AMAZING - These boots are awesome, they are even better in person. They were a little uncomfortable for one day, then they softened and I love them! So so sooo happy that I spent the money. All I would say is that I usually wear a 6.5, so I ordered a 6.5 and 7 and ended up with the 7. I think the 6.5 would have worked; I just wanted them a little looser.

Thank you Zappos! Wow - Zappos is amazing. I ordered these boots on Monday and got them the very next day! Talk about your FAST delivery service! Won't shop anywhere else now. Love Zappos and love these boots. They're so comfy, cozy, and stylish! In Winter, it's cold and snowy in Bend. These boots will keep my feet dry and toasty! I'm so happy I found a replacement for my leather Uggs! I highly recommend purchasing these boots (I'm a size 6, but I got a 6.5 after reading the reviews, and it worked out great.) I agree with everyone else, they're worth the price tag! BUY THESE BOOTS NOW....TRULY, YOU WON'T BE SORRY! (you can thank me later, tee hee)

Cute Boots! I love these boots! Pros: beautiful thick & sturdy leather, sturdy sole, adjustable buckles, well made in the USA, fun with skirts and jeans, warm, receive many compliments. I believe these will last a very long time! Cons: the thick leather makes them stiff and difficult to put on although they loosen up after wearing, they are a bit heavy. I intentionally waited after a couple weeks of wearing to comment on the comfort. They are great, but slip a bit on the heel, even with the bottom buckle tightened. I might have done better with a half size smaller, but I think they will be fine with inserts. I just ordered another pair of Fryes today! Zappos customer service? THE BEST EVER!

Love these - These boots look great with everything - especially skirts and dresses. They are pretty comfortable...a little snug in the insole perhaps (depending on the thickness of the sock), and a little stiff initially, but I anticipate that they will only get softer and more comfortable with time. I get compliments on them all the time.

Maybe the 12R, to wear with pants.

Great boots - I'm a size five and got a half size bigger. With thick socks and skinny jeans they fit perfectly. Like any shoe they had to be broken in. Now I wear them all the time. The adjustable buckles really help keep them on my feet too.

HOTTTT!!! If you are lusting after these boots like I was: GET THEM! I love Frye and have been wearing the Harness for several years. The Harness style is narrow in the toe box, surprisingly, so is the Engineer. Order at least a half size up. They're worth every penny.

Great shoes - These shoes are great. You will know when you see it. These shoes are built to last: thick leather, great craftsmanship. There is a down side. The thick leather requires more break-in time, but it is worth it. This is why I gave a 4 for comfort. I have small and thin feet. I normally wear a 6 or even 5.5 sometimes (sketcher), and I ordered a 6.5 after reading other reviews. It fits. But if you want to wear thick socks with it during winter, I recommend ordering 1 size up at least. It does require some effort taking the shoe off, but it is not as difficult as some reviewer said. Again, after you break into it, everything becomes a little easier. For shoe lovers, like me, and for whom these shoes are a little out of budget, like me, I recommend getting the shoes when you can't decide whether to go for the money or for the shoes, because I love the warmth, I love the looks, and I love to wear kick ass boots.

Great boots - These are very comfortable boots. The tall Engineer are easier to get on than the shorter ones (I have both). These look cool with skirts as well as jeans. Very sturdy. Zappos has awesome delivery. Very happy with these boots!!!

I wanted to love these boots...I tried to love these boots...but I couldn't. They're going back. The leather is gorgeous and supple, the color and styling are both beautiful. However, they are very wide in the ankle and narrow at the top. If I had skinny calves, I think they would look much better. I have never considered my calves wide and haven't had trouble with other boots, but these are just too tight and as a result, they fit oddly. So bummed! Onto the next pair...

These boots are absolutely beautiful. They're quite hard to get on, but with some effort, they go on, and they seem to be getting better the more I wear them. They're pretty stiff when you first start wearing them, but it seems like they're already breaking in. They do rub a little on the top of my foot, but I think that's more about my foot than the boot. Overall, I'm very happy with my first pair of Fryes, and I can't wait to get more!

I wanted to love these so much. Such solid construction, you can tell they would last forever! They just didn't fit for me; I typically wear a 6.5/7 in all types of footwear, so I ordered both. The 6.5 fit my foot, but was so tight above the top of my foot I'm surprised I didn't have a bruise when I took them off. I also guess I have muscular calves, because they immediately slouched as they couldn't be pulled any higher up my leg (for reference, my calf is about 15" around at the widest point). Google searches seem divided; some said they'd stretch to be perfect, others said they wouldn't at all (my mom, who wore Fryes through college, said hers never did). Too expensive to take the risk though...back on the boot hunt! I think these would be perfect if you have a much more delicate leg frame.

Ordered a size 9 which is what I wear in the campus frye but returned for a 9.5. The leather is stiff and they are difficult to get on and off but I am hoping this will improve in time because they are beautiful boots!! They do slightly rub on the side of my ankle which I am also hoping will improve as the leather softens.

Wanted to love these. I already have the 8R and 12R shearling boots by Frye. I figured these would be super cute this spring with shorts and skirts. Unfortunately they're ridiculously baggy around the ankles. I think the problem is that they are tight around my calves (fairly athletic) and since they can't really be pulled up all the way, it scrunches around the ankle. I'm not a big girl, vary between a size 6 and 8 depending on brands, and have three other pairs of Frye knee high boots that fit fine. I was surprised to find these were tight. I'm wondering if maybe I just got a dud and should exchange for the same size? Or perhaps take them to a cobbler and see if they can stretch the calf by half an inch. Overall thought the leather is beautiful, lives up to my expectations, fits well in the foot.

I am quite firmly a 9, but these were a little too small on me, a 9 1/2 would have been more comfortable if I wanted to wear a heavier sock with them. The leather is very thick and I have narrow heels; I could tell the breaking in process was going to be atrocious and painful. I also have shapely muscular calves. While these fit okay, they were a smidgen tight. I'm sure it would have stretched out eventually but I would rather spend all this money on boots that felt good right away, so sadly I sent them back and got Earth Hype instead.

Don\'t give up on these boots if there are a few sore spots at first! Wear them around the house a little bit each day and they will soon form to your feet. Mine took about two weeks of wearing for 30 minutes a day. They are now as comfortable as my running shoes...but much more stylish!

love these boots. They are heavy, but very well made. I get lots of compliments. I tried these in 2 sizes and in 2 different styles. These are true to size. They took a few days to break in. Now I wear them daily.

Cool looking boots even in a size 10 (not too bulky or manly looking). Both the black and gaucho (my favorite) look great. Boots seem well made with sturdy, thick, supple leather. Problem is getting them on, just like many others reported. Thought I'd give them a try anyway. Tried 4 pairs of size 10 (fit true to size). Was able to get left boot on (with minimal effort) in two pairs. Getting the right boot on (in all 4 pairs) was either impossible, very painful, or I felt I was going to die of a heart attack trying. Too bad, would have made a great boot for Montana winters. Went with the Harness 15 instead.

Just got em'! I have to give a shout-out to Zappos>>you guys are amazing!! Its like be treating like a A-list celebrity>)I love the customer service and the quality of service I experienced each time I purchase @ your site. I also appreciate you guys expanding your scope of products offered on the site as well! Keep up the great work, Zappos! Now, for the boots....Let me first say, I wasn't completely sold on these boots; but there is something about the masculine/feminine dichotomy & ornate details..can dress it up or dress down. I just put them on and was pleasantly surprised. Very stylish...cant wait for Fall to makes it arrival so I can break these bad boys out & pair it with a pencil denim skirt and knee thick socks/tights or skinny jeans ... so if you have doubts, just buy and see for your self...its worth the price...its an investment for your wardrobe...

I tried them on in the store and the 8.5 (my average size) fit me just fine. The store had run out of my size in brown so I ordered online. Between my boyfriend and I, we could not get the left boot on my foot. Tried everything, short of breaking all the bones in my foot and shoving the boots on before the swelling kicked in. After a quick and easy return, I got the half size up. Now, the left fits fine but the heel of the right slips. I put extra soles in and still, with the slippage, my gait looks like Judd Nelson from the Breakfast Club. So, now I wear an ankle sock under my longer sock on my right foot. If I could do it again, I'd have taken the original 8.5's to a cobbler/shoe repair person and have them stretch the boot shaft a little until my left foot could slip in comfortably. But I'm lazy + impatient and didn't want to return the 9's for the 8.5's again. Now for what you really want to know: Yes, the boots are sexy without being delicate, sort of in a 'hurry up and kiss me before I kick your butt' kind of way. I like the foot portion better than the Frye Slouch. The comparable Slouch looked prim in person. I get compliments on them all the time. And yes, when you can finally get the fit worked out, they are super comfortable.

My first Fryes! Based on other reviews, I thought the size 10s might be too small (I have long, narrow feet and sometimes have trouble with 10Bs). But they were perfect-- if anything, a little roomy. They've barely needed any breaking in, and they look and feel great. In general, I prefer boots that nip in more at the ankle, but these have a blockier style, which is fine. Here's hoping they last a while!

I love these boots. I'm a true 6 and bought a 6. The boots were a little tough to pull on at first but now that I've broken them in they're fine. A tip I learned from my mom was to cut the feet off pantyhose and slip them over my socks so that it's easier to pull on unbroken in boots.

Great looking and surprisingly comfortable. They seemed to run about a half size small and very wide, especially at the heel. Nothing the right socks cannot fix. Very pleased.

I loved these boots online and decided to take the splurge. I found the leather to be kind of "plasticy" and the vamp was too small for my size 11 foot.

I was so excited to get these, but ended up being disappointed. The right boot was too big, and the left was snug/perfect. Also, as a previous reviewer stated, along the top of the sole, at the heel, it looks as though someone was using a razor or knife to remove material, but where the transition should be it was jagged. On one there was a thread sticking out from under the upper, where it connected to the sole at that transition, through what appeared to be a gap caused by the poor transition. Wanted to love these boots, but for that much money they needed to be perfect and they weren't. If you look carefully at the heel in the picture you can see what I'm talking about. So it seems as though it was intentional but it doesn't look very good and is much more obvious in person.
