These are very comfortable boots once broken in! I have athletic calves, so I was concerned about whether my legs would fit inside. I trusted the reviews, however, and once the boots arrived, I can confirm that this they are definitely wide calf boots. There is enough room for approximately two chocolate bars next to each calf after I have put the boots on. I have gotten lots of compliments about these boots, too.

I originally got the Melissa Button boots bc rumor was the Paige riding boots made calves look bigger. After trying the buttons for a while I was just bored with them and decided to return them for the Paige. These are so much better and do not make my calves look big at all. They are taller, more comfortable and I simply love them. They were a little tough to get on and off at first but after a few tuggings the leather stretched some to make them the perfect fit. I just adore these boots!

I'm loving my first pair of Frye boots! What took me so long?! The boots are very comfortable and super stylish -- I find myself wearing them several days a week-- these are a must have.

Love these boots. Just vacationed with FindRentals.com and they were comfy on the plane and wonderful to wear after hours of airport walking. Got to Florida and my feet felt wonderful. 5 Star boots.

Really good quality boot. Calf isn't as wide as some have reported, and ankle is kind of bunchy, but it's a good fit overall. I've gotten multiple compliments.

I love these boots. I figured I could either buy a pair of $75 boots every year, or spend the money on these that will last forever. They are so well made; the leather is beautiful. At first try-on I thought they were a bit too motorcycle boot-ish but they have loosened up to a softer shape with only 2 or 3 wears. Highly recommend.

I'll have to say that I was really excited when I ordered this shoe, but ultimately disappointed when they arrived. Based on soles and overall condition, it was obvious that these were already worn by someone else who decided they did not want them. The soles were worn and the leather had scuff marks from wear and tear. Great quality, but did not feel they were worth the price. I'm definitely returning these.

I got these for my sister for Xmas, and she loves them! It's the perfect color for those who are stuck between black and brown and these are right in between! She absolutely loves them! Fit her true to size, and calf area was also perfect even for stuffing jeans...it's a probably she tends to have with tall boots.

I love these boots. However, you definitely need to order a 1/2 size down. I always wear an 8 and when I got the 8 they were to big. I returned and got the 7 1/2. The 7 1/2 fit perfectly... and with zapppo's free shipping and returns, it was so easy. Deff recommend these boots to all. Worth the $ and will last forever.

Love it!!!! This is the first time I buy REAL Boots and I love it. I have size 39 European and I chose size 9 like the chart and it fits perfectly. Actually, there is still a room for my toes! I was worried at first if it's not going to fit but this size is perfect for me. I am 5'3" and the back part is a little high but it takes time to get used to because this is the first time I have riding boots. It's well-made and the color is so rich. Zappos delivers my boots so quickly. I am a happy customer!! Thank you Frye and Zappos!

These boots are really tall - almost over the knee on me, and I'm 5'6". They are also a bit wide through the calf, which I like because I can wear them even with heavy pants in colder weather. Overall, a very practical boot.

I love these boots! I am 5'7 - size 9 foot and they come right up to my knee - they were tough to put on the 1st time (used the plastic bag trick I saw from another reviewer) and they fit great! True to size! Great rich brown color - quality leather! I have muscular calves and yet there is still enough room to tuck in a legging or straight jean. I am a Frye freak! I own about 5 pairs and they never disappoint! These will likely outlive me and only get better with age (like me)! Thanks Zappos for getting these to Maine overnight - for free.

I've been searching for years for a perfect boot. I had larger calves and every pair I've ever tried on have been too tight at the top and bunched weird. Not these, these slip on and are amazing. They go with everything and have enough room still for me to tuck in my jeans. They are really worth the price- you can feel the difference between these and every other boot on the market. I have no trouble believing that these will last years and years.

I just received these today, and I love the look. I have athletic calves (16.5 inches), and I was actually able to get the boot up around my calves...it's pretty snug; I probably won't be able to get jeans tucked in. The ankle area scrunches a little more than expected. I have thin ankles and large calves, so these boots don't look that great on me. But I love the style of this boot.

These are great! I had to scour Manhattan to find them. They look so chic and fun. My friends love them. The dark brown is so dark that it almost passes as black.

Overall, this is a great boot. Great quality leather, and look great on. Few things I wish I'd known: they are brutal to get off. Make sure you either have a strong significant other, or a boot pull handy. I'm hoping that it becomes easier as I continue to break the boot in, but so far, it takes some crazy effort to just get them off my feet! I'm 5' 5", and they come almost above my knees, so just know they are tall. The soles are a little slippery on smooth surfaces. I was surprised to slip and slide my way across my apartment when I had them on - so just beware. Besides all that, they are really nice looking & feeling boots. Pricey, but great!

These are very high quality and attractive riding boots. Maybe they are a little wide at the top, but the overall look is very cool and classy. They are comfortable too. I ordered the Melissa Back Zip which looks phenom but I could not zip them up! I ordered the Jane Stitch which was huge. I am keeping these. I might order sexier boots at some later point but these will work well for every day.

The boots fit well and they are very nice. They are hard to get off, but they look nice and hit just below the knee.

I am a huge fan of Frye boots and own several pairs. Over the years, I find that they fit my calves quite tightly so I usually go up a half a size and everything is a fine, basically, nothing too big a problem that a thick sock can't fix. However, I could not do this with the Paige. The foot was too narrow and I looked like a clown and I could barely get the boot over my right calf, which is the bigger of my two. I so wanted these boots and had bought them a few years back and returned them for the same reason. I guess I thought the sizing would have changed over the years. Needless to say I was disappointed and will try the extended calf in another fit. My advice is to keep them if they fit you perfectly. They are gorgeous boots.

I have ordered these boots twice, in two different colors, saddle and black. While they are beautiful, they don't fit my calf well and look sloppy. The area around the ankle is almost as wide as the area around the calf. And since I have smaller calfs they slouch. I wish that wasn't the case since they are very pretty. The saddle color is kind of light and orangish. I love my veronica slouch and think I will stick with those.

This is really a great boot if you run a thick calf and a skinny ankle. I, too, have big calves and typically have a problem with the circumference on the boot, but these are perfect, I loved them so much I ordered the brown AND the black! I am a size 8.5 and I ordered the 9, it was perfect; the 9.5 I had tried on and I was swimming in it. They are very comfortable straight out of the box as someone mentioned, I can also see that they will need to be re-soled quickly as I've only worn them around the house so far and already you can see the wear on the outside of the heel. I gave them 4 stars overall because initially on receiving the brown color, as most Frye boots do, they have a very waxy finish to them that is difficult to remove. I understand why they have to do this to preserve the leather (it’s amazing quality, the borne is gorgeous once you get the wax of) but it comes with a very thick white film that is proving very difficult to remove. I polished them for hours yesterday and then looked at them again today and the wax has risen to the surface again, so it looks like it’s going to take some wear and polishing and time to remove that wax. Highly recommend these stylish boots for the skinny ankle/muscle calf girls out there!

With time they are easier to get on...pretty comfy. They are more distressed in person than in the picture. Lots of compliments. They're a keeper!
