I found that these ran very small on me and I had to return for a larger size which was still a little snug. They are quite slimming on the rear. I don't feel they would be moveable enough when hiking or rock climbing due to the material. I like the higher rise and the extra pockets.

Love these shorts although they come up small - so order a size larger. Will definitely have them again.

This is a great pair of shorts, and I normally wear a size 12, however, it seems to be fitting me more like a size 10, so will return for one size larger.

My daughter needed these for camp and needed a secure pocket for her phone. These appear to have deep pockets but the lining on the inside of the pockets is short. You can fit a phone but just barely. If you have a larger phone it will not fit.

I Don't like them. They look good and seem to fit,until you sit down,the leg's get tight and pull. I'm returning them.

Wanted to love these - but just did not fit. Definitely shorter than 5" inseam, although may be it was just the odd fit that made them look very short.

The waist sizing on Royal Robbins pants Is not comparable to other brands I wear. The 12 was snug and as I mentioned before, most of my pants/shorts are size 8 or 10. I chose the 12 after reading reviews. (Thanks to all those who contribute to the reviews). 12, too small, 14 way too big. Using the button tab on the waistband to make it smaller doesn't work. It buckles the pant in the rear where you are trys to take it in. Because of the way the short is made with the pocket meeting the seam, the tailor can't take them in. So disappointing! I really like the features and fabric of these shorts!

Royal Robbins sizing is way off! After reading the reviews I decided to order a larger size than I normally wear. They were way too tight so I returned them for 2 sizes larger. The two sizes larger won't even stay on, they literally fall off. So, I'm going to try for the one in between. The reason I'm bothering is because of the great fabric and features of these shorts. It seems they are well made. The pockets are great and the fabric is very nice; lightweight.

The material on these shorts is great but I ordered a size 6 which had way too much material in the legs. It looked more like a skirt than shorts.

These run small. At least a size to two sizes smaller than normal. The quality is good but sizing is bad. I need to return them.

This is a mixed review because when the shorts fit and are sewn well, they are *awesome* shorts. I have never had a more perfect pair of shorts. The problem is that Royal Robbins seems to have trouble with quality control and consistency from their garment manufacturers. Depending on where the shorts were manufactured, they either fit beautifully and perform beyond expectations (they wick and stay comfortable even in 95 degree weather), or they fit terribly and look even worse. I have four pairs of these shorts. Two are taupe, were manufactured in Bangladesh, are a size 12, and fit perfectly (for comparison, I am 5'8" and 148 lbs). Two pairs are cream colored, were manufactured in Vietnam and are a size 14. Though pretty huge, with the adjustable side buttons, I can get away with wearing them (especially on hard hikes when I am looking for performance, not style). I ordered another pair in a size 12 and when they arrived, discovered they were made in Vietnam. The fit is *all wrong* and nothing like the other size 12s I have. They are huge in the waist and very tight across my butt/thighs. They look terrible. So back they go. Unfortunately, there is no way to know, when ordering online, where the shorts were manufactured, so I will not be purchasing them again. It's such a bummer, because the two pairs of size 12s I have that were manufactured in Bangladesh are awesome.

I really wanted to love these. They were (supposedly) the perfect size and I hoped they'd work perfectly for the summer. But they shrank within a few washes. They felt great at first, but they quickly became are too tight in all the wrong areas. (Woe be to those with hips and any cushion in the middle!) So bummed they didn't work out.

I wanted these for my upcoming vacation. When I tried them on they puckered in the butt area. Just didnt work for my body I guess. I returned them.

These shorts were very baggy. I prefer a slimmer fit. They were very comfortable but that’s likely because they were so roomy on me.

Love the color but not much more than that. If you are in need of a lot of pocket space you will love these shorts but material feels like it nylon bag. On a hot, muggy summer day they feel uncomfortable. They are sticking to body even though I bought 2 sizes up just to try to avoid exactly that.

These shorts are very high waisted. I know that's back in style but you must have a skinny waist to wear these. I have a bit of a post-pregnancy belly and these fit me horribly. The black nylon material felt like parachute material. I disliked pretty much everything about them, but I didn't give them 1 star because they are probably very durable if they actually fit you. I weigh 140 lbs and ordered size 8. They fit over my body but the fit was awful.

These would be great shorts, but they run terribly small in the waist. I ordered two sizes up from my regular size and they are still tight around my waist. I love the materials and all of the pockets, but I just can't bring myself to order THREE sizes up from usual!

Not for curvy figures. I usually wear a size 12 and a size 12 in this style was too tight everywhere and too short. I didn't like the curvy back pockets either. Back they go.

The fabric and comfort was good, but the leg opening was about 2" too wide, making it look unattractive. I have a small frame and wanted to use these shorts for hiking and outdoor activities while still being able to wear them in casual situations. They just did not work for me.

My God! I don't know if anything could look as hideous as these do on a human! Horrible fit!

These shorts fit great,but they seem to be irregulars. The inside seam was about an inch shorter than the outside seams.
