Overall good shoe for kids. Great for getting wet. I wash them down with the hose. Great sturdy sole with traction.

Very sturdy and they seem comfortable for our son - not the most stylish but definitely practical

Good for a child’s shoe. However, my son has narrow feet and these are quite wide. Wider than typical shoes, in my opinion. The draw string helps, but it has to be pulled so tight, the excess is flopping around. My son tucks the string into the other strings, so it’s not a huge problem.

My son needed a size larger than he usually wears. They also need to be broken in which he isn’t fond of. He developed a blister on his arch from the material and will only wear them with socks now. The shoe is made well and very versatile. I’m hoping he gives them another shot. He can only wear rain boots for so long..

Heavy clunky shoe and not very comfortable / opted for a lighter keen style

I would give this pair five stars but they are a little difficult for a youngster to put on by themselves. If they had a back strap it would be easier. But my son loves them because they're camouflage and comfortable.

These are great little shoes and they'll definitely last longer than it'll take for my son to grow out of them. He's worn them all summer and they're dirty but still seem brand new. I only have one issue with them, which apparently everyone does. These shoes make my son's feet stink awful!!!! They didn't at first, it was a few months into it. I really don't know what they could do to change it but yeah, it's bad!! I have to wash them and see if it makes a difference!

I love Keen shoes. They are just about all that our four year old has worn since he was 18 months old. And we loved the two color look of this style. We bought both red/black and blue/black. Our only problem with this style is the way that the strap attaches to the Velcro. The strap is not long enough to go over my son's foot, thru the loop and back again to the Velcro. We have to pull it quite tight to get it to the Velcro. I will stick to the style that has a strap that just goes over one time. If your son has small/long feet then these will probably be great shoes.

As a physical therapist Mom, I am very picky about making sure shoes fit my son's foot properly. These are the only shoes that don't slip off my son's narrow and slim foot. His foot still has more room to move around than I would like, but I've never been able to find a shoe that actually fits his foot perfectly. My biggest complaint is that the sole is way too rigid for a 3 year old. Shoes at this age should be more flexible. I wish Pedipeds fit his foot, since they are nice and flexible, but the Pediped fit is way too sloppy on my son, way too roomy of a shoe.
I'd also recommend:

These shoes are great for my 6-year old son. They hold up really well during active summers - they are water-resistant, have a good grip, and they are washable. The only downside is that they get pretty smelly after a couple of weeks (which is why it's great that they are so washable).

I've ordered Keen's for my two children since they turned two. They are great for the summer time, especially when daycare or pre-school wants kids to wear footwear that won't slide of easily. Durable product and can get thrown in the laundry to get cleaned. My son has a wide foot so I purchased a size bigger to allow for his little cankle to fit more easily.

These fit a bit wider & longer than other size 8's I've ordered. They are just a bit heavier as well...but the sides come up higher around his foot to keep debris out as well. I like these. The ankle is a bit higher as well, which didn't work out well for my son's chubby little feet.

NEWPORT H2 VS SEACAMP I was debating between the Newport H2 and the new Seacamp for my almost-three-year-old. He's worn Newports in previous years and we've been pretty happy with them. I went to a local store this morning and tried them both on my toddler in sizes 9, 10, and 11 and found some definite differences: ~The Newport is quite a bit more bulky than the Seacamp. The Newport has a thicker rubber sole that is more rigid than the Seacamp sole (the Seacamp sole is very flexible-- similar to our favorite Pedipeds). ~The rubber toeguard on the Newport is bigger and covers more of the toe. This made a difference in the appropriate size for my toddler. In the Newports I would have gotten a size 10 (we like a little growing room and seemed to need extra room to maneuver his foot in there) but definitely needed a size 9 in the Seacamp (the 10s were huge). More of the toes are visible through the webbing of the Seaport compared with the Newport and this made a difference in the fit. ~The spaces between the webbing are quite a bit larger in the Seacamp than in the Newport. I like this because it allows more airflow and I'm hoping it will cut down on the odor that we've experienced with Newports in the past. On the flip side, it does seem like the Newports would do a better job keeping out little rocks and mulch. Both are washable, comfortable, and sturdy enough to last all season long... which is why we buy Keens in the first place. After having my little guy run and jump around the shoe department in both pairs, the Seacamps were the definite winner for us. My little guy had a more natural gate and seemed less encumbered. The store had a very limited color selection, though, so I came right home and ordered them. Happy shoe hunting! Note on infant size Keens: I would have loved to also buy a pair of Seacamps for my one-year-old, but they aren't available in infant sizes. It turns out, though, that the infant version of the Newport H2 has a lighter sole and is more flexible than the toddler and youth versions... it is more like the Seacamp than the traditional Newports and worked well for my littlest guy.

These are great shoes, but I can't understand why there aren't more complaints about how bad they STINK. Just 2 minutes in them and my son's feet smell awful. And yes, it is only with these shoes that this happens. I have bought them the past two summers because otherwise they are great but I even hesitate to send my son to school in them w/o socks because of it. Keen, please help!

My 5 yr.old son has very big feet, so I ordered both a size 13 AND a size 1, hoping one of them would be just right. Unfortunately, I had to return BOTH pairs, as the shoe is simply too wide for a kid with a narrow foot. I must agree with other reviews to the same effect. Nice sandal, though- and I wish it worked out for us. Even with the numerous adjustable straps, the sandal was just a bit cumbersome on the foot. It's VERY hard to find a closed toe sandal in sizes beyond infant/toddler.

These sandals are nice but they are rubbing my son's feet a bit. So he is bit skeptical in using them! Must be a sizing issue as his last pair was the same kind and he loved those! He has chubby wide feet and these shoes work well for him! Keen never worked for me as I have very narrow feet.

I bought these for my 5 and 4 year old boys for summer camp activities. They can go in the water, mud and sand with these. Recently went on several long hikes with these on and these shoes were excellent. My boys both did not get any blisters with these which I was worried about. They are as good as my own Keens!

Nice shoes, takes too long to dry -
Really cute comfy shoe - but takes a long time to dry! For being a water shoe, it really soaks up the water. I would only use it in dry weather... in the sprinkler we’d rather use Crocs.

Good shoe but takes too long to dry -
We live in an apartment in Brooklyn, NY, and my 2-year-old son often plays in a large sprinkler/fountain area at the playground behind our building. I bought these shoes so he could run in the water with his feet protected and still have the option to run down to the slides or over to the garden if he got tired of being in the water. These shoes are good for that, but unfortunately, they take too long to dry at home. They get wet in the morning, and are still not dry after his nap in the afternoon. I suppose they would dry quicker if I had a sunny back porch to leave them on, but alas, that is not the case. Otherwise, they seem to be a good, solid supportive shoe and he doesn't mind wearing them. I do find them a little difficult to get on, especially when they're wet. They are, however, very popular in our neighborhood, and it seems like at least half the kids around here have a pair.

We love Keens. They are sturdy and great for any water activity. My son wears them at the in the back yard, at the beach, and splash pad constantly. However, the recent price increase makes me second guess whether I will continue to purchase them or look for another alternative. I understand that everything is getting more expensive with all that is going on right now, but $65 for toddler shoes is a quite steep even for a quality item. He hasn’t worn them outside yet, as I am still on the fence as to whether I will keep or return them.

I ordered a size 8 for my 3-year-old son. The length was good for him, however we had a great amount of difficulty getting his foot into the shoe and then he complained about pain at the point where the shoe hit his Achilles tendon. I believe his foot is too tall for the sandal, given that it comes up quite high on the foot, and so we are returning them.

Mom and son will will agree to disagree on these shoes. He LOVES them and would wear them every day if I would let him. He has never had an issue with smelly feet till these came along. OMG the smell reminds of the smell of the dump on a 100+ day. When I picked my son up from camp one day I had to pull over to find the smell. I found baking soda helped and leaving them in the sun too. No blisters and got him everywhere this summer!!!

We love Keen sandals... my 3 year old son had the 'Toddler' Newports last year but this year we ended up with the 'Toddler/Little Kid' version because of the sizing change and they are SO much harder to get on his feet! Once they are on they fit great and he loves them, but it's too much work to try to get his feet into them and he cannot put them on himself. Sadly, we will be looking for a different kind of sandal next summer.
