Beautiful boot -
Beautiful soft boot. Very classic and comfortable. It stays up if you don't want to slouch it down. This is the only Frye boot I've tried on that was absolutely true to size. Usually you have to size up or down, and when you are mail ordering, it's hard to know what size to get.

I love these boots! I bought the grey suede and I am happy to report they go with everything. These boots are comfortable and can be worn with jeans tucked in. They look like they can withstand wear and tear and remain in great condition. They are pricey but well worth it!

Great boots for the fall!
I love these boots. The leather is soft and pliable. They have a nice drape and good low heels.

Boot of the year -
I tried SO MANY PAIRS of BOOTS before settling on these--I bought chocolate suede. They're pricey, but versatile, high quality, and both trendy and classic. Lots of bang for your buck. Go ahead, click the button...you won't regret it.

Love the looks of this boot. They still run a little large even though I ordered 1/2 size smaller - still a little wide in the heel. However, I wore these for first time yesterday (it is still 90 degrees here!) and literally everyone stopped and asked where I bought them. I told them ZAPPOS, because they are the BEST!

Beautiful boots -
Soft, lightweight, very well made. They are VERY narrow and I have thin calves (14 inches around), so they just fit. There's no way these would fit over jeans up to the knee, even the skinny legged ones. They scrunch down if you try to pull them over jeans, but this actually works. One note: I have Frye Harness boots that run large and are thus a half size smaller than my usual size. For the Dorado Lows, I ordered in my regular size and they fit perfectly.

THE boot for Fall 2006!!!!
This boot is to die for...It looks and feels like a boot which would cost upwards of $1,000.00.
Incredibly chic and extraordinarily comfortable...I am already saving my money to get the same boot in dark brown leather!!!

Perhaps a lifetime of happiness.
These are the perfect pair of plain black riding boots that don't look too rugged or too Western. I wanted them since August 2006 and finally bought the black leather ones online in January 2007 when I saw the tan suede ones in person at a store. At first I was apprehensive when I got them in the mail; they looked a little galoshy. But the more I wear them with jeans and tights, the less they look like rainboots. The leather is so soft and buttery, but prior reviews said that the heel slips are true. I haven't remedied that yet. The size was true; I normally wear 6 but recently found that other shoe brands were sizing up so I had to buy 5.5s. These were just perfect -- a half size smaller would have squished my toes. My one complaint is about the cankles - the ankles are slouchy and I don't know how or if that can be fixed. Even when I'm wearing knee socks to keep the shaft up, the ankles are still slouchy. Anyone have suggestions?
Also, the shaft isn't too narrow for me. I don't have chicken legs but maybe my calves aren't as big as I thought they were -- I even wish the shaft was a little narrower.
All in all though, you’ll wear these boots every fall when the fall trend goes back to equestrian boots and corduroy blazers. They are pricey but it's such an investment. If you wear them for four years, the boots will be worth $100. But you'll wear them for so much longer than that. I wish I could get them in the chocolate or gray suede too.

Feels like a fine leather glove for your leg -
I bought this boot in black leather and also in grey suede. The black leather is elegant and goes with everything, the grey suede a little more casual but also has that go-with-everything quality because the grey is dark and cool and almost has a purple cast to it.
The first thing you notice about this boot is how the shaft fits on your leg. Aah! It feels like a soft, sensuous glove climbing up your leg all the way to the knee. The boot looks great on, and pulls on easily with the two pull-tabs. My calves are a good 15" and I had a perfect fit with the leather, the suede slouches a little bit.
The boot can be worn either straight or slouched, as you prefer.
I have somewhat wide forefeet with narrow heels, and a flexible flatfoot ("fallen arches" or "overpronation,"), so I prefer more arch support than this boot provides but unfortunately bought my true size, and when I put an insole in the boot it was way too tight, immediately putting pressure on my first metatarsol-phalangeal joint (where you get a bunion) and the inside of my heel. Fortunately, without the insole the arch support is acceptable, although as other reviewers have commented, the heel is loose. The toes do not pinch in my true size.
Be very careful if you have a wide foot. I bought both an 8.5 (my true size) and 9 to see if going a half-size larger helped the fit in the forefoot, but it really didn't seem to add any width, just length, which I didn't really need. I am still not sure which fits me better, the 8.5 or the 9. However I am completely, utterly and totally in love with the look of this boot and the way it feels on my leg, and will have them stretched at the shoemaker's if I have to because they are so sexy -- in an understated way, which makes them even more sexy.

Expensive, but nice -
These boots may be pricey, but they do offer a fresh fall/winter look. The first time I bought a size 8; way too BIG. I returned for a size 7. If you're going to buy, I'd drop your normal size by AT LEAST 1/2 a shoe size. I love them, am waiting to see if they'll last as long as FRYE promises.

Frye Dorado Boot -
Great boot! I love the soft leather, and sleek look. The size 7 felt a bit big, so I also ordered the 6.5 which was too small. I ended up putting in a sole insert and the boot was fine. A classic looking riding boot. I loved the service at Zappos!

The Cole Haan boot that I also ordered was my second choice. I still may get that boot

A bit disappointed -
Usually LOVE Frye boots, but these were disappointing--especially for the price. Ran 1/2 small in my opinion & were too slouchy at ankles--don't want cankles!!! But the grey is a beautiful color! Oh well, can't win 'em all! Won't give up on Frye though!!

Beautiful but slouchy -
Beautiful boot but slouchy around the ankle. Leather soles really need to have a tread applied at the cobbler. Expensive but gorgeous. Order your regular size, larger if in between sizes.

I was really looking forward to these, but they were not what I expected. The Frye quality is just not there. And be warned...the shaft is very narrow!

Loved these boots - just didn't fit -
These are beautiful and it kills me that they don't fit. I didn't think my calves were huge but the shank of these boots is so tight that I could hardly get them on. Also - I like to wear socks with boots and because these are not lined trying to pull them on over socks was like trying to pull your lips over your head - impossible.

Not what I expected -
I actually returned this shoe, so please disregard the comfort analysis. I tried them on and they seemed that they would be comfortable, but didn't wear them enough to actually know. But customers beware! The boot shaft is not very thick leather; it could never actually stand up on its own. For the price, not what I was expecting at all!

Beware of these boots -
I fell in love with these boots after viewing them on several sites. First I ordered my original size--they were way too big throughout-- in heel and toe. So I reordered in a 1/2 size down. This pair still slips in the heel but is painfully tight in front. Also--yes the boots are made of gorgeous leather. However, the calves are so narrow that it's very difficult to tuck anything--even skinny jeans--inside. I actually have extremely narrow calves and most boots are too wide in the calf for me. But I can barely fit jeans inside with these--and if I do, it's difficult to get a clean line (jeans bunch up at the knee). I just wanted to offer a different perspective on these since everyone else seems to love them. As I said, they look gorgeous, and the leather is beautiful and soft. But wearing them is another matter, and at this price, I can't afford to have them sit around in my closet. I'm sending them back.
