Great quality well made boot. Nice leather. Took a little while to break them in; at first they felt very heavy and a little clunky. Definitely need to wear a thicker sock with these. I only wish the arch support was better (flat feet and plantar fasciitis).

I loved these when I tried them on, but they instantly they felt way too big - around the heel, and the bridge of my foot, and around my leg. I ordered my typical size 8. I am truly never a 7½ - maybe until today? I returned the 8 and ordered a 7½ in hopes that they would be just right! The upper is very soft and supple, not rigid or stiff. These seem like they will be great boots for San Francisco weather - moderate all year round.

Beautiful boots. Love the color. Glorious leather smell & soft. I wear a size 8 & that is what I ordered but I feel like they may run 1/2 size large but on the other hand if went down 1/2 size may fit too narrow? Even though they could use more arch support they are comfortable. Can wear medium to heavy weight socks with them. Happy with my purchase just still guilty over cost. Happy with Zappos & their customer service fantastic!

I'm a true 6.5 and am winding up with the 6 in these. Just thought I'd write this if any of you are deciding between this and the Engineer 8R, like I was. Truth be told, I probably like the classic styling and height of the Engineer a little better than the Veronica, and made in the USA (Engineer) versus Mexico (Veronica) is an important distinction, as well. But the leather on the Engineer (that I got in my true size of 6.5) was SO stiff and rigid, I could barely get my foot in. I could try the next size up, but ultimately I felt that the Veronica was going to be more comfortable because of the slouch factor. Oh, Zappos, you enablers with your glorious fast and free shipping! I can feel like Cinderella when I order an ungodly number of Fryes to find the best fit, and then return all but one a day later. Just tell my husband not to check the credit card bill...

I absolutely love these boots but they are so hard to break in! I have had them for five months and always wear them with thick socks so my heels will not blister. Even so, I cannot wear them for long periods of time. My feet are usually very sensitive, so maybe my experience is a little bit worse than others. Still, they are gorgeous!

These were a little pricey for me but I have to say they are worth it because you will get a lifetime of use out of them. I got the brown distressed color and though they look a little worn that was the look I was going for. They do require a little break in time at least for me anyway. I wore them for about half an hour and got a tiny blisters on the back of one of my heels but I did expect that since they were going to have to form to my feet. I wore them the other day for an entire day. I did not walk around a whole lot but I do stand on my feet all day and I thought that was a good chance to get them stretched to fit my foot better. I had absolutely no blisters or anything after that nine hour day at work.They are the perfect height to wear with skinny jeans and leggings. The look is a little rustic and casual but I think they would look cute with dresses as well! I am absolutely in love my new boots. I ordered a size 9 even though I am a size 8½ because I knew I wanted to wear a sock with them and they fit perfectly. Have a little patience breaking them in. I think when I have worn them a few more times they will be perfect!

Love Zappos for their outstanding Customer service and fast fast shipping. However, upon trying on these Frye Veronica's straight out of the box...I noticed in mirror that one boot was shorter than the other. One boot was totally defective. There was also a major weird dent/fold in the shaft part of the leather. The opening like folded toward against my leg. The opening of the shorter boot would not just stay open (if that makes sense). Just was very disappointed as to these are expensive boots and should be checked for odd flaws. Luckily I have an exchange pair on the way already. Zappos is very very good at trying to make your purchase right for you and I appreciate that. Very weird how one boot was shorter than the other. Super bummer. Note: I got the brown stonewash. The color is great. Style is great. I ordered a 6 because that's what I have always worn in Frye. Fits fine. I am normally a 6-6 1/2.

Love the boots. Love the fit. Have the same boots in brown but in knee length. Have had them for 3 years and they are more comfortable now. Held up well also. As for the "shortie" look, love them in theory. When have them on with skinny jeans, I wish they were a bit shorter. Come to an awkward spot in the shin area. I listened to reviews about sizing and ordered a half size larger than I normally wear.

I've had these for about a year and wear them at least 3-4 times a week. They are incredibly comfortable, cute, and the leather is beautiful. I wear them with jeans and shorts (not much of a dress girl) and they look cute with both. I normally wear a size 9.5 in fryes but I probably should have ordered these in a 9. They seem to run very slightly large on me, which is fine most of the time because I can wear thick socks here in Chicago. My one complaint is that the top strap doesn't adjust to be any smaller. My calves are not thin, I'm a runner and I think they're average, but these just fall so low. It tends to look perfectly fine, but sometimes my pants weigh them down and I need to keep retucking. Definitely recommend these.

I had my eye on these boots for quite some time. I finally took the plunge and made the purchase. These are very cool boots. They do run about a 1/2 size larger, so I would recommend going a 1/2 size down from your usual. They have taken a few wears to break in to a comfortable fit. The leather is soft and the shaft of the boot does stay up. Overall, happy with this purchase.

So disappointed in these. For starters I ordered the slate which looks distressed in the picture but is really just dull, uniform gray. Also, the fit was terrible. The front squeezed my foot and I don't have wide feet. The heel was huge so when I walked my foot slipped and would have caused terrible blisters. I read a ton of reviews that they need some breaking in time but I'm not willing to make that gamble. So, so sad.

These boots look great. They are obviously well made and will last forever. The heel and toe areas are pretty tight and the first couple of wears resulted in huge heel blisters. It has taken some time to break them in. I suggest wearing for short amounts of time at first. Despite the blister issue, I love the look of these boots!

Loved this shoe, but painful for my foot. I have a very tall bridge/instep, and this shoe was much too low for me. No flexibility at all. I ordered a Reiker boot in the same order and it was a perfect fit for my foot.

The boots are great. My only complaint is somehow I must have bumped my foot on something and I have a U shaped tear in the toe of my boot. I am going to get it fixed at the shoe repair shop. I just don't feel like that should have happened on such high quality boots because I don't even recall kicking or scuffing my boot on anything at all and I would think something that could have torn a boot I would have remembered. Just odd. Maybe they were defective. But they are nice. Comfy and love the look and smell of the leather! I hope they don't tear anymore and last a long time.

I have these in the tall and wasn't disappointed with the short - super comfortable and cute on. The leather shaft is really soft but not floppy. Looks great with skinny jeans. My only complaint is that it does tend to run just a tad big. I always wear a 7.5 with Fryes - 7 would be too small and 7.5 there is just a little slipping in heel but toes comfortable. I wear thicker socks and it's fine. It's a problem I have with all Frye boots.

Loved the boots, they looked great and felt great size-wise, and were just edgy enough. Unfortunately, they were too tight over my instep so I had to return them. I've own a few pairs of Frye boots and have never had this problem before. I guess these just weren't meant to be!

Love the fit of the boot, but the picture of the vintage leather is misleading. It looks waxy, like well cared for old leather, but it is not. In person in comes across as old and dried out. This finish is going back.

Great boots for everyday. I have several pairs of Frye boots and they are always good quality. For me these fit true to size. The are a little "slouchy" but don't look sloppy.

I ordered this color and the dark brown, both listed as vintage soft leather. The leather was much softer in the dark brown color so this one will likely go back as I have bunions and the harder leather isn't very forgiving on them. Otherwise a darling boot, great color and fantastic service from Zappos as usual!

Rats! Some had mentioned that this ran a bit small, so I ordered a half size larger. Mistake. Now these boots in my normal size are out of stock. Aside from that, I love the way they look and I think the half size down, back to my usual size, would be just right. But for now, they have to go back while I hope to get the message that my normal size is back in stock.

I've been looking for some cute distressed short black boots and at first bought the belted harness, which had to go back because they were too narrow in the toe box area. I decided to give these a try and I'm still on the fence. First, for the price I really wish that Frye would put a nice comfy foot bed in their boots. It feels like I'm walking on a slab of wood. Second, the distressed part of the toe makes it looks like I have dirty shoes on. The distressed area of the too is just a little too distressed. Third, is it that hard for boot manufacturers to put a zipper on their boots? Even though these are okay to pull on, I feel like again, for the price they could add a zipper. I'll debate a few more days.
