Very comfortable. I didn't buy from Zappos. I had the good fortune of buying this shoe in the store. Fit is excellent, comfort is beyond anything I ever expected. I spend 12 hours on my feet. Can't imagine wearing anything else.

Overall, these are pretty good shoes. Not the best that I've ever had, but they were not bad for a medium-priced everyday work shoe. Comfort was my main concern. I am a relatively big guy with wide feet and low arches. The 12EE that I ordered fits perfectly. The shoes were pretty comfortable when I got them, and after about a week, they feel pretty broken in. The only thing that is lacking is a removable insole. It looks like I could rip the insole out, but I don't really want to. The built in one is soft and cushion, but not firm. If I had to walk to work, then I would definitely rip the insoles out. On the style of the shoe, the leather is simple and good quality. Not too shiny and not too rough. I will be interested to see how it holds up over time. I would say that this is a good shoe that works well with a suit or with slacks.

Decent, but not as nice as some other Johnston and Murhpys. My foot is 10.75 inches long, 4 inches wide, and an 8.25 inch heel to ball (using the pencil trace method). I think I should wear a size 11 (because my foot is 10.75) and wide (not because my foot is 4 inches wide, but because my heel to ball is 8.25 inches). I ordered a 12 Wide because the reviews say it runs small. Turn out it's about half a size too big (I have 1.5 thumb widths between the top of my toe and the top of the shoe) and 1 centimeter too narrow (my small toe is slightly pushing against the side of the shoe). I had the same problem with the Rockport Bvallee, Bostonian Riverdale, and Bostonian Centuar so I m beginning to think the shoe is the right size, but I ordered the wrong size. Until Zappos came around I never had the ability to find the right size shoe and had to buy wide shoe styles and bigger sizes to accommodate the shape of my foot. The leather doesn't look as nice as some other Johnston and Murphys I have. The collar of the shoe slightly digs into the back of my heel. The insole of the shoe is the most unique I've ever tried. The cushioning is very pronounced and you can feel it against the arch of your foot at all times, thought I don't think it is actually supporting your arch but merely cushioning it. I'll order an 11.5 Wide and see what happens.

First, Zappos is always a joy to buy from, great reviews, love the videos and their shipping and customer service are exceptional. Second, these shoes are crazy comfortable. I took them out of the box, put shoe trees in them and wore them the next day. Easily the most comfortable shoe in my closet. Oh, they look great too.

Great shoe--like others, I had to go down in size, not up. I ended up a full size below my athletic shoe size. I think they recommend a larger size b/c the insole is well padded, but it didn't seem to make a difference for me. Now it fits great tho. Very comfortable and looks great too!

RUNS LARGE! I had to drop 2.5 sizes down (from 12 to 9.5) to get a good fit. Otherwise I'm very happy with the shoe!

This shoe runs 1 size too large. I wear a size 8 and it's 1 size bigger than every other size 8 shoe I own. The manufacturer saying they run smaller and to order .5 higher than normal is a giant load. Now I'm angry I have to return the shoe.

Shoe is very comfortable. I do not recommend following the manufacturer's going a half size bigger.

Excellent shoe. Others have said it feels smaller than marked - not the case. I ordered half a size larger and had to return it for an exchange.

Excellent shoe! I already own this shoe in brown and decided to get a black pair as well. Shoes were very tight, but have stretched properly after 3 times wearing them. Comfortable and so far durable.

Yup...go with your athletic shoe size - I was in a pinch when I bought this shoe and was skeptical whether I needed a size 16 shoe for feet that normally wear a size 15 in a dress shoe. I'm a medium width, and going with the majority of reviews, decided to purchase the size 16. I'm glad I did. Initially the shoe was quite "stiff," but after a while, these shoes are one of the most comfortable pairs I own. They look great and keep my feet feeling good throughout the work day.

Great looking, snug at first but stretch to comfortable fit - Shoes look great - I have a pair of brown as well, and ordered a black pair based on my experience. The shoes fit snugly at first, but stretch to a comfortable fit after a few times wearing them (snug around the top of the foot). Other than that they are pretty true to size, hold a great shine, and look great.

CLASSY AND SOLID!!! I have worn many pairs of J&M's in my time and happy to say that I still a very satisfied customer. The craftsmanship and quality of the shoe outweigh the price. Additionally, this was my first time ordering through Zappos and I couldn't be more impressed. I ordered the shoes Saturday night and they were on my doorstep at lunch on Monday... unbelievable!!! The shoe is extremely true to size and I plan on ordering all of my shoes from now on through Zappos.

First rate, classic dress shoe - Based on all the reviews here, I nervously ordered my usual 11 and an 11.5 just to be safe...but the 11 was spot-on, as always! Shoe is immensely comfortable immediately and required no break-in. Had a minor issue with the leather peeling away on the heel in the first 2 weeks, but I'm guessing that's an anomaly and the local cobbler sorted that out quickly.

Not standard J&M sizing - I normally wear a 10 in Johnston and Murphy shoes. Based on the reviews, I ordered a 10.5 and 11. End of the day I went with the 10.5.
