It's true about the review that the leather is not the same on all Kork-ease. I got a pair of Black Avas, Natural Bette's and Multi-Colored Bettes. The Black and Multi are awesome and feel so good to wear! The leather on the Natural Bette's are too stiff, they painfully dig into my feet and cause abrasions. Also, they've never seem to distress with use like my old Kork-ease from the 1970's did. That pair is pretty much unwearable. But the other two pair I rotate on practically a daily basis.

Loved them, but need the 7.5 which they don't make. Went down a size, but the toes are on the edge. Really soft leather, good feel to it. Disappointed shoe makers ignore us 1/2 size feet out there!

Comfy - I wanted height and comfort in a black sandal. While I don't think these are the most stylish shoes around (even as a throwback to the 70's), they are exactly what I was looking for.

A great buy - Loved the style in the 70,s and still love it today. Good quality, comfortable, true to size but buckle could be easier to buckle. Would recommend. Were here the next day.

Have to return the shoes. They are very wide. and it's not real cork. Looks very cheap. But they are very comfy. Still, I was looking for real cork in my shoes.

I absolutely love Kork-Ease Ava. If I could afford it, I would have a pair in every color. However, this recent pair I purchased in March and by May I noticed the buckle inside strap was fraying and by June, it completely snapped off in the middle of class! I am sending these back and planning on getting a replacement and hoping that was a fluke...

Not in love with these, frankly. Though I've never had trouble with my feet, these cause me a piercing pain horizontally across the front of my foot, perhaps because the X is tight in some way? They're also sort of clunky because your feet are essentially flat though elevated, so your legs are not elongated despite the extra height of the shoes. Too bad -- I had bought them for a vacation that will include a lot of walking, and had been hoping for comfort. Now I think I'll be leaving them home.

I bought these shoes in Malaga Brown two months ago and have been wearing them about 3 times a week since. It was a painful break in experience for me, but I have wide feet so I've come to expect this. After about a week and a half of wearing the shoes they were molded to my feet (thanks to the high quality real leather) and the shoe bed and cross straps are really comfortable now - and this is coming from a person who always wears cushy flats. I bought these shoes because I wanted more height without losing comfort, and I love the retro style. The shoe delivers on all these fronts; however, for a shoe at this price I am pretty disappointed with some of the materials. The leather straps that go over your feet are thick and sturdy and seem like they will last for years, but the leather surface along the platform seems much thinner and is easily scuffed. A little leather conditioner helps so this is not a big concern. My biggest problem is with the stretchy material that gives the ankle strap and buckle a little flexibility as you walk. After only two months of wear this elastic has completely worn out and is frayed with no more stretch. The shoe is still functional but I either have to make the ankle strap too loose or too tight and it has no give, which is uncomfortable and awkward when walking. I think this is such a shame for a shoe with a long history of quality craftsmanship. My mom, who grew up in Kork Ease, was thrilled when she saw me wearing these, but was really disappointed when she saw the results after two months. She still has a pair of hers from the '80s. I wish they were still made as well now! I will continue to wear these shoes, but I would not buy them again unless the brand commits to upgrading such a small, but crucial, detail.

For the price, the rubber sole on the bottom shouldn't come apart from the base of the shoe. The leather is high quality and doesn't strech easily adding to some discomfort and length to the break-in period.

I want to love these shoes, but they are not my favorites. I am uncertain as to why they are so popular. Maybe not all shoes are meant for every foot. These are not bad and I did keep them and have worn them, but they have taken some getting used to. For one thing, they only come in medium widths, and I have narrow feet and slim ankles. Sometimes I can make a sandal fit better by poking extra holes in the strap to tighten it up around my ankle, and that is the case with this pair. I have long feet, too, and wear a 10; however, these 10's seem to be a tad bit too long for my feet. I am positive that a 9 would have been too short and my toes would hang off the end. A 9 1/2 would have been best, but this shoe does not come in half sizes it seems. So I feel like these shoes make my feet look VERY long. These were also kind of cumbersome at first, but I have since gotten more used to them. The straps also rubbed across my toes at first and were painful, but that too, has resolved itself. I guess I have broken them in, but I am still not totally impressed with them. They ARE VERY PRETTY shoes, but they are not the best choice for me. I decided to keep them after all as I can use and like their overall look.

At first they seemed comfortable but after walking in them for a bit my feet were in so much pain. The straps around toes are tight and the sole material sticks to feet and causes blisters. Terrible.

I bought these beautiful sandals two years ago and have worn them three times. I was so happy to see these sandals because they reminded me of my favorite sandals from the 70's. Boy was I wrong. Each time I have worn them I have terrible knee pain afterwards. I should have sent them back after the first time I wore them. Now if they would have been more of a flat platform like the Ande they would have been perfect! The Ava is more of a wedge.

I love, or should I say "loved," these shoes! May they rest in peace. One of the straps broke and the elastic gave out after only having them a little over a year. Sadly, I missed the return date, but Zappos was very understanding and gave me a nice discount to buy some new shoes! I must say that Zappos is so accommodating - excellent customer service. I went with another brand but hoping to revive my Kork-Ease at the cobbler.

I was very disappointed to find, that after wearing these sandals just one time, the "cork" was separating from the sides of the shoes. It wasn't even real cork but a decal that was bubbled up at a few spots. Very cheap for the money. From what I understand, at one time, Kork Ease was made from real cork? I might try another pair with leather covered sides. I want to give them another chance.

Dont even think about spending the money on this shoe. They are very uncomfortable and made poorly. the elastic strap that holds the buckle shredded apart only after a week I bought them and i consider myself to be very light on my shoes.

I'm a solid 7.5. The 7 is too small. The 8, though the length is fine, is ultimately too big. There's about a half inch of room between my heel and the heel strap. I got them in brown leather, and the leather is soft (if you're curious about this color). These wedges look super cute, and are so versatile. But, with my half-size, impossible to wear. Shame. Disappointing.
