These are beautiful boots, and I'm very sad to return them. I am a 7.5 in Nike's but an 8 in most heels and boots, and got these boots in a 7.5. They lifted up in the heel but were very tight around the toes and the calf was way too wide even with jeans tucked in. I got the Lindsay plate in an 8 instead and am hoping for better luck!

These are cute boots but the interior is not finished as nicely as the others. It us raw leather with no lining. I would have kept the boots if they were lined.

The reviews said these ran small. I don't agree. First I tried he 8.5. They were way too big. I ordered the 8 which was fine in the length but way too big in the heel. The leather on the size 8 was not as. Nice as the first pair. Both are going back unfortunately.

I love the look of these boots but they were just not comfortable. I ordered my regular size and they "fit" but were very tight in the toe area. I know that leather stretches and they need to break in but I didn't want to be uncomfortable while they broke in or risk them never fitting. For that price I want to be able to enjoy my boots right away! also I wanted to wear them for the winter but the bottoms are completely smooth, no treads or traction. I was afraid of slipping in the snow.

These were my first try with Frye boots and I was disappointed. Maybe I got a faulty pair, but the leather on the shaft of the boot was wrinkled and seemed like it had been damaged...maybe this was an attempt at the "distressed" look, but I found it unappealing. The leather was not smooth as it appears to be in the pictures. For the price, I really had to love them to keep them and I just didn't. I found them to be true to size and very comfortable. The foot bed has a nice amount of padding and I could tell that they would become even more comfortable over time. I have slightly narrow feet and these fit rather snug, so they may not be a good choice for gals with a wide foot.

If you have tried this and your heel moved around too much in this boot, try the Engineer 12. It's a similar style with no blister issue.

I had hoped to find a winner with these but unfortunately even with going a half size smaller, I still found that my heel moved up and down way to much for me to consider such a cute looking boot. I tried a 8.5 which I generally take in boots. I also contacted a rep from Frye to ask about the fit because my heel wouldn't have been blister free for even ten minutes. I know a lot have reported that issue. For the price I just couldn't gamble my comfort. The rep suggested going down that half size but it didn't help. My heel was still moving up and down too much. I have two pairs of cowboy boots with pull on style and I know there is movement expected. So I tried the Frye Engineer 12 and that is great! It's a bit heavier and shaft a bit stiffer than the Veronica but it was great in the heel area. I'm a fan of Frye, no doubt. I just think you have to find the right style and fit.

These were almost right...but the toe box was a little too snug in regular socks, and the top was a little too loose. It just didn't fit right on me. I did like the height and the look though.

I was just about to list these on Ebay when in a last effort I tried some shoe stretching solution. On me, with a rather high instep and wider forefoot, they were difficult to put on and put my toes to sleep in no time. But they looked great! So after wearing them all day with thick socks they seem to FINALLY be loosening up and conforming to the shape of my foot, which is what you want with a boot like this. I have always selected shoes with zero break in. So, now I know!

I can't believe these do not work! Based on other reviews I ordered up a size. I am a 7/7½ and ordered an 8. The toe box is still too small and the heel is big. I am crushed. They also "walked" awkward, sort of slapping. I have a pair of Frye Engineer that I love. I guess I will just get another pair of those.

While these boots were lovely, they had to go back. I felt I should write a review based more on the color and style, as this is what I was looking at when trying to decide between these and the Veronica Slouch. I wanted black, but the only Shorties available were the "Black Burnished Antique." Based on the photos on this website, as well as Frye's main website, I thought they would be a nice, flat black color. Was I shocked when I received them... They were navy blue, and the burnished color was almost like a white wash wax that came off in some areas, and not others. Needless to say, they were beyond hideous. I called Zappos immediately, and as always, the customer service is stellar. They exchanged my shoes for the black veronica slouch boots, and I repacked my shorties and sent them back to them. Zappos is my go-to place for my online shopping.

I so wanted to love these, but I returned them. The black, as other reviewers have noted, isn't really black. It's gray. It even looks a bit green in some lights. The style looked a bit too much like a rain boot on me and I also didn't like the contrast stitching that wraps around the forefoot and toe area. The boot fits loosely around my leg, not a complaint in itself, but the predominantly white Frye label sewn into the inside top of the boot shows a bit. I think these would look much nicer in brown. I may give them a try because this boot seemed reasonably comfortable and well made.

I have never had Frye boots or shoes fit this badly. I always wear a size 8 in this brand and others but these were much too small.
The shafts on the boots were also noticeably uneven. One was much softer and way slouchy, the other fairly stiff and much less slouchy.

I have a pair of Veronica is distressed black and they are dynamite. These are beyond slouchy in the shaft. They are like a bad pair of socks that fall down and gather around your ankle. Probably because they are suede? Not sure but getting returned. Sole of boot is great.

I would say these run small. i'm usually 7.5-8 and the 8 was tight at my toes. they r a weird fit because my heel slips out every time i tried to walk in them. most disappointing is they are not structured like they seem in the picture, and have more of a slouchy look to them. on that note they are being sent back.

I bought these in a 8.5 since some of the reviews said that they were running small. Its a hit or a miss whether I take an 8 or an 8.5 so I played it safe and went larger. While the size was okay the heel cup is too large and the body of the boot leather too soft for it to hold your foot in place. I felt that the overall foot bed size was perfect but every time I took a step my heel would slide up and hit the soft part of the leather, I don't believe sizing down would have fixed this issue. I was also a bit surprised that the leather on the body of the boot was so very soft that it would over time fall down to your ankle and not stay up near the calf. Maybe I missed something in the description but in the end these boots weren't for me so I returned them.
I will say they smelled great though.

Sadly, I had to return these boots because the top of the boot was smaller on the right boot vs the left boot. I did order another pair, and hopefully, the tops of the boots will be the same size on the second pair.

I’ve worn this boot for couple years and loved them. Ordered a new pair and not the same boot at all now they are made in Mexico! Runs small in general, narrow in the toe and wide at the heel. The buckle is cheaper than it used to be. Tried a 10, too small, no 10 1/2 so tried 11, too big. Frye, you’ve ruined a great boot!

I'm a true size 10 and bought a 10. The fit is a tight on the with. I deff need to stretch . Size was fine but when I step the boot slips off my heel making it rub all day and hurt. They are not big. There is no way I could size down. I want to like really really love these. They style I freaking love! Am I gonna keep them, of course I've already worn them to try and break in. But for the price they should be a little more comfortable I feel. Prob won't buy another pair for fear of being uncomfortable.

I wanted these boots to work so badly! I started by ordering a half size up per the previous reviews, and couldn't even get my foot close to inside this boot. Returned and ordered another half size up . . . and again could not even get my foot inside the boot. I was so desperate to make these work, I once again returned and ordered another half size up (now 1.5 sizes up from my usual size) and they were huge on me. The leather is beautiful and the boot itself appears well made, but unfortunately they didn't work for me. I am finally giving up on these boots, and my search continues. Shout out to Zappos for their amazing customer service throughout this search for the "perfect" boot.
