I love the way these boots look and they are a good boot. The issue with these boots if you were to try wearing them for all occasions indoor and out is that the sole of this boot is very week and is likely to start to separate just in front of the heel. You might not see damage but you will likely feel the water as it goes through the sole of the shoe. I have considered buying a pair and having a shoe smith (like a blacksmith but not for shoes) add a stronger sole but the cost isn't worth it. I plan to wear these when I am wearing a suit or at least a tie and I will not wear them as an all around boot because they will not withstand the wear.

This is my third pair of Hemlocks. My favorite boot. They wear into the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn and they last a very long time. I still have two older pairs for working in my studio or in the yard. The only drawback is that the outside material that covers the heel peels off. I simply remove it and stain the heal the same dark brown color.

The boots are comfortable but felt a little loose for boots and one size smaller was too small. Added some inserts and problem solved. Still love them! Thinking of buys a second pair.

Typical Born shoes, comfortable right out of the box.

I really like these. They fit tight at first but dont stress that too much as the fit molds to your foot as you let them break in. They seem to be great quality.

BUY AT LEAST A 1/2 SIZE UP! I have no idea why people are saying these run big. I normally wear an 8.5M in boots. The 8.5 is so small I could barely get them off. I'm giving them 4 stars because they seem like a quality boot. Will write a comfort review when I receive the larger size.

Nice, comfortable boot. Break in nicely. Insole will wear away quickly with frequent use.

These shoes are very well made, good looking. I expect them to last. I wear a 9.5D. I ordered a 9.5D. The pain was excruciating! Way too small. I called customer service and told them my problem. They shipped me a pair of 10.5D shoes, I received them two days later. Excellent customer service. I have never worn a 10.5 shoe in my life! These shoes are small for the listed size.

I bought these for my husband and he absolutely loved them right out of the box. He frequently raved about how comfortable they were and how great they looked. However, I am only giving 4 stars because if these shoes get wet, they get destroyed. We got caught in a heavy downpour and the shoes were unrecognizable when they dried. They were discolored, faded, and even the shape was affected - it got very lumpy looking and they were just in terrible condition. I wouldn't have expected shoes that look this rugged and hardy to fold when faced with rain. Even my designer heels would not be worse for the wear after exposure to water. Luckily, when I contacted Zappos they immediately offered to replace them, and the process could not have been easier. Love Zappos customer service! It would be nice if these shoes were water resistant but we live in Southern California so we don't get that much rain. My husband will still be able to wear these shoes year round, just as long as it doesn't look like it's going to rain!

Nice color, comfortable, and fits to size (may feel just little narrow at first but should loosen up with wear). Downside is the sole is pretty flat and there is no real arch support.

Love these boots. Super comfortable after the initial break-in period. The leather is very soft and overall quite impressed. One issue is the heel on my left boot; the faux wood trim has peeled off at the corner. Not sure what I can do about that but it's certainly not the end of the world.

Purchased March 2009. They've been my go-to boots with jeans and khakis in the fall. Broken in feel right out of the box. The only complaint I have is the pull tab broke on the right boot after about a month. Quickly thereafter, the left one broke. I ended up cutting off both tabs entirely so it isn't an issue. Also, the leather on these is glove-supple, so pulling them on and taking them off is not a problem. On occasion I rub Filson boot oil into the leather. It darkens them initially, but over time the original color returns. I paid a little less than this 4 years ago. Would say that the price now is still worth it. If the pull straps were engineered better, would've given a better rating.

Favorite shoe. Runs a bit big, so whereas I might wear a 10 a 9 1/2 fit better. But be forewarned, the picture is not exactly what you'll get. The Hemlock model shipped to me does not have the contrast stitching; that's why I graded it down on style.

Great craftsmanship, however soles will wear out quickly

I need to return and get a smaller size. I’m always an eleven in every type shoe I wear. But these must be a twelve. It’s absolutely sized incorrectly.

I love these boots and would give them five stars if they had a more durable sole. The sole of these breaks if you wear them for everyday use. The sole breaks just in front of the heel and then the boot turns into a suction cup when it rains drawing the water inside the bottom of the shoe. If these were priced lower I would get a pair and have a quality sole installed and wear them until they fell off my feet. I am going to only wear these boots to casual formal settings and not try to wear them everyday so I don't wear them out too quickly.

The shoes are too narrow, we are sending them back.

My husband has large ankles and long skinny feet and he could BARELY get them on. If this isn't a problem for you, they're really attractive. A nice mix of outdoorsy and dressy. If they had a zipper, we'd keep them, unfortunately, they do not.

The right boot was larger than the left. I will order them again.

I returned the first pair because of a flaw inside that made one of the boots uncomfortable. The second pair, one boot was smaller in size and was not comfortable to wear for very long. I gave the boots to Goodwill.

The leather is really great and I am impressed by the look and comfort of these boots. My only complaint is that after just a few wears the faux wood trim started to pop off and peel in various spots. I am a bit disappointed.
