This was my first pair of AE's. The Deray's in Chilli are very nice: style & comfort. My only complaint...after six months I have to get them re-soled. Now, to be fair, I wear these every business day. But I really thought I could wear them at least a year before having them re-soled...even wearing them everyday. I work in an office and spend most of my time on carpeting. This is my only disappointment.

The look and quality of this shoe is amazing. This is my first pair of AE shoes. When I purchased these I was told they would stretch out and form to my feet...they are still very tight after a good 6 months of wear. I cannot wear them so they sit in the closet...what a shame. I wish I would have gone with a looser fit.
I would highly recommend the shoes, but make sure they fit perfect.

I purchased this shoe as a replacement for AE Belmonts that were damaged during reconditioning. Although these shoes look great and are extremely well built, compared to Park Avenues and Belmonts, the toe box is more tapered.
Unfortunately, for my feet this has made the shoe feel narrow and cramped around the toes. Unlike my other AE's which felt snug and got more comfortable with time as they break in, I haven't found this to be the case with the Delrays. I still can't wear the Delray's for any significant length of time despite trying to break them in and even paying to have them stretched. Unfortunately I am stuck with a very expensive pair of shoes that I can't wear.
I would consider trying a slightly wider shoe than what you normally order.

I purchased a pair of Delray lace-ups in chili brown. The look is great and the feel of the shoes has been top-notch. They form fit well to my foot in a short time and are very c0mfortable.
Problem is that after only about 2 dozen wearings, the heel on one shoe is already separating from the sole. There's barely any wear on the underside of the shoe, so this is unbelieveably poor product quality for a shoe of this caliber. I've had military issue shoes last years longer, with extreme wear, better than this. This gives "Made in the USA" a black eye in my opinion and should be dealt with immediately. I may give AE another shot just because of the style and comfort factors, and I really want to like these shoes, but any other issues and it'll be the last time I spend my footwear dollars here.

The picture of the shoe and the actual shoe feel and look are not the same. Best to explore the shoe at a store before ordering on line.

Due to working from home the shoes were rarely used. However, the leather on one of the shoes is already damaged.

The product is uncharacteristically narrow (I own many pairs of AE's) and came with a bb-sized defect between leather layers.

As a birthday gift from my wife, I decided on a pair of Allen Edmond's shoes for the first time. I fell in love with the look of the Del Ray in chili, as I am a banker and wear high-end dress shoes daily. Upon being fitted on the Brannock at an Allen Edmonds boutique, I was recommended for a size 9D. I normally wear 9.5D in all other dress shoes, and they fit very narrow and tight on the pinky toe area. I was worried about whether my feet would swim around in a bigger size, or I should stick with the 9D and let them break in. About a month later, the pain is still excruciating. Unfortunately I have worn them hoping for a break in, so there is no chance of exchanging them, but the slight pain that was felt trying them on at the store only got worse. By trying to "wiggle" my pinky toe daily to stretch out the area that is too narrow, it has left an indentation pointing out where it is. I would like to purchase the Strands, but am worried about the fit, and how my pinky toe has taken a beating. I should have stuck with my instincts and gone with the 9.5D. I hope AE figures out the length/width ratio of this model, as I would love to continue wearing, but only do when I know I don't have to hike up some stairs.

I have been researching and reading about AE for a while to help me justify the fairly high cost of the shoes. I finally brought myself to purchase a Delray in black - awesome looking shoe! Very professional and classic look. Upon trying them on, they felt a little narrow on the sides, but the sales person assured me that the leather will stretch and conform to my feet. I seemed to agree as this is the case with most of my other "good quality" shoes from other brands. I have owned this Delray for over a year and it has not conformed to my feet and have cause much pain, to the point that I barely wear them and just force myself to wear them considering the amount I spent to acquire them.
Hoping AE can figure this out and fix the fit of this shoe. I have also notice that this is a problem for many.
I love the craftsmanship of the brand but am afraid of the pain that another AE shoe may cause my feet.

I have narrow feet so I need to purchase 'B' width shoes, which most often means I have to wait four weeks to have the factory make them. That was the case with a pair of brown DelRays. When I received them, I noticed that the vertical seam on the back of the left shoe was almost at a 45 degree angle rather than straight up and down. Furthermore, the shoes squeak with every step despite putting leather conditioner and polish on several times. I'm amazed that these shoes could pass an inspection, assuming that they still do one. I want to keep my loyalty to AE, but there is no doubt that the manufacturing quality is nowhere near what it used to be, yet they still think it's the right move to increase prices.

The dye in the soles have not penetrated adequately, and any light scuffing shows the very light underlayer beneath very easily. The leathers themselves have the same problem, but could be considered a "feature" of the shoe. In my opinion, this "feature" makes the shoe look sloppy and old before its time.
My primary concern is with the sole.

I recently purchased my fourth pair of Allen Edmonds dress shoes, Del Ray, size 11. Although the salesperson was extremely helpful, I must admit I am extremely disappointed with this purchase. Every time I wear the shoes, they cause my left knee and left ankle to have serious pain. So much so that I am unable to wear the shoes for an extended period of time. As suggested, I purchased the shoes to accommodate and fit my larger foot (the right). However, this has caused nothing but pain. This is unfortunate considering I like their style and have been supportive of the Allen Edmonds brand (as is seen by my number of other Allen Edmonds shoe purchases.) I really do not want to switch to another brand, but considering the premium price for these shoes, comfort should be the primary goal.

I have a wider foot that I occasionally accomodate by going up 1/2 size on a normal width. That is a bad decision with this shoe. It runs longer and narrower than you think. Even thought I tried 3 separate size-width combinations in the store, I can tell that this shoe is not going to "break in" well and be a go-to shoe in my closet. (I probably should have worn them around the house to be sure, but who has time for that?) I'm disappointed, because this is a really handsome and versatile-looking shoe.
I've been considering switching from Alden to AE because I think AE has a better selection. Not sure I made the right call, since comfort is a "price of admission" issue, especially at that price.
PS -- I gave it a 2 rather than a 1 because the salesman was accommodating and helpful, and I deserve part of the blame for the purchase decision.

I have three pairs of Edmond Allen's. All very well built. I bought these at the store and was fitted with a 10.5 E. I've worn them a few times, but each time they rub on my little toe. I thought it was just a matter of breaking them in, but there has been no change after a few months. It's a shame because they are a great looking shoe, but too painful to wear. I'd recommend getting a wider width than normal.

the one side leather of the shoe is too soft. It can't hold the contour.
when I wear it, it doesn't fit my foot and looks loosely.
but if I tense it, the leather will "make noise".

Rubber is already falling off bottom of heel after only 1.5 months. Shoes are only worn two or three times a week at most in an office carpet setting. Very disappointed given the price point. Will never buy these again.

I am a HUGE AE fan and have purchased 12 pairs over the past 10 years.
I truly love the appearance and look of the Del Ray and have bought two of the Chili Brown shoes. Unfortunately, like many of the other reviewers have said, these shoes are very narrow in the toe box. The fit is awful so I do not wear them any more and they sit in my closet. With that said, AE shoes are the only ones I wear! I just wish that these shoes were made as well as the other ones that I own.

I was in the market for some new dress shoes after my old ones had finally worn down, after a recomendation from a friend I decided to try out Allen Edmonds. Prior to purchasing I had gone online and narrowed my selection down to a couple pairs of shoes. Once in store I decided on the Delray, mostly because of how it looked. This is where things went down hill, I called over the salesman to try on a pair, which I told him my size but he measured anyway. I had been a size 12 my whole adult life but the salesman brought back a size 11 and 11.5 to try on. I put on the first pair which was the size 11 and imediately noticed that my pinky toe was touching the sides of the shoe and this was to tight so I opted to try the next pair the 11.5. When I put this pair on I noticed the same thing, however the sales person mentioned that all AE shoes feel tight in the begining but once broken in this feeling will go away. I decided to trust the sales person against my own instinct since he sells the shoes all day and has worn them and got the size 11.5. After wearing them the first day they flet good except for my toes touching the sides but figured that would go away after some wear. Fast forward 2 weeks I am having the same issue and have pretty much deemed this shoes unwearable as I do not want my toe getting blisters everytime I wear the shoe. Going back I wish I would have pushed the sales person for a bigger size or a wider shoe as I spent a lot of money for something that looks good but can not wear now.

I bought these shoes early this year at a well known retailer in Toronto. My first AE! They look great, they feel great and they come with that smell of leather and glue that seems to say "These shoes were made just for you!". The shock came today. After wearing them about 60 times (twice a week with a grey and a black suit) I realized that the left heel is starting to separate from the shoe. It's kind of disappointing to spend that kind of money on a pair of shoes, thinking you're getting the real deal, and then have something like this happening to you.

These shoes came with the typical pain that goes along with a new pair of dress shoes, however after 6 months of solid wear and numerous shines, these shoes still hurt my feet. This is the only pair of shoes I own that give me this problem. Maybe its my feet?
This experience will deter me from purchasing your products in the future.
