I've owned my last La Canadiennes for about 10 years, and worn them long hours, long walks,through mushy snow and ice--including on the streets of NYC. I'm a bit conservative in my tastes...but this boot...while comfy as all get out--is boring. To me. It just looks basic. Will go with anything, won't add any flair. Also, I find that La C. runs about 1/2 size smaller than my usual shoe size. I'm returning this, and hoping that a more interesting La C boot turns up--in my size. Julia? Jaden? size 9 please!

For the price, the leather and heel looked cheap

My feet are very wide, with high instep, and these WWs were just not wide enough.

These boots are so wonderful but I have had a hard time finding the right fit. I am finally trying a 10 W after starting at a 9 (usual) medium. Hope these fit. They are beautifully crafted and a nice size heel. Also, waterproof--a must have. Just wondering if they are more expensive due to trade barriers. Not sure if they are worth the $$$ just yet, but if they work, I will buy. Can't find anything else.

I have a few pair of La Canadienne boots, but these didn't work for me. The boot felt stiff and irritated my bunion. I ordered the wide width as well, but they were too loose. Sent back both pairs.

Way too narrow for a 9EE and couldn't get the last .25" of zipper all the way up. Beautiful waterproof boat, very disappointing.

These are beautiful boots, and extremely comfortable. However, I had to send them back because the top of the shaft at the ankle was crazy narrow. I couldn't zip up the last 1/2 inch to inch of the zipper. I do have somewhat athletic calves, but literally my tiny 12 year old was the only person in my house that these might have fit. (In fact, she tried them on and was quite taken with them, despite them being almost 2 sizes too big for her). I continue my quest for simple, low black boots to replace a pair that has finally bitten the dust after almost 20 years!

I do have thick calves, but I could not even zip these boots up. There is some goring at the top, but not enough. Perhaps if you have thin calves these would work.

The styling and fit were great. But I am returning bc it arrived with scuffs and also a staple sticking up from the sole!!!! Also not sure if the insole is just thin and not meant to be removed or if it is missing entirely. What was there was thin and would not come out. I was planning to put mine on top but I'm creeped out my that staple and the "worn" appearance of the boot--like someone wore it quite a bit and then returned. I am surprised Zappos passed on such a product to me!

I can't decide if going to keep these.... I DON'T think the leather is all THAT great -- not as nice as my Frye boots, certainly. It seems like a cheaper grade, thinner & not as 'rustic' looking. They look almost 'dressy', not my preference. Will work only with jeans and trousers, not skirts. However, they are QUITE comfortable, and the waterproof aspect is a draw. Seem to have good non-skid soles and a good heel height for outdoor wet/snowy sidewalks. But...expensive! I don't mind paying several hundred dollars for really good boots (I have 4 pair of Fryes), but I don't know if these are worth it.

I wanted a boot that had a solid, moderate heel, but I could wear with jeans or skirts. I wanted high quality leather that would fit my foot--something as comfortable as my goat skin cowboy boots, but those are too casual for the office. This fits the bill sort of. They just don't fit right and the leather seems nice, but the lining is not leather (which I knew) but I think sometimes that keeps the boots from really conforming to your feet. In any case, I wear an 11 medium and generally have no problem with fit unless the heel is too loose and slips. These boots however were too long AND too narrow. Not exactly too narrow everywhere, but just pinched in odd places. I don't think they were enough too long for me to go down a size, but too long enough to make the fit all wrong. They are snug in the ankle--but in a good way as some reviewers said. I do not have thick calves.

I just received these boots and am so disappointed. They are really a lovely style and very well made, with excellent quality leather. However, they run very narrow, as others have indicated. I have a medium width foot and ankle but think these would fit much better in a wide, but Zappos unfortunately doesn't have my size in a wide width. So though they may stretch out after wearing, I'm not a fan of the bulging toe outline, so these must go back.

The shoe had a screw in the base that came up through the heel :( I loved the shoes & am so disappointed by poor construction for such a high price. I read great reviews from the company & would have loved to support them. Unfortunately I wont be purchasing again.
