As soon as I slipped into these boots, I was so excited because these are almost custom made boots. I have a big calf, and compared to my calf size I have a very small ankle. I always have problems with my boots with a lot of wrinkles around my ankle area. I am glad I ordered my regular size 9 because those wrinkles look minimum. (When I tried on 8.5 at a department store, I was not happy with the look of my ankle area. I loved all about these boots except the wrinkle problem as usual.) I may have to tuckle a little to wear over skinny jeans, though. For those who have average calf size, there will be no problem because these boots have bigger calf than other boots. It also gives a long and lean look because they are tall. The service of Zappos was exceptional. My boots arrived within 48 hours! Thank you, Zappos.

I love these boots but the heel is too big for me and gave me blisters on both feet the first time I wore them. I will try thick ski socks the next time I venture out and hope that that will fix the problem.

I waited 4 years to buy these boots and they were worth the wait. The leather is much softer than you would think by the picture. Very easy to get on and off. Lots of calf room because they are a little loose for me, but that is okay. True to size, 9, a little loose in the heel. I wore them all day the first time I wore them and they were comfortable. I have lots of pain on the balls of my feet, but they were not too problematic with these flat boots. Love them very much.

Paiges Are Better - I love these shoes. They look super cute, but when you’re wearing them, your heel slips causing horrible blisters. I have a pair of Frye Paige boots that are beautiful and don’t do this, so if you’re looking for Frye boots, check out the Paige style.

Great boot - Overall really excited about the boot. I always order a half size smaller in any of the Frye products. Heel slips slightly when worn with a thin sock and will need more than one wear to break them in. Easy on and off is nice when going through airport security. Beautiful workmanship.

Not quite right for me. First, these are gorgeous well-made boots. I'm sending them back because they didn't fit me well and weren't exactly what I wanted, but Frye's quality comes through loud and clear in the smooth, supple leather lining and the outer leather and stitching. I was wary of the pull-on, no zipper style, but they slide on and off pretty easily. I found the foot slightly oddly shaped and it did not fit my foot well. I wear narrows usually, but in boots, I usually make do w/ medium width and wear socks. These have a very narrow toe that uncomfortably squeezed my toes and a wide heel that allowed my heel to slip. The style is beautiful, but w/ the very tall, all-the-way-to-the-knee shaft, and the overall shape of the toe and shaft, they are very hard-core classic equestrian in their look. I felt like they were a bit less versatile, as a result, than what I was looking for… but if a true equestrian-style riding boot is what you are looking for, these are worth trying. They aren't made for my feet, but you may have better luck. Obviously I sort of regret having to send them back since I keep saying how lovely they are. Whenever I see them, I sort of sigh and think, ooh, pretty boots.

Beautiful boots, but unfortunatley not for me. The black leather is too shiny and and the shaft a bit too tight. I will be returning them.

Huge bummer...I was eagerly anticipating these, and they arrived 1.5 days after ordering! I'm 5'3" size 7. The boot fit great in the toe, hugely loose in the heel. They were a bit snug on my calf (as most boots are), but I could pull these on fine. The problem is, I ran out of shin/calf and the boot just bagged around my ankle. Not attractive at all.

I am of two minds about these boots. First off, they are gorgeous! The leather is supple and has a great feel to it. You can tell it's a luxe boot. My sizing issues with this boot has been a nightmare. I initially bought this boot a year ago, when zappos randomly had a color I liked on sale. I bought it in my usual size which is an 11. I was swimming in it! The calf was so wide and the fit in the foot was a size too big. I felt like a kid trying on my moms shoes. I have fairly slim calves. I usually look for boots no higher than 14/14.5" in circumference. I was willing to go bigger because these boots are so beautiful. Those boots went back, sadly. So, here we are again almost a year later. Another pair randomly on sale. This time I got it in a size 10 based on other reviews that said that the boots would stretch. Upon trying them on it again felt too big. As I walked around in them they seemed to adjust a bit, stretch a bit. There was still heel slippage though. I've had them for about a month now and I've worn them out once. The toe box is tight and there is still heel slippage. I have to wear thin socks so I don't over crowd my toes in the shoe. I can't send them back because I've worn them out already thinking that they'd adjust more as I wore them. I think if they'd had them in a 10.5 they would be a better fit. In hindsight, I maybe should've stuck with the 11 and worn thicker socks and looked into getting the calf taken in a bit.

I run between 6.5 to 7, mainly a 7, so that's what I ordered. The leather is extremely stiff for this boot, I think that's why the price is higher for this boot among other Frye boots. It was also extremely narrow, and I have an average width foot. I don't know if ordered a 7.5 would've helped because it would've been bigger in size, but may still possibly be narrow. I'm also pretty short, around 5 feet, and this came to the top of my knee caps. It did not look attractive at all. I think this boot is best for women with tall, slender legs (but it's just my opinion!). So sad I had to return them because these boots are GORGEOUS.

Gorgeous boots but all reviews are true - super uncomfortable. Blisters on my heel every time I wear them. Wish I could give a great review but not worth the money.

I absolutely fell in love with these boots last Christmas and bought a pair of the spiced rum. I loved them and got lots of compliments but they truly were the most uncomfortable boots I have ever had. I tired so hard to wear them but they tore up my heel and I ended up breaking the structure of the heel one day when I had to walk across campus with burning blisters (ouch!). Love these too death, but not a good walking boot.

The space in the heel is huge; I kept walking out of them and the bottoms don't have traction, so they are slippery. The style is cute, but overall not near worth the price; I've had better luck with much cheaper boots.

I so wanted these boots to fit! They are beautiful and even a layman like me can tell that they are well made with quality materials. However, they really were uncomfortable. My toes felt pinched and my foot kept lifting up at the heel - I hate to think of the blisters I would have if I had worn them for any length of time. So I am returning them. Back to searching for the perfect riding boot again!

I wanted these boots for ages, and finally broke down and bought them just before Christmas. They are absolutely gorgeous and beautifully made, but unfortunately incredibly uncomfortable! I never have trouble finding shoes that fit, but these definitely run a half size larger than normal, and completely slip off the heel. Even after re-ordering a half size smaller, the heel was way too loose and they look great, but definitely not worth the pain!

I fell in love with these boots last year and tried to wear them all winter. They are the most uncomfortable shoes I have ever worn. I tried multiple times to break them in and ended up with blisters each time. Beautiful boots but such a disappointment.

These boots look amazing, so I want to give them an incredible review. But they were the most uncomfortable shoes I have ever worn in my life. I live in NYC and so need shoes I can walk in and these are not it. I have tried to love them and can't. It pains me to say that I need to say goodbye to them (after spending the money). They completely tore up my heel, pushed on my bunions (which are not even that big!), and generally were so stiff that I have to give up. So sad.

The boot looks amazing. The way it wears fails. I expect this from a cheaper brand; for the price I paid, I expect great quality. I could have bought a cheaper more comfortable boot from Cole Haan. The heel rubs, rubs, rubs. A heel insert does help, but you still don't feel like you're walking in a comfortable boot. Very disappointed. I have owned several Frye boots (order a half size down, ladies) over the years, and this is the first time I have been gravely displeased. I would suggest looking elsewhere for a high-knee riding boot.

I like the look of this boot for everyday casual needs - jeans and was not worried it will get beat up too bad with wearing all over Manhattan. Unfortunately the way it fits on me I got a blister from all day walking. Still like the look and will try to add some kind of pads to prevent blisters. The finish is not a luxury polish but for the price who can complain?

Absolutely Gorgeous! But I would have to agree with a previous review in that there is a serious design flaw with the placement of the top buckle. If you were to cross your legs, you would put a gash into the front of the other boot. For that reason, I am sending them back.

This is an absolute stunning boot in the photos, but sadly, the style and fit didn't live up to my expectations. Regarding the style - the leather looks much more luxurious and soft in the photos, but in reality, it appears "pock-marked" and stiff. Regarding the fit - the boots do run true to size (length-wise), but are awkwardly wide at the heel and uncomfortably narrow at the toe. All in all, I was as impressed as I thought I would be, especially at this price. Alas, I returned.

I love Frye boots but sadly these boots are not quite as elegant as they look in the photos...more rugged looking, actually, and the brown leather has a dull sheen. They are not rich looking at all. They are a tighter fit in the foot than the Shirley. They also are very tall. I had high expectations for these boots but sadly will be returning them. I am keeping the Shirley.

This boot is so beautiful and I am very disappointed that I have to send it back. The heel is very wide and I have a narrow heel, so it slips with every step. Blisters waiting to happen. I ordered a half size smaller, based on other reviews, and the length was right. The toe fit fine, so it seems odd that the heel is so big. Too bad, I would love to wear this boot. Zappos service perfect, as always.

These are indeed beautiful boots. Knee-high, mouth-watering leather, gorgeous detailing, great with skirts and dresses. I read every review here before ordering just to see what I was in for. I have NEVER paid more than $100 for a pair of shoes, so this was a practically life-changing investment on my part. I have to echo the sentiments of many others about the heel slippage, though. I am a true size 9, and while the base of the shoes fit perfectly, the sole is so stiff that it does not bend when I walk…thus causing the also stiff heel to rub up and down the base of my feet. BUT, that did not stop me from beginning my journey to breaks these babies in. Initially I resigned myself to wear them around the house for a little bit everyday...after a few days I felt I could handle it out in the real world. By the time I got home that night after work and a night at dinner I had quarter+ sized ripped open blisters on the backs of my feet...despite wearing bandaids underneath of socks. So, next step (now that it is too late to return them) is to take them to a leather/shoe craftsman in town. Maybe he can stretch the feet or make the soles more pliable. I know something has to be possible. I also got some of those sticky heel grips to try so that the shoes might stay with my heels as I walk. These options are still in the works, though. Bottom line: these are great boots visually, but just be aware that they are not a dream wear for everyone (even if they "fit" like a glove). Perhaps they are what true riding boots are supposed to be...stiff and sturdy. Not sure that equates to real-world wear, though. Here's hoping I can get my money out of these guys. Maybe I am supposed to get multiple rounds of blisters...will that eventually make them fit?

This is such a lovely boot, however, there is just so much extra room in the heel of the boot I’m not sure if I’m going to be able to keep it. It fits good everywhere else except for the heel. I ordered a size 8 and if I had ordered a size 7.5, it would have been too tight. I even put on a super thick pair of socks which then made the boot too tight and it still slips at the heel. I have the black leather pair and they fit great. I don’t know why this pair in the taupe color is fitting a little bigger. Take your chances when ordering the taupe color one. Like I said, the black leather pair fit just fine.
