This boot fits me and my current needs to a tee. I am replacing a La Canadienne boot I purchased in 2012. That boot served me very well for 6 northeast winters. Reheeled by my cobbler - but a good looking and comfortable boot that stood up to ice, snow, rain and endless winters - with comfort, warmth and the understated classic style of La Canadienne.
I expect this boot to serve me just as well. I compared La Canadienne Passion to La Canadienne Poppie and found that Passion had a smaller circumference and shorter shaft, which fit my 5’ 2” stature and narrow calf better than Poppie. I expect this boot will see me through my Get Out the Vote work walking from door to door to encourage everyone to vote in 2020. And after that work, and all the phone calls and all the meetings - I will wear this boot on November 3, 2020 when we regain hope for our future and our children’s future. And, from my prior experience with La Canadienne boots, I expect this boot will easily take me through the first 4 years of the next Democratic administration in a comfortable and stylish fashion. And also, through the second 4 years of the following Democratic administration as we increasingly make progress dealing with climate change - though I’m prepared for every type of climate with La Canadienne Passion. Peace. Vote.

I had mistakenly purchased this boot in a wide back in October after reading some reviews about width problems. I also got the same size as my running shoe, a sometimes 1/2 size larger than my usual shoe size depending on the shoe. Thanks Zappos for putting up with numerous returns of many different boots after that. I had wondered if Zappos was taking bets on whether I would ever keep a pair! And my UPS guy was shaking his head with all of the back & forth! I eventually wound up with this boot again in black, in the same size but in a regular width. Thank goodness I did. I have worn it all winter long with a gel insert for additional arch support and slightly better comfort as I am a real city walker. This is a fantastic boot! I wore it almost every day this past winter, dressed down and up. Although initially I really hated to spend this kind of money on a boot, I'm extremely glad that I did. This boot got me through some rough winter weather: navigating through salt, snow mounds, icy sidewalks, driving rain, deep puddles, you name it. The tread is fantastic - it really is skid proof. Best part, after the no-falling down part, is the way they feel. And they are really warm and waterproof. I just wish that the style had a little more pizazz, but I cannot complain at all about the overall total comfort. I cleaned them after they got muddy and polished them to try to erase a sadly earned gougy kind of scuff mark across the toe. It pretty much disappeared (you would have to look really hard to see it!) and I have to say that the boots look like new again. Even better because they are not stiff looking. I will eventually have to get the heels replaced, a minor thing considering how many miles I put on them, and I just saw another review that mentioned getting the boots waterproofed after a winter season (hmm, no one mentioned that before!). Glad to see that I am not the only one who meticulously reads all of the reviews before investing in a pair of boots with this kind of price tag! Bottom line, I would highly recommend this boot. It is as versatile as everyone says and it is a classic looking boot that is not going to go out of style tomorrow. With regard to the price, I doubt that I will be purchasing another pair of winter boots for a long while, so the purchase will likely turn out to be a very cost effective one. Also, I did not mind the slight bagginess to the calf area as I generally wore them with pants. When I did wear them with black tights and a shortish skirt, I thought that they looked pretty great too. I see that the brown is on sale now and am actually considering a second pair in brown.

Buyer beware - these boots don't wear well. This was a great boot until the seam by the foot started to come apart. Their guarantee for "workmanship" only lasts 6 months. Mine were nearly two years old - but lightly worn and well cared for. I expected them to last much longer given their price and my use patterns, particularly relative to other boots I own.
I contacted La Canadienne asking about repair recommendations, and they were uninterested and unhelpful.

I've had these boots in size 7 for about six months and although I loved them at first, they have not worn well. In particular, the zipper bends inward at the inside ankle in a way that has become quite painful. Also, the leather has begun to show undue wear. I wear these boots infrequently, and expected better quality for the price.

I love these boots. I bought them over a year ago, I wear them regularly, and they are still in great shape. I have large feet with long middle toes, so buying attractive shoes that fit well can be challenging. My feet are probably a little bigger than the perfect 11, so I try to find slightly large 11s, and these seem just right. They are very comfortable, and I love their look. For an added bonus the lining inside the leg is very comfy.

I own three pairs of Passions: black, brown, and black suede. I have wide feet and bunions, but I hate frumpy shoes, so it took me a while to find these classic, stylish boots which I wear in an 8 wide. They are incredibly comfortable and waterproof, and they have great traction on ice and snow. Plus, the black suede boots are very Kate and Pippa. :)

Love these boots. I am a big fan of La Canadienne boots. I own about 6 pairs. They maybe pricey but I dont know any brand that is this comfortable and stylish. The Passion boots do not disappoint. You can tuck in you jeans and leggings and also wear with skirts and dresses. Just because a boot has a flat heal doesn't mean it is comfortble. These boots I can walk and stand in all day. They are great looking and comfortable. Worth the money.

Passion is a beautiful, elegant boot that can be worn with anything and to anywhere. The design is deceptively simple because once you try them on, they really look wonderful. I purchased the black suede and am very happy with them. Good heel height that will work for both regular or snowy, icy walks. This is close to a rider's boot although the heel is a bit higher than most. This is definitely waterproof because I just wore them during some very rainy days and had to walk through lots of standing water. I can't say enough positives about La Canadienne, and thank goodness Zappos carries them.

La Canadienne Passion are comfortable boots in simple, classic style. With the warm inside lining and outside waterproofing, the boot is great in urban or outdoor environment when you need to walk a lot in snowy/cold weather. They are not super stylish boots, but they look good in a slightly rugged urbane way with casual and dressy clothes. The reason I'm giving 4 stars is because I am 5'9", the 15-inch shaft stops at my mid-calf, and I wish they come up a little higher. I'd say the boot looks better on a slightly shorter person. The chocolate brown leather is gorgeous. I wish La Canadienne make boots with taller shafts.

I measured my foot and according to the size guide I need a size 10. Thought it was weird since I usually get a size 9 in closed shoes. Way too big!! I’ve had a pair of these boots before, they were amazing quality, there’s something not quite right about these. There’s hardly any leather smell to them and they feel cheap. La Canadienne website does not sell these anymore. Not worth $550. As others have mentioned something’s been scratched out under the “La Canadienne” logo. My guess is “Made in China”.

I was looking for a riding-type boot with a classic style, but that was also comfortable. This boot really fits the bill! I was a bit worried that it wouldn't have enough arch support, and in reality it really has only a little bit, but it doesn't seem to matter because it fits my foot perfectly and is extremely comfortable. The fact that it's waterproof is an added bonus. I was also concerned that because it was waterproof, it would too hot or thick...again, it turns out that the boot is not like that at all. The only minor issue with it is that I have long legs (34" inseam, 6 feet tall) and the boot doesn't go up as high as I would like...maybe just by an inch. This is only an aesthetic, so it's not a problem. I love these boots!

Beautifully made, very comfortable, look surprisingly nice on the legs too. I appreciate how these boots combine warmth and are waterproof without sacrificing style. I have athletic calves, and not-so-athletic ankles. Why, genetics, why? So I often have a hard time finding a boot that zips, but these work, they are a bit snug at first, but the leather does stretch over time. Very comfortable for my public transit commute. Leather tough enough that I don't worry about dinging it on the edges of stairs, etc. I ruined the toe of a Cole Haan boot that way. Only complaint is that at first, after an hour of wearing the left zipper would dig into my leg, just above the ankle, but that problem seems to have sorted itself out, perhaps the leather stretched enough after multiple wearings, not sure.

Looks to be a fantastic boot! I've only worn it in the house for 4 hours, but so far it feels like it will be comfortable from the beginning with no break in period. The style is a perfect "in between" style for me: it can go dressier, with skirts and tights, or it looks great tucked into jeans. The leather is a lovely dark brown, the heel is easy for walking but gives a bit of a boost. Taking them to Scotland in a couple of weeks And, they are waterproof (and my other LaC. boots after 5 years are still waterproof!). Might order a second pair...hard to resist! I am a standard size 8m standard medium width, with a foot that spreads in front but has a narrower heel.

This is a beautiful, elegant boot. It's great for work, in my case, as I'm in a pretty conservative office. They're true to size, I found, and very comfortable. There's no break in period. I have fairly athletic calves, probably around 14.5 inches around at the widest part. The boots fit great, though they are a little loose at the very top (past the widest part of my calf) with tights, but I'm ok with it because I've had tighter fitting boots, and it's the worst feeling ever when it's squeezing your leg too tight! It's like having a toothache! I wear an 8.5 and have high arches. The boot fits great in my size, though I might have even been able to go down a half size, I didn't bother. There's no heel slippage, which I sometimes find happens to me due to my arches. They're very high quality; I'm glad I found them!

These are stunningly nice classic black boots that I expect to last a long time (timeless style). The have no real embellishments except being a beautiful leather boot. The arch support is OK. I do need a lot in this department. I stuck arch supports in there (I recommend the Pedaq ones from Germany - note that they are quite firm and true arch support) and it works great. A note on fit - my calves are somewhat bigger than the boot - the first few times I could only zip up toe the horizontal seam. The little stretch built in up top, does slowly stretch and after about 4 days wearing them (off and on), I can now zip them up. Remember that good leather stretches and then returns to its shape, so I do not believe it is the leather. I believe it is the stretchy little part that is relaxing, which is a good thing as it adapted to my calves. IF you have athletic calves though they may be too tight. Zappos has a similar style that is more of an ankle boot that looks exactly like this one (except of course the length) and those might be an option for you (and on sale too). I walk to work and do a lot of walking at work too, and these work great - decent traction, comfy in warmth (not too hot like some hiking boots can get), and they look great with pants and skirts. It is a lot of money to spend (I was a bit scared at first)- and I do not regret in one bit. These will be going with me to Seattle where I can walk everywhere in them and wear them professionally without having to pack additional work shoes. I will post an update in several months - I fully expect these quality boots to be with me a long time.

Excellent boots! I wore these with Smart Wool socks walking all over Prague (cobblestone streets) for several days in 18 degree F (or colder) weather. I have had trouble with neuromas in the past and felt no pain or discomfort even after several hours walking. My feet were warm and dry. I could not be happier with these wonderful boots.

I have foot issues so I am not the easiest to fit. These boots are everything I had hoped for and very comfortable, well made, and look great with casual and well as dressier outfits. I love them so much, I also got them in brown. They may be on the expensive side, but are worth it. Highly recommend!

These boots are beautiful and they fit perfectly. I need a wide width for my bunions, and the E width fit perfectly. So many boot makers assume that those with wide feet also have wide calves, and thankfully these didn't make that mistake: the boot is wider in the toe area and normal in the heel and the calf.

I cannot say enough good things about La Canadienne’s boots. I have owned several pairs of their shoes for over 10 years now. I live in NYC and the right footwear is crucial. These boots can be worn in any kind of weather for work or play. Yes, they are expensive, but they are worth every penny!

Nice looking boot. Calf is on the narrow side. I ordered a 6 1/2 W and have small (14 1/2 inch) calves. However, these were tight on me. I'm 5'4" -- maybe it would be better for someone taller where the large part of the calf is higher up. Although, I actually think the boot would be nice looking if it were an inch taller. I ordered the Blanche, Paige and Passion and ended up keeping the Paige in a 6 1/2 W.

Fantastic boot. Got them in black suede and they are just beautiful. Very well made and worth the money. I have wide feet with a high arch and am tough to fit and tough to please. These went on my feet and I said ahhh. They are comfortable, supportive, beautiful and I am able to walk in them comfortably. What more can anyone ask for?

These are beautiful, well made boot. The calf is perfect for me (I have a 14¼" circumference calf), and shaft height is great at 15". They have nice looking heels. They are great for me, I was looking for something that I can dress up or down, be comfortable in all day at work on my feet. Footbed size may be a smidgen (half a size, maybe) on the large side; the wide is also nice, does not look wide but feels more roomy. I looked at much cheaper boots that were not as classy looking or comfortable; these are definitely worth the extra money.

This is my second pair of La Canadienne! I loved them! They are very comfortable, as always! The leather is beautiful. It was tight when I first tried them on, and it was same as my first pair too, but I believe over time the leather will become more flexible. They are very elegant looking. They have the perfect heel height since I do not like wearing high heels. I got the dark chocolate. It is a very dark color but I like it. I would definitely recommend these! Especially for those who do not like cold feet in winter but do not like Ugg because sometimes they can get too warm.

This is a really nice looking boot but it didn't fit my size 14" calves. The circumference listed was 14.5 so I thought it would be okay but unfortunately, I couldn't get them zipped up. Will have to send these back but wish I didn't have to as I really liked them.
