I am extremely happy with my purchase of this classic Red Wing boot. I was hesitant at first to spend the extra money, but it was well worth it. Just like a great suit, you need to consider it as an investment because these Red Wings will last you 10+ years. I took the advice from other reviews and ordered one full size smaller. Yes, they are stiff right out of the box. No worries though, I applied leather lotion and they were good to go after about a week. Break them in just like a new baseball glove and they will have a perfect fit. I live in West Virginia and we deal with some miserable weather for a good part of the year; I needed a “go to" boot and these Red Wings do the job and then some.

These are awesome! Make sure you buy 1/2-1 size smaller than your regular size. They will take some time to break in. I wear these as an everyday shoe, some projects around the house and love them. The soles will need to be replaced once every 1-2 years depending on how much you use them. The leather is outstanding and made in the Red Wing, MN USA!

LOVE these boots. This is my second pair. The first ones were great, but got left at the beach and swept away...RIP. I have another pair of Redwings and went a full size down the first time and took 6 months to get comfortable. This time I went half a size down and have moderate break in, and room for boot socks. WIN.

Very well made boots! I have been wearing them for about a week now. Definitely the worst break in period I've ever dealt with but they are loosening up and I think will become the most comfortable boots I've owned.

As recommended, I sized down one size. Big mistake. I am a 10.5 and ordered a 9.5. Way to small. Blisters galore even after a month of wear. Otherwise, this is a great shoe.

No doubt these are extremely high quality boots. Great leather and stitching. Takes awhile to break in but that's how most long lasting items are. Not exactly as comfortable as others make them out to be but to each his own. Definitely worth the money. These were my first pair of Moc toes so the weight of the boot was something new to me but you definitely get use to it after awhile. Sizing down varies also. I ended up sizing down 1.5 so don't fret if it takes you awhile to find the perfect fit because it took me 3 tries. If you are lucky to have a local Red Wing shop check them out so they can properly get you fitted. These are also definitely waterproof but the one negative thing about these boots is the tread of the soles wear down pretty quickly. I ended up getting a vibram sole when they needed resoled and it definitely made a huge difference in regards to grip but like I stated earlier to each his own. Red Wing also does a great job of showing unions love. Also try to oil/condition your boots once a month and they will last for years. If you're on the fence, go ahead and order a pair and see if you like them or not. Zappos has the best customer service and return policies so you can't go wrong going through Zappos for your online purchases. Just don't get discouraged at how uncomfortable they are at first. Hope this helps!

My first pair of Red Wing Irish Setters were purchased from a Red Wing store in 1985. Three times they have been resoled and repaired by Red Wing. Not bad for 30 plus years of hunting, hiking, construction and landscape work. Over the years they have become like ballet slippers. So conditioned to my feet I can, and often do, dance in them. Alas the leather is finally cracking apart and I fear they are almost played out. Did not think I could get another resoling out of them so purchased a new pair. Still great boots but as mentioned in many reviews, the sizing has apparently changed. The new pair, which has the exact same sizing as my old, fits a half size larger. This for a work / hunting boot is very important. All said I would still invest in another pair of these boots. With proper care they will become like an old friend you can always count on.

Great boots -- definitely the most solidly-constructed I've ever had. The hardest part was determining what size to get. I typically wear size 11, occasionally 11 1/2, and rarely 10 1/2. The 11s in these boot felt perfect without any breaking in, and if I knew the leather wasn't going to stretch, I would have gone with that. But after reading all the reviews, I also tried 10 1/2 and 10s. The 10 1/2 felt almost too tight, though my toes weren't touching the front of the boot. The 10s felt way too tight, with my toes feeling crammed all the way up into the toe bed. So I went with the 10 1/2s, hoping that the break-in period would result in enough stretching to make them comfortable. I spent the first couple days walking around the house in them, feeling like I made a mistake. They were very stiff and uncomfortable and felt way too small -- smaller than they'd felt in the store. Then, on day 3, suddenly they got comfortable, and they've felt great ever since. So I definitely echo all the other comments here regarding sizing down at least 1/2 size from your usual size. They also look great. I tried and returned some Danner boots before getting these -- the quality of those wasn't anywhere near the Red Wings. I also bought some Red Wing boot paste (pine pitch, mink oil, and beeswax), and I really like how it darkens the leather.

Buying a boots online need alot of background studies. I do recommend that buyer to visit stores to try your size before you purchase. Pls take note, 1) the overall size of boots are bigger, compare to normal shoe. 2) you have to go 1/2 - 1 size down to get the perfect fit for your boots. When you have a smaller size, you can still replace or remove the sole to have more room space within the boots 3) go have some reading on heel slip.

Great boot! Worth the extra spend. As other reviewers have said, size down. I wear an 10.5/11. Got a 10 and they're perfect. I've had them for a couple weeks and have worn them 7-8 times. I get compliments every time.

Great boot. My second pair of red wings but first pair that fits properly. I wish other models came in EE sizes! Red Wing (and other Brands) should step it up in respects to size options! I can't imagine everyone being a "D" width if they are truly looking for a great fitting boot/shoe. I would order these 1/2 size down from "normal" boot size. At this much per pair, these boots cost about per year! Great value!

Returned the boot as it just wasn't wide enough. I have very wide feet so I knew it was a gamble going in, although a minor one with Zappos :) The leather is really, really nice. It has this velvety texture to it that accepts daily wear with ease. Don't like a mark on the leather from accidentally bumping a chair? No problem, rub it with your fingers and it disappears. Quality appears to be top notch, just wasn't the right size for me.

These are amazing boots! I get compliments on them all the time. Please beware that they take a little time to break in. The comfort factor may disappoint you at first. Suck it up and wear them for a week to break them in and you will be very happy.

I feel in love with these boots the second I opened the box. I was tired of messing around with boots that looked good but were not built to last. These Red Wings accomplish both. As soon as I tried them on, I wanted to wear them forever. I read the reviews in regards to sizing, and went ahead and took a chance and bought them in my normal size, 9D. They fit pretty snug, but I can fit them on whether I am wearing cotton or wool socks. So far, I have found the boots to be so warm and resistant to the elements that I have been fine in cotton socks. I have worn them in the Montana snows and on New York sidewalks and could not be happier. The sole is very cozy, while the tread has a good grip on the ice. I had to give them a ding on the comfort because they are taking a little longer to break in than I would like. There is definitely some pinching on the backs of my feet that makes it difficult to wear them for a long time. But after breaking them in for a few more weeks, I think these should be fine. Overall these are exceptionally well made boots. I look forward to wearing them for years to come!

I've been wearing 6" Moc Toe boots to work for over a decade now. I've tried many different brands but these are hands down the absolute best. They're expensive, but you get what you pay for when it comes to boots. I wear these for at least 10 hours a day, nearly every day. My last pair of Red Wings were the Chukka boots and they lasted 1.5 years. Red Wings feel pretty tight when you first get them but they do loosen up quite a bit as you break them in. I would recommend going to a Red Wing store to have your boots correctly sized if you've never worn this brand before. Break in period can be brutal, but once they mold to your feet, they are extremely comfortable. I typically bring my old boots to work during break in and change if my feet hurt too much. These boots are part of the Heritage line. I own 3 other styles in this series, Beckmans, Iron Rangers, and Engineer. I wear those after work and they are all extremely solid and comfortable as well. Those will probably last a decade or more. The thing that separates these boots from a lot of the other brands is that they don't have the cheap foam padding inside and they aren't just glued together. They are just made out of heavy leather and are stitched solidly together. The solid leather holds up much better than foam and nylon interiors, which tend to rip and crumble fairly quick. The all leather construction means that these boots will still feel comfortable until you burn through the soles, and then you can have them re-soled if you wish. Even the footbed is leather, which molds to your foot. Personally, I find them extremely comfortable without any insoles. If you have to wear boots to work, you owe it to your feet to wear good boots and these will definitely fit the bill.

Love this boot! Seriously solid construction. Only had it for a month, but it gets better and better every day. It's a slow process to break these in, but I can easily spend all day in them. Looks great, feels great, smells great. :) Lifelong Red Wing fan now. Definitely runs a half size large, so order smaller. Can't wait to start treating these and getting the leather broken in more. I get comments every day on them.

I am usually an 8½ in most boots and shoes. Based off a lot of reviews to size down on these I ordered an 8 and an 8½ to compare. My foot was crushed in the 8. The 8½ fit but had a tiny tiny heel lift. These come with an insert but it is completely flat. I went to a Red Wings store and they have several types of inserts to fine tune the fit. I ended up with an insert with a little more cushioning in the heel area but thin towards the toes and now they are perfect. They also have inserts with more cushioning towards toe area but that was too tight for me. I know it's added cost and the inserts are not cheap but do yourself a favor and fine tune these bad boys. Other than that they're great quality boots and the rough copper color looks awesome.

After reading the reviews it sounded like these run big so I ordered my usual size 8½ and an 8. I Could barely get my foot into the 8 and my toes were crushed. 8½ fit perfectly. So for me they were true to size. Other than that they are Red Wings so an awesome boot and the burnished copper leather is very cool looking. I also wear size 8 in Dr. Marten, size 9 in Nike, size 7½ in Chuck Taylors, but back before sizes were all over the board I was a consistent 8½. Vans, most other sneaker brands, Tinberland I am an 8½ along with most dress shoes.

These become exponentially more comfortable the more you wear them. Mink oil will make them darker but will also soften the leather. I recommend leaving the last eyelet undone until the ankle softens up. You can use an aftermarket footbed but make sure you try these on WITH your intended footbed. If you don't use one (like myself), the leather insole will conform to your foot nicely. I suggest not to baby these boots. They are extremely durable work boots, not some silly "Timba-lands" just made for looks.

Great boots, but I think I have the wrong size. I got them in copper rough and tough, and they look like the boots Ryan Gosling wears! The only problem is, I was hoping they'd stretch after a few months, but they haven't. Now I'm stuck with a tight pair of boots. :( To avoid my mistake, I would suggest getting your expected size and its two nearest sizes, and wearing the three pairs indoors a lot to see which fits best. I actually did this, but I think I made the wrong choice in keeping the smaller pair. While my pair did get more flexible with wear, the toe-box hasn't loosened up much.

These shoes are worth every penny! After reading other reviews I ordered a half size smaller than what I normally wear. They were pretty snug and I was kind of nervous but kept wearing them. After 3-4 days they just fit like a glove! I couldn't be happier with these boots. They are great for going from field to shop which is what I needed. As always, Zappos is great to work with!

I've worked in construction and enjoyed the outdoors all my life, and hands down Red Wing boots are the very best money can buy. I was nervous about buying boots online, without trying them on 1st, but my boots fit perfect. It takes a little while to break these boots in from the factory because of the great quality of materials and workmanship. I'm extremely happy with my purchase, and with the service I received from Zappos.

If you love Red Wing Shoes and love the Heritage boots, and if you have the determination and willpower to withstand two weeks worth of pain before the leather fully breaks in, then please have no doubt when you see the recommendations to order ONE size smaller on this pair of boots! I am sincerely giving my full recommendation. I absolutely love these boots for their looks, quality, comfort, and the fact that these were made in the US of A! I bought a pair first, and got my two brothers to each buy one for themselves, because these boots are just too darn stylish. Man up, get the right size, and look fly.
