Gorgeous and comfy, worth the price! These boots are absolutely beautiful and have turned heads here in Paris, France. I love the roomy shaft circumference and the flattering height. As other reviewers noted, the heel does tend to slip up and down, so maybe order a half size down (I ordered my regular size and think I'll just wear thick socks as winter approaches). The heel gives just the right amount of lift. I've gone on long walks in these boots just about every day since I got them, and no complaints! If you're worried about the price, buy this versatile, comfortable boot instead of a couple of other inferior models – you won't regret your purchase!

I love these boots - I have a really hard time ordering boots because of wide calves, but these boots worked for me. My calf is about 15.25 in the morning and a bit 15.5+ by evening. Aside from fitting they're really beautiful. I ordered half size larger based on other reviews, which works fine with socks on. My regular size may have been small, but I'm not sure.

Honestly the prettiest boots I've ever seen. Fit true to size for me. Bought the dark brown. Fit more narrow in the foot than Melissa button. I have narrow foot, so they're perfect for me. I hate that I'm having to return them, but I'm 5' 4" and they hit right at the middle of my knee cap. They hit about 3 or 4 inches too tall for me

These are beautiful boots. The footbed is a bit narrow and there is no room for inserts despite the lack of arch support. They are 8 hour max boots versus other fryes that I can wear 12-16 hours at a time. They take some breaking in and rubbed a blister on my heels and little toe - I've been wearing with thick socks to stretch them out

I've been searching for 3 years for the perfect black riding boot.Everything about this one is perfect - except that width. I can pull them on easily, even with my high arches. But the foot bed is really tight. I'm debating whether I should just take them to a cobbler to be stretched (and because they're all leather, it should work) or if I should just continue the search...

Finally, a pair of Frye boots that are not too snug in the calves! My calves are 15", and there is plenty of room in these to wear them over leggings or jeans. I ordered a size 9 which is what I usually wear, and they are a little narrow in the toe, but loose in the heel. They are beautiful boots and I like the way they look, however the fit is not quite right so they will be going back.

The good - Beautiful, beautiful red leather. Beautiful style. Excellent workmanship. Looks great. Nice long shaft. The bad - As others have stated the heal slides in the boot for some time before the slid lessens. The sliding has not gone away. I wear thick socks. The ugly - There is no support in the arch and very little padding at the ball of the foot. I will be putting in an insert. The sole is leather so I wouldn't wear them in Chicago icy winter weather.

5'10" 155 lbs - ordered my usual shoe size 10. Felt and looked too big - I could kick the boot right off. Ordered a half size down - 9.5 - fit great. That's ususual for me. Shaft hits just below knee cap for me. Little slipping in the heel, but read in reviews (and on the frye website) that goes away. Boots are absolutely beautiful and flattering.

Frye Dorado Riding in black Leather 6½M - These are gorgeous boots, but the 14½" circumference was too small in the calf for me. I was wearing short, thin socks and would not have been able to get leggings in there between my leg and the boot, let alone tuck jeans in. Surprisingly the height was OK even though I am only 5'1". Note the buckle on the back of the calf does not lie flat if you loosen it. I think it would have been comfortable if only more room in the calf. I do not think that the leather would look good if I tried to have it stretched. Bummer. I will stick to Frye's lace up oxfords or maybe try short booties. The only good thing is Zappos' free returns!

I'm 5Ft 3in and these boots were the perfect TALL riding boot. I also have athletic calves, and had to do a little stretching to get the boots completely over my legs, but after a couple of wears, they fit like a glove. The foot is narrow, and a size 7 is right for me, but felt a little roomy, as the back of my foot slips up. Overall, for the look it was what I really wanted. Wore them all night recently and did not have any issue.

These are great boots! They work with practically everything. I read the reviews before I purchased and the chief complaint was heel slipping. Truth be told, I put heel guards in immediately and the problem was solved.

This is a great-looking boot! I ordered a size 10 in charcoal (fabulous color) and while the length was fine, the boot was way too tight across the instep and in the toe - and I have a narrow foot. I like them so much that I considered having the toe area stretched but decided to return them instead.

Beautiful boot and leather color and feel were great but too narrow in foot. Not taking the chance with pricey boot that they will never fit properly. If you run on more narrow side of B width you will love this boot!

I am normally a size 9 or 40 and I know Frye boots have a generous fit so I have decided to hang on to these pricey boots and break them in! They fit comfortably with a nylon type of sock which is about as much as I wear in the south anyway. The fit seems good except for one toe (which is a little scrunched). Let's hope they give a little. I've been wearing them for a few hours around my house and I don't have blisters or sore spots. Fingers crossed.

Absolutely beautiful boot. The quality is amazing and leather is stunning. The only reason I am returning is because the calf circumference is too big and my legs are swimming in these boots. These would be perfect for someone with large calves. Also the sizing seemed to run a little big compared to my other Fryes.

These boots are as beautiful as it gets, but I have tried quite a few Frye styles and they slip in the heel - big time. So sad that I have to return.

The boots are gorgeous! I would love to wear them but they are too tight for my wide feet. Despite of being very narrow for the foot they are too wide in the heel area and the heel flip-flops while walking. They would be great for narrow feet however I am not sure how to handle the wide heel area. Have to return.

Beautiful boot, but definitely a problem with heel slippage. I also wish I would have ordered a half size up.

The first time I wore them, I developed huge blisters on my heels from slipping! Wear only an hour or two at a time the first few wearings to break them in! Now after wearing them a couple of short periods of time, they are incredibly comfortable and I love them. The ankles are a little loose and the shaft is roomy, so would not be great for women with thin calves.

I love the look of the boot. My legs are on the short side, and I feel like the boot comes up too high on my leg. If you have long skinny legs this is a fabulous boot for you!

Bought along with Delmans, for walking trip around NYC. I wanted "equestrian" and these fit the bill, but I am taking the Delmans, as I, too, am having a lot of heel lift as I walk. I think these are made truly for riding, rather than walking. My cowboy boots did same thing, but adjusted at heel. Too big at top for graceful wear with skirts, but will be adorable with slim pants or thick leggings. Jury is out! Beautifully, beautifully made. Nice and tall. Stiff, but they are supposed to be, they are riders. For money might throw in a bit more for Longchamp etc.

Great looking boot but be prepared for blisters when breaking. I highly suggest putting the liner pads in the back by the heel. The first time I wore these, they tore a hole in my heel. For this price, they should feel as good as they look.

Beautiful boots, quality leather. Fit well even though I have larger calves. Only problem was they fit loose in the ankle and looked slouchy. Loved these otherwise; was sad to return them.

Love the color and quality though the edges are a bit rough. The top is loose in a good way but the ankle is rather thick in the size 10. I'm 5' 10", 150 lbs with skinny-ish ankles and these were too loose for me.

Ahhh...I finally took the plunge and bought these in black. I think I have looked at every black knee length, low heeled women's boots out there! I got them today and have been wearing them around the house and I think I am going to have to send them back (sigh). They are just too tight across the toe area and too loose around the heel. In a cheaper shoe I could maybe take a chance that they will break in but for this amount of dough I can't take the chance. My Stuart Weitzman's, Charles David, and Juicy Couture’s fit right out of the box. Heartbreaking but somehow I shall muster the diligence to find my black boots that are out there just waiting for me! :)
