These are gorgeous boots but they do run small! I have never had an issue and have bought quite a few boots from different designer over the years. I could not even foot my foot into this size 8. I'm ordering up and hope they fit!

I loved the styling of this boot: the colors, shape, and feel. But I'm 5.3 with slender legs and it looked and felt too much like my garden wellies on my leg. It was much too wide at the top of the shaft. Makes me sad to have to return them. I think it would look lovely on a more athletic leg.

I was not familiar with this brand, but decided to purchase because of great price, reviews and look. I like the look of them even though the lower shank portion of the boot is a tad lighter than the picture (more grey). These are REAL riding boots, real leather and real stiff! Be prepared to have to break these in. High quality. Insole has a lot of gel heel cushion. Once they are broken in, I expect they will be my favorite boots!

These are great boots, not too narrow in the toe box, not too wide at the calf, comfortable to walk in, suitable for casual dress or jeans. I found the "distressed" leather to be extremely distressed - to the point of looking like used, damaged boots - in one case, so I returned one pair and got another. They are not truly black, but I love the shape so I will get them blacked at the shoe shop.

I ordered an 8. My toes were crammed in and the boot was definitely uncomfortable. It is unusual that I had to order an 8 1/2. I usually have to go down in size because I have a narrow foot. With a thick sock this boot is fine. Very warm and comfortable. I wore it all day teaching!

I loved the boots but was surprised when they arrived that the "Old West Black" was really more of a grey than a black. If the color had been all a true black, I definitely would have kept them. The fit and style were excellent, not too baggy at ankle.

These are beautiful boots but the sizing is totally weird. I normally wear an 8½ and could not even get my feet into them! So I ordered a 9½. Zappos has a great exchange policy. They fit but are still a little on the small size. Definitely order up a size. I like that they have a slim calf. They are probably not a good choice for someone wanting a roomier bootleg. But they will be good under jeans. They are a nice quality and are versatile in so far as being able to go more casual or polished.

Love the style but they were too tight in the calf! I have a 13 1/2 calf and evidently large for a size 6 1/2 foot?! Unfortunately I had too return them!

OW! This boot hurt once I had it on. I ordered a half size larger than normal. Too tight at the calves (I don't have skinny calves, but have never had an issue with tall boots before). The area of the boot where the top of the foot meets the front of the leg absolutely hurt when walking. It cut into my foot/leg. This boot is so gorgeous and I really liked the two toned of the boot, but just not going to work.

I really wanted to like these boots, but the seam on the front of the boot (right inside) could be clearly felt inside the boot and rubbed my foot arch. The left boot was fine.

I really wanted to like the Ariat York as it would save me a lot of money in comparison to the Fryes Lindsay Spur boots I purchased at the same time. Despite both being full grain leather boots, the Fryes boots just look so much more polished and dare I say worth the extra money? Although I would say these shoes are quite comparable and stylish, I decided that I'm willing to pay a bit (lot!) more for a pair of shoes that makes me feel like a million bucks. I ended up returning it but I'm sure The Ariat York would be perfect for someone else! They're gorgeous!

These boots hit the back of my knees. The worst part though, was that the right heel squeaked when I walked. They're going back!

These are beautiful boots, but they are going back. After reading the reviews saying that the boots were supple, comfortable and true to size, I was surprised to find them stiffer than ski boots, and they were incredibly narrow. They do not look narrow from the outside, but that stiff leather must be stiff, too; I could barely get my feet in. I am normally a 6½ to 7, but these in size 7 felt like a 6. I cannot imagine them stretching or softening up to the point of comfort. And while the footbed was narrow, the shaft was a little wide. It is a shame, because they are beautifully designed and executed.

I wanted this boot to work very badly. I have been in search of a narrower shafted two-toned riding boot and thought this was the one. It is a beautiful, comfortable boot and the calf fit me well with plenty of room for jeans but it slouches at the ankles. This would have been fine for me but where the leather creases the leather cracks and shows every scratch. I expected much better quality leather for the price so these must go back.

Beautiful boots, but the calf felt narrower than the 15 inches in the description. As other buyers have noted - these are not for people with athletic calves (14 inches and over). Unfortunately they have to go back.

I purchased the color Maplewood. The leather was very shiny, which made them look cheap. My husband's reaction was: "Are those rain boots?" They looked like they were made of vinyl. Additionally, I felt the toe area was too narrow vertically, meaning my toes were being squashed from above. I am returning them.

These are beautiful boots! I give them five stars on looks alone, but that is it because I was not able to get them zipped up past my lower calf! I bought both a 7/7½ just in case there was this issue. The 7 felt a little narrow on my foot where the 7½ fit well in width but felt long on my foot. But that was neither here or there since I was unable to get either pair zipped past my lower calf. I am so very disappointed that they are not made in wide calf size! If your calves are like mine and a little thicker just above the ankle, look to a wide calf boot. These will not work for you.

Very disappointed. Not the quality or craftsmanship I am used to from Ariat. As an avid equestrian, I have 3 other pair of Ariat riding boots which I love. I chose these from Ariat because I was familiar with the quality I should have received for the price. These boots appear to have been glued to the sole, the seam along the back of the shaft is puckered on both boots, and it seems that the shaft is set on a strange angle. The top of the boot is very narrow, I normally wear a full/regular calf, and these fit, but are very snug. Because it is narrower at the top than through the calf, the shaft does not sit flush on the leg, it creates a bubble. I do not have very large calves either. Leather was stiff, and rigid. Beautiful looking boot, but very poor construction. Maybe I got a lemon pair, since a lot of others were very pleased, but these are getting exchanged for another brand.

I bought these for my wife a little over a year ago for a birthday gift. She loves them, and she looks great in them. We were very disappointed the zipper did not last much more than one year. I am far from an expert in this area, but, I thought, for this price, they would last more than one year, especially considering she only wears them for six months per year.

I tried on six pairs of leather boots today, and this was the only pair that felt stiff. They were very stiff. I normally wear an 8½ or a 9, but most of my shoes are 9N. These boots were a 9, but they were so short that my toes touched the end. I did not even put on the second boot because the first was so uncomfortable.

I really wanted to love these boot. They are very beautiful, but when I received the first pair I ordered in the size I always wear, the shoe portion was so tight and stiff I could barely get them on. I exchanged them for a pair a full size bigger, and while they fit a bit better, they were so stiff and uncomfortable I knew I could never wear them. I was very disappointed as I have 2 pair of Ariat sandals which are my favorites, so I assumed these would work for me. Also, the second pair had severe discolorations, as if they were seconds. This pair is definitely going back.
