I love the way these shoes look but they were killing me so I ordered a half size larger and they are still killing me. They cut right into a nerve or something on my foot - maybe it's where I'm starting to get a bunion. Regardless I can't wear these for very long. Too bad because they are super cute.

These are the best! A truly classic ballet flat. Endlessly versatile, they look great with almost any outfit. Once they mold to your foot they are so comfortable and well made. They last years! Love them!

I absolutely love these. They provide no support, but they are still comfortable enough. I might see if I can somehow find an insert that would work here. I normally wear an 8½W and the 10 in these shoes fits perfectly. I want more colors!

I have been searching for a cute, basic black flat. These are very cute and perfect with jeans. They were snug when first received, so snug in fact that I thought they might not work but true to the other reviews they eased quickly. I would say that if they are not tight when you first get them then they are too big. The stretching is substantial.

Love these shoes! feels like your barefoot. I do hair so am on my feet all day. I have to wear insoles due to heel pain so I wear insoles sometimes. I'll get a half size up to accommodate next time but they are true to size. Definite quality workmanship.

These run small, which seems to be by design. I think they would have stretched out if I'd been able to wear them long enough. Unfortunately, the top edge was extremely tight - painfully so. I'd have gone up half a size, but at size 12 I'm out of options. Too bad, because otherwise they're very nice shoes and would make a great choice for travel - when you need a pair of dress shoes that don't take much space in your luggage.

First, I have a heel injury that compounds my long standing wretched knee (Soccer and Skiing) that with the wrong pair of shoes can render me unable to walk without a cane. I hesitated buying these shoes because of the lack of arch support. That said... I read the reviews and debated going up half a size as some recommended. I decided to order these shoes (Red Suede) in my regular size (9) and wear them around the house for a bit to see how they felt. That was about 2 weeks ago - the only time I'm not wearing these shoes is when I'm at the gym or I'm working in the garden. This weekend I packed them on my motorcycle and switched out of my boots the moment I got off the bike. I love them!! I've worn them with sock liners the entire time, they have stretched a bit but the fit hasn't suffered, if anything they are grow more comfortable each time I slip them on. The lack of arch support is actually a plus, it really does feel like I'm walking around in my bare feet. I'm back to order them in the Leopard Suede.

The French Sole Sloop is very inconsistent in it's sizing. I have this shoe in three colors and each pair fits very differently. Each of the three pairs I own is a different size; 6, 6.5, 7! Love the shoe, but very poor quality control.

I love these flats. These are my third pair from this brand. They hold up pretty well and they are pretty comfortable. Also, a big thing for me is that they are made with real leather inside and out. No man made materials! They do run a little small so I'd recommend ordering a half-size up. They will stretch and become perfect within 2-3 wearings. This is by far my favorite brand for flats.

These were too small- and it's my normal size. The nines fit but though they are ok I don't understand all the hype. They will hopefully get more comfortable across the vamp. For the price I'd prefer my Frye's.

I have been wearing these shoes for 3 or 4 years and have them in a lot of colors. I know they are the same size shoe I wear in the more expensive shoe. I wear them with everything like jeans, dresses and skirts and they are they only shoe I can wear for hours and not having my feet hurt. My grand-daughter loves them also and she has talked me out of several pair so I am going to order 2 more pairs today. I have certainly gotten my monies worth.

Still on the fence about these. They feel a little tight, but someone said that they loosen up. I may keep them. I'm going to get the black pair next.

I bought these true to my size and as mentioned by others they are kind of tight. I having been walking around the house with large wool socks on trying to break them in. They look really great and I hope they become the great broken in shoe that folks say they will be esp for the price. They are great material. And the color is great. I am just worried that I may have committed to shoes that are a touch to small and now I have broken them in beyond return...

Love these shoes, a bit tight at first but after wearing them a few times they fit like a glove, like ballet shoes. The leather is very soft and they look great.

I really like French Sole Sloop and have several colors colors in both suede and smooth leather. These seemed a little shorter than my other pairs at first. But I remember reading another review that said to think of them as ballet slippers that stretch and mold to your feet. And they did, of course. They are so comfortable, especially if you enjoy some sensation of the surface you are walking on. I suppose if you need arch supports, or cushioning, they would not be a good choice. But I am 65 and like the stylish and classy minimalism of this flat shoe.

I am not going to mark down an item just because of a particular foot problem I have. I've noticed other reviews do that and think it unfair to the reason we review. However, I should have known better than to order a shoe with NO cushioning in the foot bed. But, they seemed such a good choice for the type of slipper I am looking for. In other words, not our typical slipper looking slipper. These would have been good had there been any cushioning in the sole and I knew that going in to the purchase! Dumb but hopeful? The 7 1/2, my normal size was too small. As another reviewer commented so very wonderfully, the shoe will conform to your foot. Well, there was WAY too much to conform to on my regular 7 1/2 size. The 8 however would have been workable had I wanted to wear pads, like Dr. Scholl's double cushioned pads. But, alas I did not as I will be in a place with several other people and if I take them off, which I will, the ugly pad is there for all to see. Sort of ruins the overall image, at least I think it - the pads - do. BUT for someone not needing cushioning they are great and should be very comfortable and do not look like your grandma's or grandpa's slippers. I really did like them and really tried.

Very cute, very comfortable. Originally I bought a full size small, as most of the reviews here suggested - but for whatever reason, I actually needed my real size in these. I couldn't even get the smaller ones on my feet. My real size has continued to fit perfectly well as I continue to wear the shoes. They're not as appropriate for dressy occasions as the average ballet flat, but they still add some polish to a casual outfit. Wound up buying them in both the black and silver - a great shoe.

I returned this item twice between it was too small for me! I'm normally a 9 and it seems like the 10.

This is very nice flat, made with lovely quality leather, but it runs SO SMALL. I knew it would stretch out, so I kept the half size larger than my regular, but after a couple of weeks, it's JUST starting to fit properly. That's kind of a long break-in period. But the leather is soft, the shoe is simple and well-made, and I'm still happy with the purchase.

This is my fifth pair of French Sole Sloop ballet flats in past four months and I will order more as other colors become available. On advice from other customers, I ordered regular shoe size. My experience has been that black patent leather definitely stretches with normal wear; the suede colors not so much. All are comfortable and really fun to wear!

I love these but they don't work for my feet. I read the reviews carefully, and ordered half a size larger since my feet are a normal width. The shoes were the right size, but they cut across the big toe joint, causing deep red marks (and eventually blisters if I'd worn them longer). My toes were a little jammed in the toe box, but I think that would have stretched out. I have super high arches, and my second toe is longer than my big toe (Morton's toe). I use a metatarsal pad insert to help balance my step across all metatarsal bones. The shoes were high enough around the heel that I could easily wear that metatarsal pad insert (also an arch support). Finally, I walk heavy on my heels, and this shoe probably didn't have enough cushion there. If you don't have any of these "conditions," I think you will love this flat. Order them 1/2 size up (unless you have narrow feet) - they are super soft and will stretch. I hate to give them up - so cute! - but will have to look something else to suit my feet!

Comfortable and look good! The shoes felt "tight" the first couple times I wore them -- but they do stretch quickly. I bought these to alleviate some toe pain and they were the perfect solution. There is plenty of room in the toe box and yet they have some style. I'm probably going to buy more in different colors. They have very little support and not a very substantial sole -- but very soft.

These shoes are wonderful! Like a ballet slipper they will stretch. I ordered by true size and they were snug at first. By the end of the first day of wearing they were perfect. I ordered the bronze metallic which is a perfect neutral color--not too shiny.

I read all the reviews closely trying to figure out sizing, and I still had to order and return twice to get the right size! (Thanks Zappos, you make it so easy). I normally wear an 8, sometimes an 8 1/2. I couldn't get my foot into the 8. With the 8 1/2 my toe was right at the end. No matter how much they stretched I didn't think they would be comfortable. The 9 fits nicely. Still snug but I think it will give and be perfect. I got the silver/pewter color and love them. There's not a lot of cushioning in the sole so probably not great for much walking but stylish enough to wear with skirts, pants and jeans.
