Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)

I ordered these shoes for my fiance for Christmas about a year and a half ago. We were almost at the year mark when I noticed that they were starting to develop some wear and tear. I expected that as he wore them quite a bit. What I didn't expect was for holes to develop in the shoes shortly thereafter. By then, we were past the 365 day return policy for Zappos. I bought him Sperry's thinking they would last a very long time as mine had. I have had the same pair for over 6 years and they are still going strong. I'm not sure if maybe they fell apart so soon because he wore them so much or what. I was extremely disappointed to spend so munch on shoes that didn't not hold up since that was the whole reason I bought the Sperry's as opposed to another brand. If you plan on wearing these a lot, I would NOT suggest buying these.

The shoes are a little narrow but still comfortable. They squeak slightly when I walk but I can barely hear it. Overall a very stylish shoe

He had only wore these for a couPle of weEks. Today he showed me where the threads were breaking at the bottom of nettinG. Very nice shoe, but that part did not hold up.

Left shoe came with tongue sewn in crooked. This should have been a second and caught at final inspection.

These look great and fit great but were not very durable. We are out of the Zappos return window but are sending back to Sperry because the sole has pulled apart from the rest of the shoe and they are just falling apart. Sperry agreed to take a look so we'll keep you posted to see if they do right.

This is my second and last attempt at this shoes because these shoes lack good construction. The sides of the shoes have torn in the cloth area of both shoes and I only had them since 2014 I notice the price has dropped on them and they may be the reason why!

I like these shoes a lot for their classy look. But on my left foot the left side of the shoe rides up and hits my ankle bone. Unfortunately I have to return them.

I bought a very similar model several years ago that was "wide". Since I often need extra wide, I was surprised at how wonderful those shoes fit. I've basically worn them out. So I ordered these, in extra wide, and have only worn them around the house. So far, I'm disappointed in that their too snug. I will continue to wear around the house to see if they will stretch. I can't believe that a "wide" in such a similar style fit me beautifully, but not so with the "extra wide".

I usually wear 8.5 or 9 in 3E. Initially ordered 8.5 XW which is supposed to be 3E, and it was half size too large, and just wide enough. Exchanged to 8 XW, and it is too narrow, definitely not XW. Have to return. The shoe seems to be well made and would have been comfortable if the size fit. Not too much support, but good enough for a boat shoe.

This has been one my favorite shoe models for years. Noticed my new, latest, pair has a nylon covered insole instead of the leather insole in previous editions I own. How well it will endure remains to be seen. I think the leather insole will prove to be more durable however. Also, the main leather of the new version was more weathered, distressed, looking than I expected from the online pictures. Not the oiled, or waxing, looking leather I expected. Since I usually apply Sno-Seal along the way, it my not be a problem, but overall I feel the product has been cheapened in materials. Sad to see after a good run with the Billfish. Fit and comfort remain constant.

I have been wearing Sperry Top-Siders for 25 years and for the first 20 years their quality control was nearly perfect. However, in the last five years or so I have noticed more and more inconsistency. The last two pairs of Billfish shoes that I have bought are over sized. I have always worn size 11 but the last two pairs were a little loose.

Very comfortable shoe, with some quality issues. The left shoe was dimpled, I think due to the packaging shoe tree, which may have stretched the leather. There is also a small orange stain in the outside meshing, from what looks like the installation of the interior foot cushioning. Not noticeable from a distance, but sadly, I see it and have been unable to remove it. The right shoe has a pressure scratch on the back heel that follows around the back of the shoe to the stitching. Normally, these just rub out. This one does not. A nuisance more than anything else . Even with all of this, I still kept the shoes. They are comfortable and will likely take a beating from me anyway.

same style and size as my last 5 pairs but made in the Dominican Republic, Previous shoes made in China. Not as well made. Material on the inside is thinner and not as well stitched. Pretty disappointed with this pair. Price keeps going up and the quality goes down.

Loved the shoes but the cloth part ripped after only 2 yrs of infrequent usage. What a waste on a pair of shoes... guess Sperry is the same ole Chinese crap we have come to expect not the good Sperry's that would last for many years becoming more like a lover than a shoe. this is for the Sperry top sider billfish 3 eye shoe

I have worn several pair of the billfish and each time within several months of average street wear the eyelets bend and pop out ,often catching or ripping skin if not wearing socks. Also side gusset fabric tears/rips where attached to sole. Overall the shoe does not last more than six months of normal wear.

I ordered this shoe in a EE width, and I don't think they are true to size on the width. I am not happy about this. I kept them because I thought they might stretch with wear, but they did not.

Be aware that the inside of this otherwise stylish and well-constructed shoe is coarse unfinished leather. If you have uncalloused heels like I do, then prepare for dime-sized blisters on both heels like I have. I suspect this coarse finish serves some function. But comfort is not one of them, at least not for people like me without tough-skinned heels.

It seems the shoes are different sizes. The right shoe is too tight. Have several pairs of Sperrys and sometimes the shoes are too tight.

Buyer beware. I wore these shoes without socks the first time I wore them. Well the insole, on the left shoe, has a layered pad and the glue came loose and it slipped to the left. When worn now, there's a constant sensation of the insole being out of place. This can probably be avoided by wearing socks, but these are "boat shoes," right? I thought about sending them back, but figured I'd just glue it back in place. In the meantime, I bought a pair of FRYE Men's Sully Woven Boat Shoes. MUCH BETTER, big difference with no cheap layered insole. They're comfortable with or without socks.

I have had 5 pairs of Billfish over the years. All were perfect, gave great wear and were comfortable but the pair I just purchased were defective in that the stitching where the soles attach to the uppers began pulling apart after a 200 yard walk. I had a shoemaker restitch them and they are now fine. I think I just got a bad pair and unless this is more than an isolated incident I would still recommend them. Sperry.. I suggest you inspect your stock. All this said, great service from the website and prompt delivery.

I have worn Sperry products for the past 50 years. I have seen a reduction in quality since Sperry outsourced production of deck shoes to Red China.

These shoes ran too wide, however I did not return, because my son needed them right away. He wears a size 16, so I was happy that Sperry carried larger sizes.

I recently purchased and returned a pair of new boat shoes. They were the same size and model number of a shoe made by Sperry four years ago. The model number from the label inside the tongue reads: 0777924 The shoes purchased four years ago were fantastically comfortable and had a good non-skid siping design on the sole, hence my desire to re-purchase the same model. They performed well. The current production shoe in the same model number was purchased at a local chain shoe store. Although they carried the shoe in stock, my size wasn't available. They offered to order my size and ship directly to my house. Upon arrival there were two issues with the new shoes, the most serious is the design of the sole siping. The design of siping has been changed from a "razor" cut (classic design?) to a new molded open style siping. This is an unacceptable change. The new siping pattern allows small grit and pebbles to imbed in the siping. This leaves scratches on the boat's gel coat finish. The razor cut siping is a superior way to make a non-slip, non-marring sole. It's what Sperry has marketed for years as a superior shoe, why the change? A minor issue is that the sizing/fit is no longer accurate. I bought the same shoe size 8M in the 0777924 the new shoe was too loose and was cutting at the ankle and heel.
