Fit was a bit snug, but I think it was my fault: I should've ordered a half-size larger. Ditto for the width. I wear specially-fitted orthotics. I've worn the shoes for almost 3 months, and they've adjusted to my feet. I'm from an era when dress shoes must shine, and these are brilliant—I love 'em.

A nice pair of shoes. Not the most modern style, but it's a solid basic pair of shoes and lightweight to pack for travel.

Very classic but stylish and nice subtle shine to it, got a lot compliments on them at work. This color has a better cushion in it.

I have had Cole Haan Pinch Penny loafers before and really like them. This time I ordered the same size as before (9) and smaller (8 1/2), and even the smaller size felt slightly large... but still wearable. I kept those and returned the size 9 pair. Zappos is great, making orders and returns very easy.

Great shoes, except they were to narrow and not a real size 12.

For what it's worth, these are PATENT LEATHER SHOES. I contacted the official Cole Haan store and they said this description does in fact mean patent leather. They are shinier than they appear in the Zappos photos, and they are indeed straight up black patent shoes. Do not for a second think "oh, they're just a shiny, well polished leather". They are patent leather. They looked ridiculous for what my husband likes, and we sent them back. My husband wears a 10 in most shoes (not a narrow shoe) and the 10 fit him great. I'm seeing these run a little big, but on him, that worked in his favor. His regular size was correct. I think if you have a narrow foot, you might order a half size down. So had these been a regular type of buffed polished leather as stated in the description (it's obvious the brown ones are super shiny, not so much the black) we would have kept them.

Too wide

The preselected answers don't work. The shoe feels a little loose but I'm giving them a try anyway, if only because there really aren't many options and I already tried another pair. Hopefully these will work out.

These shoes fit well but did not hold up as well as the ones purchased years ago. I had them resoled in two years...

Despite replacing my first pair and going to the smallest possible size my heels still tend to walk out of the shoe. Here’s hoping it will correct itself as the shoe conforms to my foot. I did have problems returning the first pair that have not been resolved.

This shoe has changed much over the past 20 years and now feels like a cheap plastic shoe one could get at a discount department store.

The quality of the shoe was excellent. It is simply too short and too narrow. I currently have a pair of Cole-Hann loafers in the same size and they fit perfectly. The new ones I ordered do not fit. Your shipping and customer service are excellent. I plan on being a repeat customer - even though I had to return these shoes due to an improper fit.

Bought the Extra Width and did not notice any difference. Narrow shoe. Can't see buying this again.

I've had these shoes for just over a year and the are holding up just fine. Not as comfortable as I would have liked, continuing my search for the "Goldilocks" pair.

I ordered the same size shoe I've worn for the last 40 years but found these to be small, way small. I checked the markings and confirmed they were the "right" size but they're not. I made the mistake of wearing them a couple of times out and about to make sure I wasn't just imagining. It was a mistake because now the soles are scuffed and couldn't be sold as new. I'll donate the shoes to a men's shelter. It's a shame they didn't fit as they are good looking shoes and appear to be well-made. I may order these again in a couple of sizes with the intention of trying them on indoors and returning what doesn't fit.

I replaced an older pair but these seem much more inferior. I can't say if the quality of Cole Haan has diminished or if these are counterfeits? Either way they are not the same quality as the ones I've had for a few years.

They were too tight and I had to return them. I want to order a larger size but I lost my VIP discount so I am waiting for another discount to come out. I like the shoes they were just to small and tight.

A little longer than other brands I've ordered. Beautiful shoe but more like a slipper since vamp was not high enough. Had to return them.

The leather was vary hard and stiff, it was not the soft leather. Sending the shoes back.
