I purchased these prior to a trip to San Fran and they fit well after a short break-in period. They are better for more contemporary suits with flat-front pants. For pleated/cuffed pants, I'd suggest the Park Avenues or 5th Avenues, both of which can be worn running a marathon! As with most AE shoes, these are recraftable so it's well worth the investment. My final assessment: the Delray is fully fashionable but not overly ostentatious, which was primarily why I bought the shoe in the first place.

To the point of the pre-9/11 "rules" review above, Allen-Edmonds used fiberglass/composite shanks long before 9/11. In fact, it was always a selling point that you didn't have to even take your shoes off when you hit the metal detector. This fact has nothing to do with new TSA rules because, as all true frequent travelers know, you have to remove your shoes in 99.9% of domestic locations regardless. To the point of construction (above), I've owned Alden and other metal shank shoes and A-Es hold up just as well. The only thing you get with Aldens (for example) that you don't get with A-Es is a bunch more weight. Please enjoy if lugging around extra lbs is your kind of thing. Maybe wear a set of ankle weights while you're at it. To the point of the Delrays in particular, they do have a more narrow toe-box than most A-Es. They aren't as traditional as some of the sleeker or cap-toed styles. Still, they work well for most of my travels and hold up quite well.

Best dress shoes I have ever owned. They fit perfectly, are insanely comfortable to walk in, and they look sharp. Pricey? Sure. But worth every penny.

I love Allen Edmonds shoes. This is my second pair. They fit true to size, are great looking, and very comfortable.

First off, it is a great looking shoe. The chili color is much brighter than a standard dark brown. Goes with anything (except black). The shoe last is great for those of us with higher insteps and who need a little wiggle room in the toe box.

I love Allen Edmonds and have bought a pair just about every year for 20 years, but the quality has dropped off the past 5 years or so (e.g., tongue used to be sewed to body of shoe, but it now flops and makes it more difficult to slip in foot). Nonetheless, these shoes are decent and fit to size and are good standard dress shoes for a suit.

Nice But I Question The Construction - These are beautiful shoes and work very well with contemporary suits, perhaps a little less so with very traditional menswear. The toes are more pointed than perhaps the photos indicate. I was surprised upon arrival to read that these are "airport friendly" shoes. Oddly this disappoints me. It essentially says that they have forsaken traditional methods for more glue and half-measures. If I would have known this, I would have avoided purchasing them. They feel less robust and substantial than AA shoes I purchased pre-911 airport rules. Nice shoes, but not quite what I had hoped for or would expect at this price point.

Absolutely outstanding quality and style! A perfect compliment to the many pairs of Allen Edmond's that I already own, to include a pair of Park Avenue's that are almost 20 years old and still have the original soles and heels (the only thing that I've replace are the laces). Back to my new pair of Delray's, they are so great looking and comfortable. You can dress up or business casual it...perfect style. Well done Allen Edmonds! You have NEVER let me down. I've been a customer for over 25 years now; the AE brand is my all time favorite. And the background on these compliments is that I spent over 42 years in the shoe business working for several mens dress and casual brands, yet sadly, never worked for Allen Edmonds. Great company, great products. I'll be back Zappos!
