Much darker than picture. Look almost black. Calf area is very narrow. Quality overall not what you would expect for the price. Returning for multiple reasons.

Love these - and I'm on a weight reduction plan to reduce my calves in time for our wet spring. Otherwise, I'll have to take these to the cobbler and have them stretched at the top. Listen and believe. These are narrow boots. My calves are 15 inches and too fat for these boots. I'm not giving up - - but if I had it to do again, I wouldn't have purchased them.

These are nice boots, however, if you are a cyclist or anything else that develops calf muscles, you will not be comfortable in these boots. Do not even think about tucking a pant leg in. I can just barely get my leg in. Sadly, I had to return them.

Do not order this product if you have bigger legs. I have ordered them three times and none of them fit my calf. I am so angry, they are expensive. They should fit!

I was disappointed when I received these boots. They looked nice, but the size 8 was very snug around my calves - there was definitely no room to tuck by pants in. They were extremely difficult to remove - each time, I needed the assistance of someone else. I exchanged them for the Hunter Original Shorts, and they fit perfectly. Since they are 6 inches shorter than the Talls, they fit my calves, and there is still room to tuck in my jeans. If anyone is having problems fitting the tall in the calf area, try the short.

As I have heard good reviews about this product I was disappointed that they did not fit. The top is so snug that I had to return the women's for a men's and they were still too tight. I am 6 ft. and do not have very large calves so beware to those of you who do.

I cannot say enough good things about my purchase through Zappos. The order process and follow up were 5 star. I wish I could say the same for the Hunter boots. I have used the Hunter Originals for four decades and have always been impressed with the quality of the materials, craftsmanship, fit and durability of the product. They have always been well worth the extra price that you paid for them. I fear that this opinion will no longer be the case. Hunter has moved their manufacturing from Scotland to China and the care in assembly has suffered. On one pair that I purchased, the heel was not properly centered and was twisted approximately 8 degrees out of plumb with the sole of the boot. The construction no longer is the laid up construction on fabric backed neoprene that I have come to know and love. They now appear to be a molded product and although still comfortable, I suspect that they have changed to an injection molded polymer. What it is, I do not know as they no longer seem to be proud enough of it to identify the material. The fit seems okay but the lasts used to make the boots are now the generic lasts common on boots produced in China. They never seem to have quite the same feel as the European lasts. In short, for the inflated price that is charged for the Hunter boots, they have made too many changes to downgrade the quality for my taste. I feel that they can no longer be called "Original" Hunters. These will probably be the last ones that I buy.

Yes, the Hunter brand is highly respected and the casual workhorse has become quite the snooty accessory these days. Not a great work boot though. No real tread to speak of (okay, it doesn't track mud), no counter tab at the heel so one must use a boot jack or get muddy hands taking them off. Poor quality insole and an overall cheapness to the Chinese manufacturing. These are not your fathers wellies! Give me a good pair of LaCrosse any day.

I have tried several pairs of Hunter original boots including The Huntress. Sadly, I must return all of them as none have met my needs. The Hunter Original is way too narrow for anyone with athletic calves. The website suggests the Huntress for those with the athletic calf. However, I am 5'10, and for whatever reason, the Huntress is also at least an inch or more, feels like several inches shorter than the Original Hunter. If you are tall, it really cuts you half way up the leg and it isn't the most desirable look. I see from the comments that many people who are short are buying the Huntress. They complain that the Hunter Original is too tall for them. If you are 5'2 and wear a size 8 shoe, and another woman is 5'10 and also wears an 8, the difference in height between these two women is more than half a foot in height! That is also reflected in where that boot will end up in height on each of the wearers. Surely the tall person is looking for the tallest boot they can find. The Hunter Original Adjustable does offer the same height in the boot. It is tall; however, it doesn't seem to be sold in the US. There is an adjustable opening on the side where the little buckle is. Just like an old fashioned rubber boot would be. If you are tall, with an athletic calf - this is the boot for you. There are so many people who need this boot that I feel sales would double here in the US if it were sold here. Why limit us to the lower Huntress, or the skinny Original? The Balmoral style also has an adjustable buckle. Come on Zappos, be the first in the US to carry these styles. I may have to wait until I go to Scotland to buy the boot I want. I am also not happy that they are all made in China now anyway. The French Le Chambeau might be an alternative to the Hunter, and it is still Made in France with a high quality! But thank you Zappos for letting me try these and return.

Love the boots, but if you have larger calves, invest in the Huntress boot instead of the original! The originals are a bit too tall and too tight - the Huntress ones are wider and fit large calves much nicer! Both boots are great; just be sure to get the one that seems best for you.

These are great boots, but despite the fact that I have skinny calves, they were just too tight. They stuck to my legs, and I'd have never been able to get jeans tucked into them, much less thick socks in winter. Plus, they were uncomfortable. I exchanged them for the Huntress, which are a little wide in the calf, but that's way preferable to needing my husband to help me take my boots off.

Great boots, except for the blooming effect. This is where white swirl marks appear due to some part of the manufacturing process. Supposedly you can clean them off, although I tried washing and it had no effect. I've only worn them 1.5 times. Have to return.

Not good if you are looking for a wide calf boot - I ordered the men's boot because it stated that the calf was larger than the women's and I have a very wide calf. The calf is not wider in the mens boot at all. It felt exactly the same as the women's. I am sure that the quality of the boot is great but I had to return mine and will have to look for something else. Zappos service was great. The boots arrived the next day and I can return them for free.

I have had my rain boots for about a year. They already have a crack in both boots, and because of the cracks they make my feet wet when it rains. I cared for them according to care instructions. I expected my boots to last a lot longer. Other than that, they are cute and match with a lot of outfits.

While I do love these boots, out of nowhere the back rubber part that holds the buckle to the boot broke, meaning that the back strap is left dangling. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem like an easy or inexpensive fix. I do find this very disappointing given the high price of these boots.

Not the same ones I remember wearing on my Horse farm. These are terrible. Wish I could compare these side by side to my last pair about eight years ago. I know that I beat my old ones up and they never leaked. They are not built the same, they don't seem to fit the same and they leak water. The bottom line is I wore these boots today (first time) my grass was wet from the morning dew and I felt cold water on my toes. Basically got a cold sensation. Later on in the day when I came inside I took them off and my socks were a little wet. I reached inside the boots and I could feel the water inside. That was my right boot, then I did the same with the left boot and it was wet too. The water came in from the toe of both boots. I called customer service and they fixed the problem (return label for UPS) no charge and then applied the credit towards a pair of Le Chameau boots. I recommend not to buy these boots. They are not the same quality that they are known for. These felt larger from my last pair and I don't remember them being large in the Calf area. These are very large and difficult to put my jeans over them.

Not exactly stylish, or comfortable in the least. Might take a few weeks to break in but after a day I found that I wouldn't be able to wait that long. The rubber is not flexible to the shape of your foot so unless your foot matches the sole shape, you're in for some aching feet.

I love these boots! Have worn them frequently during the recent round of wet weather. However, beware those elastic straps holding the buckles - have only had them a month and the elastic has broken and I have lost a buckle. And these fit my calves perfectly and I was not wearing them pulled completely tightly! Thus, though I love the style and fit, I have to rate it low for the poor quality of that portion of the boot.

Nice, but tight. I bought these as a replacement for my LL Bean Wellies. They are a nice boot, but the ankle and calf area are cut snugly, enough to prevent you from inserting your pants into the boot (which was not the case with the discontinued LL Bean model). I assume this is because the boots are meant to be worn with "breeks" (fancy British word for knickers) which just crest the top of the boot. I kept them, but if they crack or I get fed up with my pants bunching around the top, I'll look for another brand. Basically, despite their pedigree, these have been relegated in the U.S. to fashion rain boots for young ladies. Go to any college campus and they are practically viral. Another downside. Sorry.

I'm generally a 9-9.5, originally tried Hunter Tall & they would have been great if I could get them on and off...the calf was ridiculously small. I am 6' tall, athletic slender build. I'm an avid runner and by no means have large calves. I could barely get the Women's Hunter Tall boot on, impossible with the welly sock or to fit jeans inside. Returned for a men's size 7 in this Hunter Hunter Original thinking the extra room would make a difference. The calf was slightly larger but not comfortable enough to keep and this pair was huge around the ankles making an uncomfortable gap when walking. Both pairs have sadly been returned. Kudos to Zappos for excellent customer service...5 stars for communication and shipping returns!

These boots are a lot so they should last a good 5 years with light wear. I bought these boots two years ago and wore them on average 2 times a month, only when there was rain in the forecast. There is now a crack in the toe area of the right boot that lets massive amounts of water into the boot and soaks my foot. Of course I can't do anything about it so I basically wasted money for boots that are very poor quality. Never again will I buy anything from Hunter.

I purchased a pair of hunter boots because I thought they were a good quality product that would last. I have worn my Hunters a couple dozen times and they now have a crack in the top of one of the boots. Customer service was of no help as they said that if you have them for more than a year that the crack is normal wear and tear. Pretty expensive for them to only be expected to last less than a year. I would not recommend this product as the quality is very poor for the price.

I bought Hunters last year, I live in NYC, I see these boots everywhere and ignorantly thought well they must be a great product if people are willing to pay this much for rubber boots. I received my boots in January, by August one of them had a hole in the bottom and squeaked...which is obviously super annoying. I put it off and wrote Hunter customer service in October, no reply. I again wrote them in December, no reply. My last attempt I just flat out told them how livid I was spending that amount of money on a product they couldn't even be bothered to respond to my multiple emails about. If you like to throw away money on a name, by all means go for it, but I personally will be buying my rain boots from that reputable, reasonably priced brand (from Maine) that I know for a fact has great customer service.

Ordered these, a week later they still had not arrived. When I called to inquire about the order I was told it was a problem with UPS. No discount, or remedy or further explanation was offered. Just that hopefully they would arrive soon and that there was nothing else they would do. Horrible customer service. I still do not have my boots.

Oly had these a couple of years and they started to leak through the seams. Believe it or not, they say rain boots and the like would have only a 6 month expectancy. I have been a long time shopper of Zappos, and sister site 6pm.com, but there was no help in customer service for returning these defective boots. No more Hunter boots for me! Shame.
