I’m sorry but this shoe was so narrow (I ordered wide) that I could not get my foot into it. I had to return them and I am very disappointed.

This is my second review about this shoe. My first one, dated 03/09/2008, gave very positive opinion with information about how sizing worked for me. Earlier this year, I ordered a second pair and had to return them because they were smaller and tighter than first pair...even though same size. I cannot give positive review on second pair. It seems the New Balance company should have better quality control about sizing of its shoes. Zappos and I should not have to deal with this problem. So, if I try again to order my proper size, my hope is that they will fit as the first pair did. Note: I ordered and tried a width wider but my heel slipped like mad. If Zappos wonders why I am ordering and returning this style shoe, this review explains why!

Ouch!!!
I wear a size 6 1/2W. After reading customers reviews I ordered a 7 W and these shoes really hurt across the joint of the big toe. Way too tight and not enough room in the toe box so I had to return them. Still looking for a sturdy walking shoe.

This Shoe -
I love the look of this shoe. I have not been able to wear it as much as I would like. It feels great when I first put it on, but after a couple of hours my foot is really hurting around the toe area. It is wide enough, but it feels like my foot is being pushed forward. I have some orthotics that I am going to try. I hope they help, or I won't be able to wear them, and I don't like wasting money...

Wanted to let you know that the bottoms of these shoes are slippery. Trying them on inside didn't prepare me for walking on wet pavement. Was so surprised because they look like a good outdoor walking shoe.
I'd also recommend:
ECCO and Rieker seem to be better made.

Wide width, but not in the toe area.
Ill-fitting. #1. Albeit these are wide width shoes, the width is not in the toe area. #2. I think because the laces begin near the toe area that it makes for less "ceiling" room in the shoes and therefore causes discomfort. For me, this is not a good shoe for a wide foot and I would not buy this brand or shoe again.

I have had many pairs of New Balance shoes and these are the first not to fit true to size. I wear 2E and these are a "d" at best. I suggest buying one size higher in width.
