I love this shoe. But regretfully, the soul does not last. In the attempt to interface rubber and leather, Cole Haan has engineered a good looking but inferior piece of footwear. I have a lot of shoes and this was my favorite for appearance. Clean, modern line but casual and classic. But within two months I was self-conscious about putting my feet up and displaying the obviously disassembling bottom of the shoe. Makes you feel like a hobo. Hahaha. But really not a laughing matter. I use them only in my gardening now. Sort of a dirt and mud slipper I can leave at the back door. Call me when they do an all leather soul on this same upper. Or all rubber soul. But not this poorly conceived hybrid.

I've logged many miles in these shoes in the past year, and I've never at any point called them comfortable. The leather just doesn't want to break in and mold to my foot. Also, the sticking on the sole wore away at the toe of both shoes so they are thinking about detaching. It's a good looking shoe, but for the price I would have expected more comfort and certainly more durability.

This is a great shoe. It fits well and is very comfortable after you break them in. Breaking them in can be a bit painful with blisters or rubbing your feet raw in places - I suggest wearing socks while you break them in.

Zappos, you made it possible for me to buy, wear and enjoy shoes that would have been beyond my budget if it had not been for your superb price discounts. I am so grateful.

Very handsome shoe. Very good customer service from Zappos to furnish me with it. I originally ordered the size I have worn all my life, and it was much too tight. I wore them -- even outside -- hoping they'd loosen up. They didn't. I called Zappos customer service. Agreeing that it might have been mis-sized, Lauren sent me a larger replacement pair immediately. Wow!

The Cole Haan Douglas penny loafer is an excellent quality shoe both materially and wear. The shoe is comfortable and looks magnificent; I'll leave it as that.

Great shoe! Very comfortable! If you think your feet are even slightly wide, then order it in "wide," which I originally failed to do. However, my good friends at Zappos immediately swapped out my original purchase for a 7.5 "wide," and I was in business! I will order another pair of these once I wear these out. I cannot say enough great things about customer service at Zappos!

Nice, casual shoe to wear with Khaki pants or jeans. Thought they might be too casual but turned out fine.

I bought these shoes as a gift for my boyfriend and he loved them! I was worried that the dark sole would be strange with the lighter leather shoe. But when they arrived, they didn't look off at all. I was deciding between the Douglas (this shoe) and another Cole Haan loafer that did not have as dark of a bottom, but sided with the Douglas based solely on cost (the other pair was almost $200) and couldn't be happier.

They look great and they come in widths which is why I switched over from the Gunnisons which were just barely too narrow. I have been wearing them several times a week and they seem to be holding up great.

This is my go-to casual business shoe. It's very comfortable once broken in, wears well, and goes with just about everything from jeans to khakis. Just replaced my old pair with a new pair and the materials and quality are very similar. One thing that has changed, they are not as broken in and pliable right out of the box as the previous pair was, but I expect they'll be just the same soon.

Comfortable shoe that fits my foot perfectly. I prefer to wear these barefoot and although many shoes result in sweaty feet, these seem to keep my feet cool and the moisture away. Great looking shoe too! I would recommend these shoes to anyone for a touch of class to any wardrobe!

Great shoe, versatile and comfortable. I bought these shoes for my husband (who does not like to shop) and he loves them.

I've owned similar style Cole Haan loafers, so I was confident these shoes would be nice. The oiled leather makes this shoe care free. Scuffs just disappear. The soles are thin, so they wear out long before the tops. Very high quality.

I bought these for my husband and ordered his usual size...too small. Had to go larger and wider. They are beautiful leather loafers.

These loafers met every expectation that my husband has of Cole Haan shoes. The leather, the color, the fit were all perfect.

I have owned this shoe for over 15 years! It ages very nicely and has developed a vintage patina. This shoe can be re-soled by any cobbler or shoe repair store. I think it cost me under $20 to have it done. I had owned these shoes almost 10 years though before having them re-soled. I highly recommend these shoes for comfort, durability, and looks. I have had many compliments on mine.
