I love these shorts! I bought them in an outdoor store a few years ago and they are my go-to travel shorts. They don't show dirt, don't fade and don't lose their shape. Very lightweight so they don't take up much room in my bag. They are flattering in the fit and length is perfect. I wear a 12-14 but bought these in 14 and they fit well. Buttons on waist band can be adjusted if waist is too big when I lose a few inches (HA). All the pockets make it possible for me carry essentials. I was so excited to see them in black and ordered them right away. The black ones have a little bit of sheen to the fabric (no fading) and can even pass for a little dressy if I wear a tunic or longer top that covers the tops of the pockets. Recently on vacation, I wore the black ones over my bathing suit to the beach, rinsed them out on returning to the hotel, rolled them in a towel, hung them to dry on the patio chair for an hour and then wore them to a casual dinner out with a longish blouse and sandals. I would order other colors if they would make them available! I hope Royal Robbin never stops making these shorts!

Bought these shorts for a trip to Hawaii and they were perfect. Packed easily, lightweight, soft, fit well, lots of pockets. Sizing seemed true.

I bought a pair of these shorts a few years ago in tan. I was very excited to find them again in a different color. They are very comfortable to wear and durable. My old pair looks as good as the new one.

Love these shorts! This is my 3rd pair. Shorter than some, but very comfortable. They have buttons on the waistband so you can adjust the fit between 1-3" or so. Love that for those "fat" days! They wash like a dream and have great pockets, etc. Worth every penny!

I love these shorts! My 27 year old daughter even complimented them and asked where I bought them. I am an "adventure traveler" and into outdoor activities such as hiking, walking, sightseeing, gardening, etc. The fit, comfort, inseam length, color, quick dry, soft and lightweight fabric, tailoring and types of pockets, and ease of laundering are all excellent.

Fit perfectly and made very well. Would recommend them to anyone. Material is yummy and sturdy. Love them.

Nice shorts, well made. They are a quick-drying fabric and a style that's great for active lifestyles. Pros: lots of pockets, slightly larger leg openings, and a slightly longer inseam. Cons: None other than a warning that they run small. I'm usually a size 6, and in these shorts the 6 is quite snug (and the fabric doesn't stretch). However since I like them and the 8 would be too big, I am keeping them.

I love these shorts. They look super cute but are also really functional (big pockets, quick drying, durable, etc.). I love how versatile these shorts are!

These shorts are awesome! They run a bit small so I went a size higher than I do in my dress size. Even in this hot hot hot summer, they don't wrinkle, they are cool, and they wash well. I highly recommend them!

Love these shorts! No gapping in the back of waistband. Dries quickly! Buy each color!

Great fit! Lightweight, cool, comfortable and fast drying. Great for hikes where you might have a chance to get in some water.

I loved these shorts. I am a curvy girl with hips and a booty and these shorts fit excellent. The length is perfect, not to short. The waist is not to low or to big. It fits just right. I would highly recommend these shorts to anyone.

I hate shorts. I never wear them because I don't have very shapely legs and thighs. Not to mention, I have a really tough time purchasing any bottoms online, period. I have to try on everything because I typically wear a size 4 in the waist and a size 6-8 because of my booty. As a result, I wear a lot of capris. However, I'm going on a long vacation to a tropical destination so I knew I needed to purchase at least a few pairs of shorts. I was amazed when I got these in the mail. The fit is fantastic and they are extremely flattering. They hit at the perfect length - not too long and not too short (I'm 5'5" and about 130). I'm actually excited to wear a pair of shorts for the first time in years! I will also be submitting the same review for the Prana: Tess Shorts as I have the same sentiment. Get these shorts!

Most versatile shorts I own, so I now have them in 3 colors. They lay smooth without showing any figure flaws, are lightweight and cool when the weather gets hot and humid. Yet they are sturdy enough to wear hiking, gardening, anywhere they will take dirt and abuse...yet wash up like a dream and look like new. Pockets are deep enough to hold stuff securely without worry of them falling out and one pocket has a zip for extra security (key). And - they don't take up much room if you are packing for a trip- pack up much flatter than denim or twill, and are way more comfortable besides!

I'm giving a mixed review for these shorts, but I think it has more to do with how they fit me vs the shorts themselves. The RR Backcountry short is well made like all the other RR products I own, but I found the way the front and back pockets are made with long curving seams that meet up to be odd looking. Again these are quality shorts and the pockets are large so they might work for others. As far as size, I'm 5'4'', 130 lbs and the medium was a nice loose fit.

Fit was a little weird. Nice color and quality. Style is not very slimming. However, these have held up for numerous hiking trips!

Well made. A little long for my short legs. I’m 5’3”.

This is a good short that fits a woman's figure in all the right places. I think it does run a bit snug, but not as small as my Columbia shorts. This is a better fit size wise and more comparable to how a pair of jeans will fit, so if you like a snug jean order your size and if you like a roomier size, order one size up. It has a nice assortment of pockets to stash everything while active. I just wish it came in more colors!

Comfortable, utilitarian, roomy in my size, too short in next size down. Not as attractive on me as I'd hoped, but I'll keep them because they are very cool in the tropical heat where I live.

These fit well - I'm 5'6" and typically wear a size 6, which I ordered in these. The buttons on the waist could be drawn in and the crotch sagged in the front. I have a shorter rise/waist. Great outdoor material, felt light and comfy, would dry quickly. Style constructed enough for adding nice top and accessories to dress up as needed if traveling.

These are a nice, lightweight shorts, suitable for active outdoors wear. Pocket zippers keep your things safe and wide legs give you room to move. But, I had to reorder these in a larger size than I normally wear. The fabric has absolutely no give, and for hiking, I wanted comfortably loose.

Usually a 12 fits me perfectly but these were uncomfortably small. I could wear them standing up but sitting down - no. The inseam does seem short, too! Otherwise there are lots of great pockets just as I was looking for. I will exchange them for a 14.
