Great fit, but poor durability. One of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn, but I sliced the bottom of the sole near the arch while taking an easy walk on some rocks, exposing a piece of plastic below (the shank?) and there was literally less than an 1/8" of rubber covering this portion of the sole so no wonder it failed so readily. I continue to wear the boot despite it no longer being water-resistant due to the aforementioned incident and have found that the tread wore down very quickly. I'm afraid I'll look elsewhere for durable chukka, but doubt I'll find anything as stylish and comfortable.

Not very durable! These boots look great, feel great, but the heels wore out in a very short time. The Material, neoprene?, just started disintegrating, and coming apart. I wore these boots only for casual wear, not work. If they corrected the material quality, I would buy another pair in a heartbeat. Looks like several others had the same problem!

Get something with a more durable sole & Heel coinstruction!

Comfortable yes, but durable? These boots are great looking and feeling, but wore out quickly. Three months into wearing them the inside heel totally wore out and came out. But I called Clarks and dealt with friendly, efficient customer service and had new boots sent to me free two days later. Kudos to Clarks! I just hope these awesome boots last.

Sorry to read so many comments about durability issues. I have found the absolute polar opposite to be true. I wore these boots casually for close to a year and they always looked good, then got a job that was pretty demanding on them for about six months and not a whimper out of them. Now with a new job for the last five months that still has them jumping through hoops, worn five days of the week, they're taking some lumps but still a pleasure to wear. I'll be picking up pair number two within a couple more months, most likely, but just for casual wear. No complaints other than they seem about a half-size large, but that allows room for woolly socks and comfort, too.

I was looking for a pair of chukkas to replace some Timberland Paloma's and was having a hard time finding a reasonably priced yet stylish pair. After an exhaustive search I finally settled on the Clarks and couldn't be happier. They fit great and are comfortable and after several months of daily wear are holding up great. A far better shoe than the Timberland Earthkeepers. I highly recommend these chukkas to anyone looking for a well made and comfortable shoe.

These are really nice. I read the reviews on Zappos prior to purchasing and I got the feeling they would fall apart as soon as I put them on! These are not rock climbing or hiking boots, they are casual footwear. I wear them to work and out and about town, no issues, but hey, I'm not doing a marathon in them or anything. I recommend them, I'm looking at getting another pair of the brown version.

Felt a half size large, I'm usually a 10 but the 9 1/2 was a better fit. Comfortable and they look great!

These boots are very comfortable and nice looking. I thought they were a little pricey, but I think they are well worth the money. If you are looking for a casual, good looking boot, I would recommend these. Zappos provides excellent service. I would definitely recommend doing business with them.

Not a good idea. I used to be very faithful to Clarks, but after seeing "made in China" printed inside the boots, as well as having the first pair I bought today (& will return tomorrow) start 'whooshing' on me in the left shoe, and hearing all of these reviews testifying how poorly the shoe 'endures,' this is a model I definitely would not recommend. Yes, the boot looks amazing, and feels amazing, at least for the first little while. Too good to be true. I am very glad I was able to come to this conclusion with the help of those before me, and the pair I've received, that I can still get my money back. I think that the people at Clarks shorted themselves this time by designing an excellent "idea" of a boot/chukka but not following through on materials & craftsmanship. Make it again, make it more durable, and less complicated, and you'll have a shoe that will constantly sell out and make your customers happy as well. Comfort isn't everything if it doesn't last or perform. However, I will say big kudos to Clarks in general for being one of the few brands out there that consider the comfort of people who need wide/aka "non-pointy" toe-boxes in their footwear.

I agree with a number of the posted reviews. Boots look great, feel great (aside from a lack of ball-of-the-foot padding) but suffer from "cheap sole syndrome." After two days of walking my boot soles showed significant scuffs and wear. After a month it was obvious that the boots were weak in the durability department. I love the look so much that I'll probably contact Clarks and see if they can send me new soles for my cobbler to replace.

I have owned these ankle boots for not much over a year now and the sole is completely worn out. The rubber they are made of is very soft and wear quickly on pavement. I wore them about 4 days a week walking about a mile or 2 a day. Also, the red lining leaks dye onto your socks. The leather is soft and soaked up any oil I tried to apply too readily, making water repellency impossible. The laces are cheap and frayed. The insole had lousy support, but I wear Superfeet anyway. They were comfortable while they lasted, but I won't be buying Clarks again.

Clarks Roar are highly recommended. I wear Clarks exclusively for work. I’m in my 40s and find them light weight, durable. You can literally wear these shoes everyday for 3 years and they do not wear out, stay comfortable, and a true fit. I take size 13 when other shoe sizes are unpredictable when ordering on-line. I bought these ankle height for winter and light snow. Keeps the snow up to 4 inches from getting inside. Every other shoe on the market is a wasted effort.

I saw these on sale at the Clarks store in my local mall. The price was too good to pass up, and now I like them so much, I am thinking of buying another pair in a different color. I must say I like the suede feel of the one I picked out.

I wear a 13 and that\'s what I ordered, feels a hair large but the fit is very comfortable. Great leather that only gets better with age. A high quality boot that goes great with jeans or khakis. Recommended!

They're nice/roomy and run 1/2 size larger. They are very comfortable. If you have a flat foot like I do, you will need to get arch insert that I have from my other shoes. I love them and I love the customer service through Zappos. They have been great to work with our whole family.

I got the brown oily color option because they were out of regular brown in my size and when I opened them I was glad for it. Relative to the style, there were no surprises with this boot, the design, as well as the shade and texture of the leather is very cool, weathered enough to look good but not overdone. The size recommendation of other reviewers is good: aim smaller than your usual size. While some other reviewers suggested a full size smaller, I went with a half size smaller and they're pretty much perfect. The fit was questionable at first. I have a high instep and when I first donned these brothel creepers I thought I would have to send them right back as they were so snug on top. So the moment of truth was whether to bail and return or to walk off the carpeted surface and hope they wear in. I opted for #2 and wore them to work wear I can put some miles on traversing the labyrinthine halls of the GPO; it was there they started to chafe my heels. I yet persevered, with thicker socks and by day three of wear they felt like slippers. The leather is very supple and contours nicely to my feet now. I can't speak as yet to premature wear of the sole; more than one reviewer claimed 3 months or so of steady wear resulted in noticeable loss of tread. I don't suspect it'll be an issue for me, but even if this is the case I really like the style of these boots and, at this price point, would buy them just the same. I do wish the heel was about .1875" shorter but that'd be more for mister Clark than a caveat for other shoppers.
