Sorel just sent me a new pair of Caribous to replace ones that died after only two years (purchased 2010). After minimal wear and just breaking in the leather I noticed the rubber was cracking over the big toe and the entire sole was detaching. The new 2012 pair has thicker rubber around the foot (sole thickness appears to be the same), but thinner leather uppers. They are not broken in yet, but they feel "snugger" than the old pair, which is good because the old ones were not nimble enough to wear around town. They are definitely roomy enough to wear thick socks and curl your toes. It's obvious Sorel is still tinkering with this boot after moving production from Canada. There is no reason to believe these boots will last 15-20 years like they used to. These boots are certainly not worth the price. For a little more you can get a pair of Hoffmans that will last for decades.

My first pair lasted seven months and then the rubber started cracking on the bottom. Returned them to dealer for another pair, they only lasted two months and they started cracking, took them back to dealer for a refund, and now I'm done with Sorel. In my opinion very cheap material and poor quality.

After only two outings, the tabs that hold the D-rings (laces) fell off.

I bought these boots to wear on a trip to Germany in December. There was snow/slush and very cold air. My feet got wet and cold after about an hour outside. I thought my feet were wet from sweating but when I took my boots off it was obvious that water had gotten in from the outside. The wool inserts were soaked and my socks were damp. I was very disappointed since these boots claim to be waterproof.

I was so happy to get my new snow boots, put them on and they hurt and cut my feet. I hope that the warranty department will take them back. I would have been happy but they hurt so bad I can't wear them.
