I was so excited to get these, but as soon as I tried them on, I was so disappointed. It was huge at my ankle and tight on my calf.

So, I have big calves (16.5) and regular rain boots fit nice until it gets to my calves. I decided to try the Huntress collection from Hunter. I received them today and they did fit around my calves (and with Jeans it was tight), but since they are a much wider boot than the original, they were huge below my calves. It looked really weird. From my ankle to the bottom of my calf my leg is normal, so all that extra space from the boot looked weird. I usually wear a size 8 so I ordered the 39 (8 in US Ladies); it was too big as far as feet size goes. I'm exchanging them for the Original Short, I have read the reviews and hope that since it is shorter it will fit great. I will leave a review for the Original Short as soon as I get them. Hope this helps, to anyone who is in the same position as me.

Way too large around ankles... I bought these when the Hunter Originals were too tight around my calf, and since I read that these were cut wider and shorter I thought they might work. But they were WAY too big around the ankles and looked strange! It seems there is no in between so I will not be able to purchase any Hunter boots that properly fit my legs.

Rain Boots in the City - I love the rain boots. Great for walking around the city especially when it rains a lot. I tested them out and the shoe is a lil big on my feet. I had to buy the Hunter's socks and inserts to have it fit the right size. The shoe is still big when I take off the sock and leave the inserts. But still great rainboots. I am so cautious about the sole because it can be run down fast since its rubber! No fleece inside to keep warm so if you are going to wear it in the winter, I would suggest you to buy Hunter's fleece socks. Overall that’s why I gave it 3 stars.

These boots did not work for me. I had the original tall Hunters, and they were tight on my calves, so I ordered these hoping they would fit more comfortably. They are slightly wider on my calf but much shorter than the original tall and hit at a weird spot on my leg. I sent them back.

I have to admit, while I'm kind of psyched to have Hunter boots that actually fit over my jeans, I would never pay this much for these boots if there weren't such strong brand name recognition. The navy blue boots have this white film all over them right out of the box. I think there's a way to get rid of it but it's a pain for me to have to clean them when they've never been worn. Can't the factory do that? Secondly, there is absolutely no arch support or other kind of foot support that would normally be part of any shoe or boot design. They're just this amorphous structure that happens to fit around the foot and block precipitation. Last, the ankle area of this boot is unnecessarily wide; making the leg look like it has no shape whatsoever. Even if the pants legs bunch up at the bottom, there is absolutely no reason for the boots to be designed with this much room in the ankle. When it comes to design, comfort, and value, I'm much happier with another brand of rain boots...the only reason I'm keeping my Hunters is the name on the boot.

Really wanted to love these, but it way too big at the ankles and then not big enough at the calves! There is no way that I could tuck any kind of pants into these boots. I am returning and getting the Hunter original short, hopefully I'll have better luck with those. This I will say though, they are super comfortable to walk in!

I'm very sad to have to say this, but so far I am very disappointed with the Huntress boots. The fit is good, although a bit unflatteringly baggy around the ankles. (Bad enough I have giant calves that require buying wide-calf boots, do you have to make my ankles look huge, too?) That said, they still manage to look pretty stylish. My main complaint is with their quality control. I'm now on my third pair. Two pairs had some sort of air pocket where the heel attached to the boot, so as soon as they got wet, every step caused the boots to make a wet, squilching noise like a wet fart. Obviously this can only be heard on hard surfaces and not carpet, but unfortunately I have hardwood floors. The other pair didn't have the air pocket problem -- it leaked instead. After an unpleasant experience with some cheapie rainboots, I always wear my new boots in the bathtub, walking up and down for a few minutes. I did the same with these, and pretty soon I had a tiny, slow trickle of cold water in my boots. I want to love (and keep) these boots, but why must you keep disappointing me, Hunter? The only bright side of all this is that Zappos customer service has been wonderful -- and their shipping almost spooky fast. (I ordered my first pair at 10pm EST, and they were in my hands by 11am the next day. Wow!)

Shipping was super fast. Unfortunately product is unsatisfactory. Coated with a white residue when arrived. The right boot was noticeably bigger than the left. The Hunter Logo was off center on the left boot. Customer Service was again excellent, but be very cautious when getting these. I normally take a 9 and ordered the 8 which appears would be the correct size.

I usually wear an 11. I needed a 12 in these. My toes were against the end of the boot. They also seem narrow. The height was not as tall as the original Huntress, but the original is too small around the calf. I'm 6' and these hit at the biggest part of my calf, therefor not flattering at all. I guess I'm back to my men's rubber boots from tractor supply company. Boo. Wish Hunter would come out with a new boot a bit taller than huntress with the bigger leg room.

Fat calf wellies? I wish. I don't know if the ladies here are measuring their calves correctly because I have 15-15.5" calves and these do not fit me. I tried them on with the Matchstick jeans from J.Crew and the Huntress boots were way too tight. The boots might fit if I only wear tights or leggings but seeing as I'm in Boston, our winters do not accommodate for such attire. I give up trying to find rain boots that fit my calves. I guess I will have to find short ones.

These are my winter boots. They are excellent on ice and in snow. I put inserts in them and that made them really comfy. Lately I have had issues with them rubbing the back of my heel raw, but only on one foot and it's a new issue... really not sure what happened, but for a long time these were my gold-star boots! I'm going to wear heavier socks this winter and hope it resolves.

This is a beautifully made boot, comfortable and stylish. However, I am returning it because the ankle is far too big. I need the extra width in the calf, but it looks funny on my skinny ankle.

I love the Huntress style so much more than the traditional (higher on the calf) Hunter boot. The Huntress gives more room on the calf and look the same! I am so glad that I ordered them!

I love these boots. I tried the taller Hunters but they were too tight on my leg. These are a little shorter and not too much bigger around so they still look right.

Always wanted a pair of Hunter Boots, BUT with so many different styles and fits to choose from it was overwhelming! I took days to read all the reviews and after four phone calls with very patient and informative Zappos Reps...I decided to order a size 7 & 8 in the Huntress. I usually wear a size 8-8.5 constantly. That being said, most reviews stated to go down at least a full size, but I found the size 8 to be PERFECT!! They are comfortable, stylish and exactly what I had hoped for! Don't Hesitate in ordering this wardrobe staple.

Tired of wasting money on cheap boots because you get what you pay for. A bit pricey, but worth it. These boots will last you a long time. Well made to protect you from the elements. And, they're stylish. Love them! Thanks zappos for offering the huntress style for wider calves!

I wasn't sure how my leg was going to fit this boot; so I ordered the classic and the huntress; for a 5'3 girl with relatively smaller legs; I just didn't know if these things were made for tall slender models or real life people; ultimately; I was able to get away with the classic. This boot left way too much room in the calf for me. When I walked it almost looked sloppy as the rubber bent and moved around with each stride. Zappos is fabulous about returns, so if you're on the fence- order both. My calf size is about 14.5' -15' depending on which part youre measuring. If you have a wider calf; this boot is definitely accommodating; Athletic legs; get the classic... it still has space enough for you!

These boots were exactly what I was looking for. I bought them as a gift for my mom and she loves them! The Huntress is the PERFECT boot for someone that feels the Hunter Original is a tad too tight on their calf, but that the wide calf would be a little too big. The Huntress gives just enough extra room to make them comfortable without having to buy the wide calf. I definitely recommend them!

These boots are exactly what I needed. Though I would rather spend the cash on something more exciting than rain-boots, these are making my life a better place so they're worth the money! I'm 5'3, 125 lbs, size 8.5 feet (on the slightly wider side) and 15 calves. I'd pretty much given up on finding rain-boots that fit my legs. I was just about to abandon hope and go the ankle-boot route but--since I live in Seattle and prefer not to have wet feet all the time--I gave it one more shot with these. SO glad I did! I went with a size 9 (only a half-size up from my usual) and they're perfect: room for thick socks but fine with thin ones, too. Wide enough all the way up that I don't have to wrestle my way into them--just step in and go, praise be! The rubber is nice and the matte black is a soft mid-black with no shine. I was surprised by how comfortable the soles are--I wasn't expecting good arch support but I can wear these all day without achy arches. The only thing I don't love about these boots is the big ol' 'Hunter' logo on the front. I feel a little conspicuously 'Pacific Northwest suburban-mom' with the logo front & center. But, then again, I actually am all of those things...so it looks like I just need to get over it! In summary, if you have wider calves and are looking for knee-high rain-boot salvation, give these a try. Happy, warm and dry feet may be in your future!

These rain boots are quite comfortable and fit well on my 16" calves. I see what other reviewer are saying about the ankle area being a little bulky, but they're still nice looking and very practical for the weather and a muddy property. The only thing I don't care for much is the buckle because it's uncomfortable when I cross my legs. Mostly top notch, awesome boots!

The Huntress is actually 2.5 inches shorter than both of the other styles - Original & Original back adjust. The back adjust gives much more room in the calf!

I received a pair of original Hunters as a gift, and had to return them because they were too tight on my calf. For reference, I wear a size 6 in both shoes and jeans, and the originals were not even close to fitting. I was so bummed, but then I found the Huntress option. They are perfect! From the front, they are slimming, and they fit my calf perfectly with pants. The footbed is really comfortable, and they do not get hot, as cheaper rain boots can. Hunters are at the high end of what I would typically spend on shoes, but they are well worth it!

I ordered half a size up, they fit well. Exact size probably would have been OK too. The Huntress is perfect for shorties (or those with shorter legs) they sit about 2" under my knee. There is a little room in the ankle area but that is normal for rain boots. They are cute and practical - you cannot beat that!
