy in a way that says, "I'll still be able to walk with you when we're old, honey!" The view from the corners of the heel are the best and none of the views do that justice. I also want to reward this company for such an innovative design; for attempting to fill the gap between comfort and sexiness. So even though they're not perfect, I think they're worth the money. How could they be improved? A bit more roundedness at the toe and more room at the widest part of the front of the foot, but overall, A+. P.S. I ordered my true size and feel they are the right size.

Cute and stylish. Good foot support BUT watch out for the stitching on the toe area straps. I got the brown ones and one shoe had the toe area straps stitched closer together than the other shoe, which made that shoe tight and narrow. Since they were a gift I took them to a shoe maker to have toe strap seams ripped and resewn into the correct position. Now they fit better. But the leather is quite rough if your feet are not used to wearing a lot of hard leather shoes. I agree with the people who found them to have a longer break in period than expected. I got size 10 but they are about a half size too big. Look like huge "boats" in the box but don’t make your foot look like big clodhoppers. Price should be much less though, quality is excellent like a European made shoe. A bit stiff. Love them though. Used shoe stretchers on them and that helped...No extra width for swollen feet on hot days.

Good looking, comfortable sandal. My favorite sandal, very comfortable, reasonably good arch support, very nice looking.

This shoe is fabulous! It looks great, feels great. It is a terrific shoe for walking and is very attractive unlike many other shoes that are equally comfortable. J-41's are great shoes. Zappos Rocks.

What A great Shoe!!!! I saw these shoes on a friend of my daughters...went home and looked them up on Zappos and ordered them right away ... My daughter’s friend said they were the most comfortable shoes she owned ... and I agree ... they are the most comfortable shoes I own ... including flip flops!!!!! bought them especially for a week long trip to Vegas ... wore them every day and we even walked 6 miles the first day!!!! I LOVE THESE SHOES!

Darlingest shoe! I got the black ones and they are different and very cute with both skirts and slacks for dress up or dress down times.

Amazing Shoe! Have worn this sandal (metallic) almost every day for last month as other shoes languish in the closet. Much walking on cobble stones and steps in city travel. Usually have pain in heels and hip after a few day of city walking and have to resort to athletic shoes. Nice to wear into evening for casual dining. Some days have been quite warm but feet keep cool. I consider the arch support quite good and tread excellent on all surfaces. Also has survived rain and sandy playgrounds and metallic is holding up well.

Cute, comfy shoe - I was looking for a flat that would stay on my feet and be comfy, and this works well. They're cute with jeans and shorts, but work well with skirts too. Though there's minimal arch support, these were ready to wear and I didn't even think about my feet with them on. Maybe a little wide but no problem staying on. The length was perfect.

J-41's Escapade - I love the fact that these shoes have a "dressy look" with the all the comfort of a casual shoe! I get compliments all the time - and everyone asks me where I got them.

I LOVE these shoes! This is my second pair of J-41's. The Escapade has been comfortable from day one - they fit true to size and look nice enough to wear in the office. I highly recommend these shoes.

Best Walking Shoe Ever!! I took these shoes on vacation, because they look nicer than the typical hiking sandal with shorts and all. I wore them most of the time and got tons of compliments! Not to mention that my feet never hurt.
