SO I first bought the Womens Joan of Artic book and they were wayyyyyy to heavy/big/bulky for me. I was very pleased when I received this pair. VERY VERY comfortable and cute! Would definitely recommend this boot.

I like the look and they're warm, but they're clunky. It was hard to walk our normal 1 mile evening walk because I felt like the laces were too thin to tie up tightly enough. Too tight and it cut off circulation, but too loose and my foot slipped. Maybe they just need to be broken in... Definitely awkward to walk in though.

I love this boot but it is a size to large. I usually take a women's size 9 and I should of ordered a size 8. I can deal with it because I put on a heavier sock than I would like but other than that they are wonderful.

I was excited to received my new Sorel boots, but I was disappointed when I tried them on. The boot is large. It looks like clown shoes. I am usually a 8 . After reading the reviews decided to order 7.5 . Even with a smaller size they were big. Sad to return them and afraid to exchange since there is no free shipping and sizes are not to true size.

My pair of Carbou boots seem really good, they're true (-ish) to size, maybe a little roomy but I like the option to fit very thick socks. They are warm and they are waterproof. I appreciate the heavily lugged sole over other similar Sorel styles, as it's grippy. If my experience ended there, they'd get 5 stars.
However, originally I bought the Sorel 1964 nylon boots, and a part of the rubber bottom was dry rotted after just a month. Sorel replaced them, thankfully.
So, my Carbous are very nice, and they do the job very well. But I'm concerned about how long they'll last; based on my own Sorel experience.

These boots look nice. I ordered a 9.5 (I usually am 9.5/10) but people said they ran a little big. However, mine were slightly snug for a 9.5. I thought they were just too clunky/heavy for lighter winters in Portland and for occasional trips to the mountain. I am returning these. They are DEFINITELY heavy duty. Maybe they'd be better for someone in Idaho, Minnesota or Wisconsin with heavier winters.
I ended up ordering and sticking with a pair of the 1964 boots. LOVE those.

First let me just say I LOVE the Sorel Boots this is my second pair the first pair i had lasted for years, so when i saw the Caribou boots i fell in love with these boots, so after reading the reviews i order a half size down, I wear a 10 in boots so i order a 91/2 so when i got them they were so big, but i have to say they were so soft and comfortable and yet not to heavy, but anyway i am going to send them back and get a smaller size i will let you know what happens next.... to be continued

These are a good boot for snow, cold temperatures. They are a very heavy duty boot. They also run VERY large. I ordered my normal size 7.5 thinking that they may even be small when wearing a thick sock... in fact they were huge even with a thick sock. I would order 0.5-1 size down from what you normally wear

The good thing about these boots is, they are huge! When I wear this I am fearless in the snow. The downside about these boots is still, they are huge....and heavy, I keep another pair of sneaker in my car because I feel I won't be able to control the pedals with those boots. I would recommend these if you are going to walk outdoor when it's snow & after snow

So these are great boots, for the snow & keep your feet warm. They are definitely a clunky boot made for a lot of snow so,if you're looking for something more stylish for light snow I would go with a different Sorel boot. The sizing is off in this boot. I usually wear a size 7 in almost every shoe or boot but the 7 in these was HUGE. I ordered down a full size and they were too small. I could get my foot in the boot but my toes were squished against the front and getting the boot off was a nightmare. Ultimately I ended up getting a 6.5. The boots are still a bit roomy and I can wear very thick socks. At first I felt unsure keeping these but now in the Maine winter and with negative temperatures I've fallen in love with them!

After much research, I purchased this boot because it had great reviews for its cold weather capabilities, being both waterproof and able to keep your feet warm in cold temps. So far, I am very happy with these features. I live in the mountains of Colorado and we get a lot of snow and can definitely get cold temperatures. There's been a spell this December where our temperature stayed within the single digits and my feet (even when outside shoveling) were nice and toasty in these boots day in and day out. They're very comfortable, although a bit clunky. But that is what I expected from the reviews - these aren't dainty little boots. They're big snow boots to keep your feet warm and dry. I think they still have a cute style as far as snow boots go, but they are definitely on the heftier side.
My only complaint would be that I think they do run large (if it wasn't for that, this would be a 5 start review). I am usually between a 7-7.5 and saw on the previous reviews that they run big, so opted for the 7 for that reason. Even with the 7, they still seem too large for me. That really surprised me because I NEVER am a 6.5 shoe size. With this shoe I probably could've gotten away with a 6.5. And I even had my husband measure out my foot like Sorel recommended to make sure I purchased the right size since so many people seemed to have sizing issues with this shoe. It still wasn't accurate. Sorel needs to reevaluate their sizing of this boot, in my opinion. The 7 is too large in length and in width for me. I wasn't sure at first and thought maybe I just didn't have my thicker winter socks on, but after taking the boots out on walks and shoveling, I'm realizing (too late :( to exchange) that I would have been better off with a 6.5.
Overall, great boot, well made, lives up to what it promises with warmth and water proof, good sole with nice traction. Only issue is the sizing. If Sorel fixes that problem, they'd be the perfect winter boot!

The sizing is slightly too large, however the boot is still excellent in craftmanship and quality. I do have a problem with the boot being too good in regards to warmth. I can't wear them indoors for too long, but it will be great for the deep snow.

When I was researching these boots it seemed like half of the reviews said they were true to size and half said they were too large. I even used Sorel's measuring instructions which told me to order a size 8which is my regular size. Well.these are WAY too big. I'm super bummed. They are chunky boots as it is, and I look like a clown since they are too big. Also, it doesn't matter if you wear thick socks, because your feet go in the insert, not the actual boot. I gave them 4 stars because I love everything else about them. My advice is to size down.

I just bought these to replace a 27 year old pair of Canadian SOREL Manitou's. After waiting to find a good deal on these I went a head a bought a pair after disregarding several poor reviews on this site. I'm hoping that SOREL has made some improvements over the materials and these boots hold up as long as my old pair. I'd like to remember SOREL as the same quality outdoor company my Grandfather used. I'm pretty hard on my boot as a Police Officer and Firefighter and depend on them during the winter months. Be assured that I will update my review after a few months of use-we're getting 8-10" of snow now as I write this.

Excellent, well constructed winter boots but absolutely enormous! I'm a solid size 8 but have to return them for a 7 -not 7.5, but an actual 7- so I'm paying extra shipping which is annoying. Even with really thick socks they're falling off. They're also heavy but I'm wearing them for heavy snow conditions so that's expected.

I do wish I would have gone down a 1/2 size smaller, but once I have heavier socks on I think they will be fine. These boots are so warm and will be perfect for cold weather days!

I generally wear a size 7 in boots, but from reading the other reviews and following the sizing chart, I ordered a 6.5, it fits like an 8. I'm having issues finding a store near me as well to exchange them. The boot itself seems very nice, durable, and warm. Like it could really do a great job getting me through the tough Minnesota winter, if only I could put them to use.

I was looking for a fashionable, waterproof winter boot to wear in the snow with my kids. I normally wear an 8.5 but measured my foot according to instructions and ordered an 8. They fit perfectly. They are heavy, as other reviewers have said. These boots are not meant as an everyday fashion boot. They will keep you warm and dry and look cute doing so!

These were great for my husband to tackle New England winters. They are very heavy and warm, so not for a regular day. He's usually a 12, but the 11.5 worked.

These boots are perfect for snow, a little bulky, but not too heavy! I would recommend sizing a half or full size down, even with thick socks my regular size was too big.

I live at 10,000 ft with 6-8 months of winter and have been looking for a decent boot for while. These boots run big. I normally wear 7.5 and was told to buy a size 8 and they were huge, so I had to exchange them. I don't believe they are true to being rated to -45 degrees. Whether I'm standing or sitting ice fishing, my feet are almost always cold unless I'm constantly moving. I recently ordered the higher rated inserts and hope they help. These boots are pretty heavy compared to Muck Artic boots and other common brands. Overall, I still like them but wish they came a little warmer and were a little lighter.

Perfect ski resort winter wear. This is the Colorado mountain town local's choice winter footwear. Works for shoveling the driveway, work, and a night out on the town. You can tell who is local by what they are wearing.
The ski resort I work at stocks these in the employee company store. I just bought a new pair cause my old ones were done after three seasons. The rubber uppers just started splitting open. The soles and leather still looked new.
The size is true to fit. One can wear a pair of nice thick wool blend socks with your feet. My feet do start to get cold in them when the temp is 30 to 40 degrees below zero. It was minus 45 the other week in the Fraser Valley.
The traction is great in the snow. I add some Yak Trax for walking on ice.
I'm glad the ski resort stocks these at employee pricing. They keep your feet warm at work.
