Wide in the heel. My heel slips inside. Shoe part looks huge. Doesn't look like they are in a class of their own, yet should for that price. Good for a wealthy rider.

The boots were beautiful but way too big for my skinny chicken legs. I felt like a little kid wearing grown up cowboy boots! (I have 12 1/2" calves and am 5'2"). I wouldn't recommend these for someone with skinny legs, but they were super soft and I wish I could've kept them! Also seemed to run a little bit big in the foot, so I would be conservative when ordering.

I love the taupe color and the style is great! I just couldn't deal with the heel slipping. I hate to return them. The Jane Tall Cuff is much more comfortable. I just wish they had the taupe in my size.

I was very excited when I received these boots because I have owned Frye boots before and have loved the style and material. I have only worn the boot about a half dozen times, but after the first couple of wears I noticed that the heel of my foot was rubbing against the seam in the back of the boot. I thought that this would soften and go away, but the opposite has occurred. The position of the sewn seam is right where my heel is, causing a painful blister every time I wear them. The heel of the boot is wider than most causing my heel to slip around after just a couple of wears. So now I can't wear them. At a price that this is, literally, a painful development. I will contact Frye to see if they will take the boots back. Maybe Zappos can help me with that.

I was originally so excited to buy these boots, but when I pulled them out of the box today, the right boot shaft was 1/2 inch longer than the left! So they hit at different places on my knees which looked weird, and then I got out a tape measure and they are totally different heights. What a bummer. I ordered the Frye Dorado Riding boots in black, they are beautiful! Besides the obvious defect, the height is perfect, 1 inch below below my knee (I'm 5'8") and I love the feel of the leather. They actually fit true to size for me, I'm a size 8 regularly am usually a 7.5 in Frye's. I'm so sad to be sending them back!

Comfortable, casual, easy to pull on boot. I'm 5'11, size 10.5 medium, with muscular calves. Per other reviews about this boot running slightly large, I selected the size 10M. The shaft of the size 10M fit just below my knee. With the buckles in the back, I can adjust them to fit tighter or looser depending upon what I'm wearing. The fit is exactly what I expected from a riding boot -- slight heel slip [which is normal] and moderately tight across the ball of the foot. I'm contemplating taking them to my shoemaker to have the back seam taken in slightly for a more form fitted look. I wanted a pair of casual off-white/cream boots and chose the Taupe. It is a soft, slightly distressed cream color.

I have had these for close to year now and love them. These are my fourth pair of Frye boots and my favorites (well, I love the Jane strappy too, but I think these edge them out). I have lots of dark boots so got the taupe as a new look and find them really versatile. I wear them to work with skirts, around town with jeans and even do quick trips to the stables to grain horses and they are none the worse for the wear. The taupe definitely darkens up over time, but I think they look even better than new with a little wear to them. There is a break in time and heel slip in the beginning, but now amazingly comfortable. Worth every penny.

This is a stunning boot - classic styling, good fit, really comfortable, looks fabulous with any length skirt or dress or with pants tucked in. I have only worn them a few times so I have to work a little to get them on. I find if I put my foot in the boot and then move the lower strap over my heel, they go on pretty easily. Since they're leather I expect them to soften and become easier to put on. I'll have these forever.

Frye boots are very high quality, and this pair is no exception. The brown color is gorgeous. The toe is narrow, but that, along with the cute buckles, adds an extra feminine touch to these boots. They are a little tall for someone like me who is 5'3" - but still, I really like them and am very happy with them. They are a little more expensive, but Fryes are classic and last a long time. Fryes always run a little big. I wear a 7½ in most shoes and purchased a 7 in these.

I bought these and a Cole Haan boot because I wasn't sure which one I would like. I read the reviews that said you slip out of this boot until it is worn in. I also was concerned that it would be too wide around the calf. I have very thin calves. The boot is fabulous. The quality of the leather is excellent. They are really elegant. You really do stop slipping out after a few wearings. The calf is a little big but looks perfectly fine with jeans tucked in. I think these boots will last for years. No comparison (in my view) to the Cole Haan boot. Definitely worth the investment.

This boot fits true to size. They do stretch with wear so order your rela size. Great leather and classic look. I own 3 pair of Dorados and love wearing them!

Frye is the best. Even better than I expected. Everything about these boots is great, and the calf is wide without looking large.

So worth the initial pain! Yes, the toes were a little squished at first, took them in to be stretched and whola. Will be back for more colors! Only think I would change is, give them an 1 1/4 heal and a 18 inch shaft and they would be totally perfect!

This boot is very well made and comfortable. I have a very high arch and was concerned it would be difficult to pull on but it isn't. I was concerned that it would come too high up on my knee, but based on some other reviews, I ordered it anyway. It does come up slightly over my knee. But, you can scrunch it down a little, it just depends on the look you are going for. Everything else makes them so keepable, I'm going to live with it. But it definitely is a very high shaft boot, especially for us height challenged girls.

Best boot purchase in my life! Love these and wear them daily! This color goes with everything, and other people comment on the style and color often, loving the look. Ive never paid this much for any shoe or boot, but I would make this purchase again!

I have wanted these boots for 2+ years. And just as I had expected they are absolutely beautiful & obviously they are very well made. The leather quality is fantastic! However I have a very narrow foot & they are just way, way too wide for me. I can literally just kick them off. So I sadly had to return these but I did discover that the Frye Rider Logo Boots are made much more narrow & fit my narrow foot much, much better & so we are living happily ever after!

I love these boots. It took me a long time to commit to spending the money as they are quite pricey, but I don't regret the purchase. They are beautiful, extremely well-made, and very comfortable. I found the size to be just right. I do find that my heel does slip a bit but it isn't much of an issue. The quality of craftsmanship is evident, and I know that I will have these boots for a very long time.

Fabulous boot! Very comfortable from the first day. I wear them to work and am on my feet all day; they are my go to choice! Only negative: the boots are a bit large in the heel and my heel slips. I get tons of compliments. I especially like the color (dark brown).

Finally!!! A tall boot that fits my calf over a pair of skinny jeans. This boot goes on easier than any of the others I've tried and is beautiful. Just love the color. Size 7 is true to size, but a little tight at toes so that is why I'm giving comfort only 4 stars. I believe it will stretch like my daughters did.

Love this boot. Runs a bit small. I'm a true 6 and had to exchange for a half size up. Tight in toe.

This is not my first pair of Frye riding boots, so I have gone through the break-in period before to come out the other side in love with my boots. I have just tried on my new Dorado riding boots in black leather, my regular size in all my other Fryes, and they look and feel great. I agree with other reviews that they are initially stiff, and slip in the heel, but I have other riding boots and hand-tooled cowboy boots that felt the same way in the beginning, before the sole has learned to bend, and the leather molded to your feet, so I am optimistic. I will wear them around the house and if they seem to be okay, will wear them for short periods at first. Any well-made, durable leather soled boot requires some break-in. They are truly a gorgeous boot, and an investment, as they will last for years.

Bought these for my daughter and she loves them! She wears a cableknit like sock with them, nothing real heavy. She'd like another pair same style, different color.

These boots are beautiful, but run a full size smaller in dark brown. I tried them on last year in the antiqued brown and they ran a size big. It s a roll of the dice.

These are so comfortable! The leather is exquisite, the crafstmanship apparent and the style is timeless! The boots do not slouch, even after standing up in my closet for at least two weeks! The boots come right up to your knees, for reference I am 5'7". The size is spot on. I wear between at 8-8½, but since I will be wearing thicker socks for the fall/winter I went with an 8½. The heel is slightly loose when I wear them with tights, but completely manageable! The boots are worth saving for as they will last a lifetime!

These boots are expensive but worth it! I live in the Northeast, so winters are pretty rough between the snow, sleet, rain, and salt on the sidewalks. I was going through a pair of boots every winter, so I finally decided to splurge on these rather than spending a lot each fall on a new pair of flat leather boots. I have just survived my third winter in these and they are better than ever. After a slight break-in period, the leather molds itself to your foot. I wear them 4-5 days a week from November to February/March, and they are good for work and for weekends.
