Suggested by orthopedic professional - The Classic 574 is the pair of shoes that I made my orthotic inserts with. It has great arch support and a removable insole. If you feel around the heel, you'll notice a hard heel cup for stabilization. And if you press into the arch side of the shoe, you'll find the supportive heel cup extends to the arch and provide a much better arch support than many other shoes. This is a great pair of shoes to walk in.

I purchased these shoes to walk around in New York for three days. I needed something that was comfortable and warm. These accomplished both. I didn't even get a blister from wearing for the first time on this trip!

Once upon a time, in an athletic supply store in a languishing mall, I bought a pair of New Balance 574. It wasn't love at first sight, no. I just needed new sneakers, and they fit, and they were on sale, so I bought 'em. Little did I know then that I had found my true sneaker love. When that pair wore out, I got another pair. Then another. I had "my" sneakers. I was happy. Then, a few years back, New Balance discontinued the 574. Shock, horror! I found one last pair of NB574 at a secondhand store. What was I going to do when they wore out? I tried finding a new sneaker love. Saucony Jazz, maybe? No, they were like ashes on my feet. Maybe some Merrell thing? No, all flappy inside. This search for a new sneaker love was discouraging and expensive for everyone, including good old Zappos what with their free-both-ways shipping. Then, hallelujah, I discover that New Balance has reissued the 574. Rejoice! Buy! Wear! I want them in all the colors.

NOT true to size - I cannot feel my feet into these shoes! I normally wear a size 8. I bought an 81/2 wide and my toes are in the top. These do not feel like a wide width shoe at all. Now I am stuck with a pair of shoes I cannot even wear!

I love New Balance, but in my opinion these are a bit narrow. I have had plenty of pairs of New Balance, and these fit me differently. I tried loosening the laces, but they're not long enough. Darn!

I love these! They look good, they feel good. I had a pair of these in another color that I wore for seven years before I got them wet and could get the stink out of them. I was thrilled to find the same exact shoes in a more fun color. I love the shoelaces, and I look forward to (bare minimum) another seven years of these great shoes. They are well worth the money!

Classic fit, wider in the toe box, lots of support. Can't say much for the color but I was in a hurry and needed something quick and what better way than to order from Zappos! Would definitely order these again.

This shoes were comfortable from the moment I put them on. I went to 15 stores here locally looking for shoes and alway found them to be to narrow for my feet. These have a wide toe base and lots of support. I was able to wear them all day with no discomfort. They truly are a classic. I wear a 5 1/2 and ordered the same size. They fit perfect.

574 is my favourite line of New Balance. Aesthetically pleasing, super comfortable without a trace of bulkiness. Wonderful for pounding the pavement in any city. Fits perfectly to size. Enjoy!

Good overall but they feel slightly larger than marked. I would recommend ordering a half size smaller than you're used to wearing. Otherwise you'll find that your socks get eaten.

Great shoes! I like this color combo. I stand for long periods of time at work and I can go a long time in these shoes even without my comfy inserts that I have to wear for my other shoes.

These shoes are so cute. I bought them to just work out but they are really cute so I wear them around a lot too. I will probably get a second pair now.

Great shoes! Wear them everywhere and love them! Only drawback is that they are very wide, even in the narrowest size. So if you have narrow feet like me, be prepared for some width issues.

This is a really cute shoe. They are lightweight and very comfortable and true to size. I bought them to wear on a cruise and they were perfect for a lot of walking when I went on tours. Love Zappos for their excellent service!

I love these shoes! They run true to size so do not order up or down just got with the normal size and you will be happy. I have received numerous compliments on my retro shoes and they make for nice walking shoes when you want to look nicer than just in sneakers but do not want to wear dress shoes. They are not super cushy but I always wear insoles anyway. I definitely recommend these shoes.

New Balance is my brand of choice because of the wideness of my feet. This 574 is so comfortable and durable that I ordered a 2nd pair in a few days after the 1st pair arrived, just in case this particular shoe was discontinued. I highly recommend it to women who are active (Zumba, hiking, etc.) or just to go shopping.

My wife absolutely loved her New Balance Classics. They were a Christmas gift and, with the confidence instilled by Zappos VIP, I had no concern about them getting to us by the holidays. They were here the next day, sized perfectly, and in great condition!

Great shoes - perfect for running around on a Saturday, but nicer than regular running shoes. I get compliments every time I wear them!

I love these sneakers and am on my 3rd pair! The gray color is classic and goes with all sorts of casual clothes. These shoes have held up nicely over the years and the gray color is great for hiding dirt. They are comfortable for walking and general around the town uses.

I had a pair of these (plain gray) that I wore for almost 7 years! Needless to say, they were pretty much falling apart by the time I was done with them, and I couldn't imagine moving on to a different pair of shoes. I knew I wanted the same pair of shoes, but I decided to branch out and get a new color scheme this time. This pair are just as great as my old beat-up pair, and the blue is my favorite color!

Ahhhhh...After several tries with Nike (too narrow) and Reebok (no support), I finally remembered that several years ago I had a pair of New Balance that I loved. Bulls eye! Just as I remembered. Having a wider foot and high instep, it is hard to find comfortable-fitting shoes, but these fit perfectly and true to size with cushiony insole and good arch support. And with Zappos' no shipping and return fees and upgraded priority fast shipping, there is no reason to leave home to go to the crowded mall and wait in long lines for sales people who don't know anything anyway. I will be looking here before I go anywhere else. Thank you Zappos for being patient with me while I found just the right shoe.
