BOOT LOVE!!! i absolutely ADORE these boots. I put them on in my office when they arrived, and couldn't bear to take them off. I've worn them 4 times in 5 days. They got me home during last Thursday's blizzard when I’d forgotten to wear snow boots. Saturday night i planned my whole outfit around them. The soles are thick and comfortable, there's plenty of toe room (I did go down a half size). Bonus - they have great arch support. And looks? Every time I wear them I get compliments from friends and even strangers. Perfect combination of rugged and stylish. they work with skirts, they work with leggings, they work with jeans. Last but not least, they fit my calves - apparently I have narrow calves, because I've sent back 3 pairs that did not fit. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! THANK YOU ZAPPOS!

Great Boot - I have been looking for a basic boot for a while, something that did not have really high heel. These boots are perfect with skirts and jeans and are VERY comfortable. No need to go up on size, true fit.

What great boots-They were perfect for Europe!!!! What great boots for three weeks in Europe!!! I bought them in black and brown. They went to France, Sweden and Lodon with me. They were great for walking around alot, and looked very stylish as well. I put them with skirts and tights. Straight leg jeans and sweater dresses. It was cold, and they were warm!!! I tried several pair on before picking these. You will love them too!!!

Boot search over! These feel great. My foot is a bit wide, but I still have room for a warm sock. Top fits a little snug. Excellent for all day walking (right out of the box). Be prepared for the question:" Where did you get those?" Lot's of compliments. Zappos was outstanding - thank you customer service! I recommend Zappos to everyone!

The boots are very comfortable with a leather lined foot bed. I find the quality consistent with Ariat's other shoes. Having other Ariat shoes, I find the fit, quality, and appearance to be the best of all casual shoes. Dansko and Born are great shoes also, but I prefer Ariat to both.

Great equestrian-style boot - These Ariats are very comfortable. I can wear them all day with no discomfort whatsoever, even for a day of walking around town.

I searched and searched for boots that would be comfortable and cute and I think these make it. My feet are happy at the end of the day and the leather is so soft...some of the softest I've touched. The boots had a few little...spots on them due to the leather (I think) but overall I am very happy with these guys.

The boot is great. I loved how it looked and fit my foot. However, I am returning the boots because I have really muscular calves, and the boots would not zip all the way up. My feet and ankles are skinny, but calves are very muscular. Hopefully this information will help out someone else. The circumference of my calves at the largest point is 17 inches, and my ankles measure 9 inches.

The foot bed of these boots fit well, which I predicted as I wear Ariat paddock boots. They are very comfortable. The problem was, the calves were too wide for me and I should have guessed that as I have narrow calves. A model that had adjustable tightness in the calf using buckles would probably work better for me. This is a good boot for the value, though.

This is a real boot. I ride, so I wear a lot of Ariat boots and this one is right in line with their ability to produce a great fitting, comfortable, real (read excellent craftsmanship) boot. I didn't find the shaft too narrow as some reviewers indicated. I have average calves, I believe, and the boot actually fit perfectly. I had tried on a few pairs built for thicker calves and they made me look thick and short, to be avoided at all costs. The height and sleek look of this boot is perfect.

Only if you have a skinny calf! I just received a pair of the black leather Ariat boots in the mail. They are beautiful - the quality of the leather is really nice. Unfortunately though, they are too small in the calf. I ordered the size 7. I have 14" calves, and although the description says the boots fit up to 15", they will not zip up for me. Too bad! They are lovely looking, but will have to go back.

Cute boots - I bought these boots for a trip I was taking to Chicago. I wanted something that would be comfortable enough to walk in, but super cute as well. They held true to the cute-factor... but after about two hours of walking I started getting blisters on both my heels. I might have been wearing too thick of socks, but either way, I had to take them off.

Almost great - I love your boots, but with one reservation. While there is a gusset at the top of the boot to zip them up over the to of the calf, it is cut off by a horizontal seam, at exactly the widest point of the calf, so it is hard zipping the boot past this point. If the seam were even 1/2 inch lower, the boot would be a dream. Other than that, very nice boots.

Fit my calves! They are very pretty, and I can tuck in my jeans! I wear a 9-9.5 shoe size and have a little bigger calves at 16". They fit well and look great!

Thank goodness Zappos is great with the returns. I'm on my 3rd pair of boots and thought the reviews looked good on this Ariat. I've owned several pairs of clogs and thought that the higher price boots compared to others I got might do the trick. I'm average height, average weight, and no surprises, so thought this boot would do the trick. The shaft was so tight that I barely got it zipped and figured that the zipper would probably give out soon since it had a bit of a snag in one tight spot. For the price this should have been a great boot. It looks great, but no cigar.

Measure your calves! I have been searching for boots all winter. This is a great looking boot and was backordered for a couple of weeks until I could order it. It looks great; unfortunately, I could not zip it up. I am not a heavy gal. I walk/jog 1/2 marathons, so I have athletic calves and I could not get them up. Very disappointing...maybe next year someone will come out with pull up boots or wider circumferences...until then no boots.

Like other Ariat products I have purchased, these boots are high quality. These will probably be the last boots you will ever buy. You can trust the measurements to true. And I should have known that when I ordered these boots. When it says the shaft circumference is 14" it is. I thought maybe the leather might stretch with my 14 1/2" calf, but no way. I am very sad.

Quality. I have much to tell you about these boots, but it's quality that pervades. Tried on almost-but-not-quite-satisfactory boots for weeks. (Thank you, Zappos.) Came to certain conclusions. I want quality leather that will age gracefully. And if a style is going to be referred to as Riding Boots, I want real riding boots. Too embarrassing otherwise. I selected the Old West Black and Black coloring. I still remember lifting the first boot out of the box. Beautiful workmanship and, of course quality leather. Apprehensively looked at the soles of the boots. Was relieved and so pleased to find well made soles that will not slip and will be quiet. I don't like to clop clop along the street. (That's for the horse to do.) It is very helpful to me that Zappos allows reviews of products. Makes me trust the company. I know that reviews are opinions. While it's good to know what others think, sometimes the thing that makes someone return certain footwear is the very reason I order it. With these boots, I think someone mentioned they were a bit narrow in the shaft for them. I look at that and say My Boots! My Boots! Regarding these boots, a reviewer mentioned that they looked faded in places. I wondered if she had ordered the Old West Black coloring, thinking she had ordered solid dark black. I thought the grayish dappled look shown in the pictured was subtle and lovely, so I took a chance and chose it. Looks gorgeous! And it is panels on the shaft that are colored in that way, with solid black clearly delineated above and below. I'm not sure what it's called, but it is a custom hand done coloration that takes extra time, as far as I know. We shoppers look at so many boots that sometimes the information we try to glean runs together in our thoughts. I wondered about the reviewer who did not find these to be good walking boots right away. No, dear these are riding boots. Well made full grain leather riding boots, with a sturdy sole and reinforced mid-foot support. Give them time. Special treat: No one has mentioned the zipper pull. These Ariats have attractive, sturdy looking zipper pulls that seem to be made of quality metal. And the tabs are designed to rotate a bit to allow pulling from different angles. (My last pair of boots, of a lesser brand, became unwearable when the little tab broke off the zipper pull. Broke, not came loose. Could not be repaired, and no one would put in a new zipper.) Oh yes, and for reluctant zippers, the traditional remedy is a bit of soap on the slow area. Not shower gel, now, soap. (Saddle soap?) That's assuming you first checked the area to be sure a bit of thread or something wasn't holding back progress. (My pair okay.) Quality throughout!

I've tried most of the Ariat boots and they all fit well and are comfortable, but this brown color discolors badly wherever it bends, making it look weird. The black doesn't do that. I sent them back.

Like other recent reviewers, I love the style of these boots, but I have to send them back because they were so stiff. I expect good leather boots will need to be broken in, but these were uncomfortable to move in, especially when walking up and down stairs. I ordered them in black and was disappointed by how grey they appeared. I also found the fit in the calfs to be on the tight side. Overall, they are not worth the full price for me.

Great boots! Perfect for petite girls (I am 5'3 and these came about 1-1.5 below my knee). First wearing was on a business trip, from 5am-9pm (through airport, standing for hours at a stretch throughout the day). No blisters, no pain. Wore them again upon return, on a walk to run errands with same result. Fantastic!
