On to the mountains with these great boots. My husband's third pair Keen even replaced his most current pair when a 2 inch rip appeared. Luckily we were 10 days from the one year warranty. A sure purchase.

My old hiking boots wore out and I purchase the Keen Targhee II Mid for a backpacking trip along the Washington State coastline in Olympic National Park (Third Beach at La Push south to Oil City). Three days of backpacking with a full pack on lot of varied terrain. Walked long stretches of dry and wet sand beaches, tide-pools, and rocks; scrambled boulders with barnacles, seaweed, and slime; climbed over, under and balance beam style drift wood; ascended and descended steep muddy, dry and root covered forest trails and cliff faces to and from the beach; climbed wood and rope ladders, tree trunk stairs and plank bridges; and scaled steep slick cliff faces assisted by a rope. I'd previously owned Keen closed-toe sandle style shoes (used them as my only pair of shoes to travel around the world for 11 months with my young children 10 years ago - those Keens were great too!) and the slide in clog style Keens and love how comfortable they always are to wear. So I bought these Keen Targhee II Mid hiking boots and they did not disappoint on my first trip out with them. I wear size 11 and have fairly wide feet. I read the review about these boots running a 1/2 size small so purchased two pairs: 11.5 D and 11.5 EE. The pair 11.5 D fit like a glove and kept my feet, body and back comfortable for three straight days of 7 hours a day of backpacking. So far, I'm impressed. Cheers, Mike PS: I very rarely write a review (like this might only be the second one I've ever written). I've had a very good experience with Keen shoes. Excellent products.

I normally wear a 10 wide. The suggested from the website was to go up a half size which I did. Have been wearing them for two weeks now and they are perfect. I usually get a year out of my Keens with daily wear and I hope these last the same.

Excellent boots! I have been through many years in which I could not find a suitable light, comfortable boot. I have had a few past favorites such as New Balance but the comfortable boots have been discontinued, replaced with boots that hurt my feet less than a minute after being put on. For those of you looking at how well they wear, I walk about 2,500 miles per year, a great deal of walking. These boots actually lasted six months before I started thinking about replacing them, which is about 1,250 miles of walking (mostly on sidewalks and asphalt streets). That is actually very good. What has worn out, and I can't get shoe repair places to fix, is the material on the sole and heel. The shoe itself is still good and comfortable. This was my second pair of Targhee II boots, and the next one, already being shipped, is another Targhee II, hopefully true to the same last. Based on my experience, you can't go wrong with these. They provide comfort for the feet and the support you'll want for light hiking. Another point to note about these boots is the mechanism for tightening the laces. These are much easier to tighten, meaning it takes less time and stress on your fingers. While I'm not going to produce a video showing you the operation, I think you'll be as pleased as I am with this, wondering why it isn't used for tying the laces on all boots.
I'd also recommend:
None at the moment. Targhee II is the only light hiking boot in which my feet feel comfortable.

I find these shoes very comfortable each pair seems to last me about 9 months. I am on my feet all day and when I get home I walk my dog about 2 miles. I am very happy with Keen and Zappos

did not get size I ordered. I need a EE not a wide. this is the second order now that this has been done. when I order you say you have an EE in that size, but you send me a wide. you carry EE because I have bought my keen work boots at store in town in EE. do not substitute order size wide and EE are two different sizes. ill shop elsewhere cause you cant get it right.

Heard about and have seen folks wearing KEEN for quite a while. Decided to take the plunge and went for the Targhee II Mids for hiking. Man, these are incredibly comfortable shoes! Out of the box, these boots felt like they were made for my foot (after reading reviews I ordered 1/2 size larger than normal) and felt like they were already broken-in for me! First hike was through some hard-packed dirt which lead to some muddy trails. On the hard-pack, the boots cushioned well and were comfortable to walk in (we did about 1 mile [1.6km] on the hard-pack). We then turned-off to the trails to see how they faired in the mud. They did very well! No issues climbing or descending down the trails; no issues walking over rocks/flat areas with muddy treads. We did approximately 1 mile/1.6km in the dirt trails. We finished the hike on a paved walking/running/biking trail (about 300-350 meters) and again the boots were extremely comfortable. The hike was cut short as it was super cold and my daughter wanted to get back home (she was wearing her new KEEN Targhee II Mids too!!!)... Clean-up was a little long; used a couple of twigs to clean out the channels on the soles. When we got home we used the garden hose and a spray nozzle to finish cleaning the boots. We will be out again tomorrow for some hiking and planning more before the Christmas break is over. Bottom line: Outstanding comfort; Even the "D" width is pretty wide; Order 1/2 size larger than normal; Excellent performance on all sorts of trails. Also great for walking in the neighborhood, around the mall, or anywhere your heart desires! VIDEO: Attached is a quick video I took on the hike with my new GoPro camera and was still fiddling around with the settings and using the auto-movie maker QUIK. There's a quick part of the video with my daughters' KEEN Targhee II Mids shown (the color is Raven/Opaline).

Finally the correct size for my feet. I have spent the whole Holiday trying to get a Targhee Boot to fit. I have worn Keen's for years & always ordered the same size.....not this year. I went from a Men's 10 med width to an 11 wide!!! Am I alone in this experience?

The shoe is a pleasure to wear, light and easy to lace; the size was very true to my size and have received many compliments from others. During the past weekend, it performed extremely well in the snow, with sure gripping and not getting wet at all.

I am a female with a low-volume foot that is thin at the heel and somewhat wide through the ball/toe area, and I need a stable shoe with strong arch support. I decided to venture into men's hiking boots after having to send back half a dozen failed options in women's, and I'm glad I did. These boots in a men's 8.5 (they run about 1/2 size small) fits my women's 9 foot very well, although I did have to replace the original Keen insole with a Vionic insole for more aggressive arch support. This boot has nice cushioning around the ankle; nothing pinches even when navigating rough terrain. It's a sturdy boot, but not overly stiff. These men's shoes do look a bit "clownish" on my lady feet, but honestly not that much more than the women's Keens I tried before venturing into the men's department... but enough so that I would feel self-conscious wearing shorts with these boots, though.

I'm a female, women's size 12. I was worried any women's hiking boots would be too small and narrow for my feet so I went for the men's. I purchased size 10.5 with medium width and they fit perfectly. Wide enough at the toe for me. These are somewhat heavy for me but worthwhile because of the grip and waterproof protection. No breaking in needed, no blisters on my first wear. These have come on several hikes with me now and I'm very happy with my purchase.

I live in a city that is really cold and gets a moderate amount of snow during winter. My feet are always warm, comfortable and dry in these boots. I've worn out two pairs in the last few years from walking a lot and will definitely be buying another pair to replace them.

Best boots I've ever owned. Light, comfortable and kept me dry through 7 days in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in Ely, MN. Have been putting them through hell the last week, digging and tearing out sod to create landscape beds as well! Holding up strong.

I put over 6000 miles on three pairs of the low-rise targhee II. Decided to try the mid and love them even more for the ankle support on rocky terrain. These are the most comfortable walking shoes I've ever owned. Sadly, they do wear out eventually, but every new pair fits just as well as the first. No break-in period needed.

Love my Keens! I had a pair of the original Targhee Mids, which finally died after many years of abuse and I am looking forward to getting many comfortable, supportive, durable years out of these.

Great boot, comfortable for everyday use. Great support, water protection, and traction. You can even get by in these with jeans. Only complaint is they get a bit warm even when wearing tube socks.

I ordered these shoes one year ago today. I ordered them in anticipation of an upcoming hike in Dec. I wanted to get them and break them in before the hike. To my surprise there was no break-in time. They have been a great all-around shoe for hiking, camping, work and anything else. The only thing that bothered me was about a month into wearing them some of the sole lugs toward the outside of the sole ripped off and the shoe laces didn't hold up that well. The missing lug pieces did not affect the performance of the shoe and I replaced the shoe laces with OD green paracord and everything is still perking right along! Good shoe! Also, toe box is really nice and wide; made a huge difference. Love it! Arch support I cannot weigh in on, as I always remove the factory insole and put my own "Power Step" insert.

These boots are sick! Couldn't be happier with my new Keen's. Bought them the day before I took a week-long trip to Alaska, and even with zero break in they were perfectly comfortable. They've got a great open toe box, easy on and off, they even lace and tie easily with "grabby" lace hooks at the top.
