This is a beautiful boot. After only a day of wearing, the heel counter had stretched to the point of my foot slipping out with every step. I found them true to size but perhaps a tad too wide. I have narrow feet.

After carefully reading all of the reviews on this Frye Dorado Riding Boot, I decided to take a chance. I was very concerned about the reports on heel slippage, so I decided to order an 8.5 instead of a 9. I have two other pairs of Frye Boots (Harness and Campus) in size 9 and they fit swell, a little big, but never a problem with slipping, blisters, tightness, etc. These boots run big. They are longer than where my toes end, but kind of tight in the ball of the foot area, and I don't have any issues with width or bunions. Unfortunately, they slip in the heel like mad. I am so disappointed. I don't know if it's just this pair, or if it's all of them. I'm wearing them right now and here's what happens: Standing with my feet flat on the ground, they're fine, but if I position my feet into a tiptoe, you can feel a gigantic gap of space under your heel area. When I walk, even just a few feet my heel goes up and down rubbing the back of the boot. It's really annoying. I'm going to see if there's anything I can do about this because they are gorgeous boots. The shaft fits perfectly and even offers plenty of room to tuck in jeans (my calves are normal sized). I'll try a few things in an effort to remedy the situation and report back with the results.

These shoes might very well be the best shoes ever made, and certainly the best shoes that I have ever owned. As someone who is a bit obsessed with the 70's, these platforms represent every dream fulfilled of what it might have been like to have been the ultimate boho diva in 1978. When I opened the box, I almost wept at how flawless they were in workmanship and detail. Then I tried them on, and they slid onto my feet like Cinderella's slippers, and I was shocked to find that they are comfortable. Four inch platforms are comfortable? YES!!! And I am not one of those people that wears heels very often, so that is amazing to me. These shoes are pure heaven in a box--thanks to both Kork-Ease and Zappos!!!

These boots are stunning BUT the shaft was way too tall for me. I'm 5'4. They came up to about mid kneecap but the way they hit the kneecap caused the boot to wrinkle/sag. They did not fit nicely at all. I don't necessarily care if the fit is not snug, but definitely was looking anticipating a smoother fit. Back they go but boy are they pretty!

These are the most uncomfortable poorly designed boots ever. The heel slips so bad I get blisters! I put on two pairs of socks and that fixes the heel, but makes the toes too tight (very painful). They aren't shaped right apparently. Also, they scratch so easily and the bottoms scuff up (visible around the edges). I'll never buy another pair of Frye boots!

While I loved the color, the quality of leather was not up to par. I have this boot in black, and the quality of the black leather seems to be better than the charcoal gray leather. I was very disappointed, because as I said I loved the color!

Fantastic styling, but the heel is too roomy so the back of my foot pulled up when I walked. Also, these are for wide-calved women. Even with the adjustable strap (which only adjusts so much), my legs were swimming in them. For this kind of money, I want a perfect fit. These were far from it.

These look amazing, but slip a lot when they are on, and are gapey around the front of the ankle. I really wanted to love them as they look amazing, but not perfect.

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)

I was so excited to get an expensive but hopefully high-quality pair of boots which I can care for and enjoy for years. First, when I opened the Zappos box I was disappointed to find that the boots did not come in a Frye brand box, which made me suspicious of whether this was a previously-worn, returned item; my hunch was right. The pair I got was scuffed up on the outside, the insoles were un-glued from (what I suspect is) hours of wearing and/or walking, and the calves were stretched out. Zappos usually has excellent customer service and quality control, so this review, I guess, is more about my disappointment with Zappos than is about the shoes themselves. I loved the look of the boots, but I expected thicker, stiffer leather (that would stretch to fit the wearer in time) for this price, but this pair was flimsy thin material that may have become that way through wear by a previous buyer. Beautiful brown-burgundy color was beautiful though, and I really recommend that aspect of these boots, but that's where it ends. So disappointed - these will have to go back...

I was terribly disappointed with these Frye boots. The quality was far less than any other Frye purchase that I have ever made. The quality was cheap. I would not be surpized if these were knock-offs, as they were not in the original box. For this price, I expected much more. I am surprised that Zappos sold them.

I love the way these boots look; they're the perfect looking riding boot when they're not on my body. Unfortunately, all of Frye's tall boots look like fishing waders on me as I'm only 5'4" tall with fairly thin legs (110 pounds and wear a size 7 shoe). Given that the average woman is 5'6" it seems odd to me that Frye seems to use a fit model that is Amazonian with these boots hitting most woman much too high on the leg. I'm of the opinion that no matter how good something looks off the body, if it doesn't flatter the figure, don't wear it. Wide, baggy, boots that come all the way up to the knee make a woman's legs look short, thick, and stumpy; all you see are the thighs and then a thick shape coming straight off of the knee. A perfect height hits several inches below the knee so that you can see the shape of the leg (this is how these look on the 6 foot tall models). Just as jeans come in different lengths, and shoes often come in different widths, I wish boots came in different height shafts (petite, normal, tall). At the very least, Frye should consider making a few styles to flatter women under 6 feet tall!

If available, I would have given this a NO Star. Zappos sent me the totally wrong boot AND it was a WORN boot. Both boot's soles are scuffed and dirty. Customer service was helpful in resending, haven't received the correct one yet, but I don't think a used boot should have ever been sent to me in the first place!

MAJOR DESIGN FLAW with this gorgeous boot. The buckle in the back left a huge gash across the opposite knee when I sat down and crossed my legs. Hated to return them because they are so beautiful.
